The shopkeepers are super friendly and include a black cat that is so chill and hangs around the shop unbothered while you hunt for finds. There is a good box-full of postcards, which is my primary target in antique stores, along with stationery in general - that includes some old fountain pens. Posters, advertisements, viewfinder cards. There's a lot of furniture set-up throughout. Old books and toys. A Rock-Ola Cafe jukebox. One of the shopkeepers has a keen interest in plants and builds his own terrariums which are also on display throughout the store. From outside, I won't lie, the place looks a tad unapproachable. But rest assured, once inside you will be pleasantly surprised. Prices seem a bit on the high side, although for the postcards they were just to my liking. At least one owner seemed willing to haggle a bit and offer bulk deals. He mentioned future plans for having a stall style set-up with vendor booths in the back part of the building. It is on a beautiful wooded road, and is easy to miss if you didn't take that road. Don't miss it! The couple who runs it (and lives next door) is super nice, and they have a small but interesting and diverse collection of antiques - reasonably priced estate jewelry, vintage baby clothes, kitchen items, old furniture and lots of other great things. If you're "antiquing" in the area (a good place to do it), you should stop by Hen's Teeth as well as Millett's Auction House in nearby Vermillion, OH.

Housewares, furniture, pictures, decorative items, vinyl records, toys. A little bit of everything. Prices are pretty reasonable. The person who checked me out did a very careful wrapping job on my item, which I appreciated. They also had bargain bins set up outside where everything was a buck. My only complaint: They use mailing labels stuck directly on front of item as price tags. My item has dried glue stuck to the gold leaf that I probably can't remove without damage. Moving to little hang tags on strings that most vintage stores use would help preserve the item. Then again, the price I paid was half than anywhere else and I wasn't buying it as a collector's item anyway, so no biggie. And the label came off another item effortlessly, so it probably depends. If you are worried, just ask to see item without sticker on it so you can inspect it. I'll definitely stop here again, and because of the price points and high inventory, it doesn't affect my rating of this super fun store.

I randomly stopped by this place while visiting family near Vermillion last week. This is a really…read morefun antique/vintage store that entertained us for at least 2 hours. They've got a great selection of stuff - estate jewelry from $5 and up, vintage linens/table cloths, quilts, old toys, framed art, a ton of tea cups/tea pots, clothing, kitchen stuff.....And on and on and on. Prices vary but overall I felt like they were reasonable (unlike in California where I live!). They are located in the basement of an old church, and have an auction every Saturday from 5 pm to 10 pm where you can apparently get terrific deals on furniture, etc. If I lived in Ohio, I would go all the time!

I asked a simple question about what was in a box and she said it was an antique hanging lamp. I asked if it was a wired lamp or a plug in the wall type...SHE WAS RUDE AS HELL...she said, "The key word was antique"...I NEVER did get a straight answer out of her! I was quite embarrassed, since there were other people in the shop while I was there. VERY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE-I'm sorry, but not everyone knows the "ins & outs" of "antique". I would think that some antique lamps have both plug in cords AND wires that get "hard wired". I can't believe I'm the first person to review Brothers North! It's been open for a little bit, not…read morequite a year, but long enough that there should be more Yelp buzz about it -- it's always busy when I'm there, and it has a really good feeling. It's also so different from the original Brothers Antique Mall, which is more like a traditional "antiquey" antique mall full of Old Stuff. There's old stuff here, but it's all got a place. It feels curated. There's home decor, old antiques -- a lot of farmhouse and chippy paint type stuff, cottagey stuff -- and there's candles and clothing. And books! Antique books, new books, art books, cookbooks, fiction, there's a wonderful variety. It's not a huge bookshop, but there's a lot of interesting and beautiful books here. It looks a lot more countryish on the outside, but the selection is definitely more boho and interesting. It's like an upbeat decor shop, the kind of place you can pick up a funky vintage piece or an upcycled new decor or handicraft, and have a fun time doing it. I've been there twice now, I like the feel, and I'll be back!
