Housewares, furniture, pictures, decorative items, vinyl records, toys. A little bit of everything. Prices are pretty reasonable. The person who checked me out did a very careful wrapping job on my item, which I appreciated. They also had bargain bins set up outside where everything was a buck. My only complaint: They use mailing labels stuck directly on front of item as price tags. My item has dried glue stuck to the gold leaf that I probably can't remove without damage. Moving to little hang tags on strings that most vintage stores use would help preserve the item. Then again, the price I paid was half than anywhere else and I wasn't buying it as a collector's item anyway, so no biggie. And the label came off another item effortlessly, so it probably depends. If you are worried, just ask to see item without sticker on it so you can inspect it. I'll definitely stop here again, and because of the price points and high inventory, it doesn't affect my rating of this super fun store.

I randomly stopped by this place while visiting family near Vermillion last week. This is a really…read morefun antique/vintage store that entertained us for at least 2 hours. They've got a great selection of stuff - estate jewelry from $5 and up, vintage linens/table cloths, quilts, old toys, framed art, a ton of tea cups/tea pots, clothing, kitchen stuff.....And on and on and on. Prices vary but overall I felt like they were reasonable (unlike in California where I live!). They are located in the basement of an old church, and have an auction every Saturday from 5 pm to 10 pm where you can apparently get terrific deals on furniture, etc. If I lived in Ohio, I would go all the time!

(These two REALLY understand customer service and how important photography and social media are to the 30-something set) We had a lovely dialogue about how vintage fashion is one of the most delightful interests one could have because it tells so many stories! They offered to watch my friend's dog as we perused the amazing goodies, and even gave us cookies while we were trying on outfits. Vintage Xmas ornaments? Got them. Vintage purses? Got them. Glassware of all eras and designs? Yep! One tip to this store is make sure you get to their basement. Items tend to be reduced or are garage sale finds that may not be that old but that are worth buying. I frequently find leather travel frames and interesting mirrors and boxes in the basement. Parking is plentiful with meters and there are other antique stores on both sides of the street.

Wild Iris Home is the hidden gem in Olde Avon Village. It feels like I constantly ask friends…read morewhether they heard of Wild Iris, and they don't know what I'm talking about. Time to tell the world after visiting Wild Iris a few times now! AMBIANCE: Wild Iris is a two-story building that features multi-room shopping on the first floor and event space on the second floor. Both spaces are tastefully staged. You can really picture how the items would look in your own home and get new decoration ideas. The store is comprised of multiple rooms with an assortment of home decor. There is no particular separate theme (such as housewares in one room). There is a kids room, but other than that every nook has home decor, clothing, skincare, jewelry, housewares, and more. It's fun to walk around the space and look for treasures. The event space is available for rental for events and photoshoots. During my last visits there for shopping and entrepreneurial events, the event space had industrial chic look and plush couches. The space was very presentable for a professional yet stylish setting. There were plenty of spaces to sit down and network. I'm not confident whether this space is decorated for the holiday for your photoshoots or events, check with the venue. INVENTORY: The inventory looks refined and expensive. Yet there are plenty of finds under $40 for gifting or self-splurging. The store has seasonal gifts for every occasion. The store currently has ample Christmas inventory - decorative pillows, Christmas ornaments, faux gingerbreads, Christmas China, deer decor, and more. I'll be returning to shop for two cool things I've seen and reflected on. One, Christmas ornament for White Elephant exchange. Two, paper Christmas decor ($30 something). The latter is a very cute set that will work for my decor. I have a cat, and he loves to take down and nibble on decorations hence paper trees. SERVICE: The service is always friendly. I always get greeted with a friendly attitude. PARKING: Olde Avon Village has ample parking, multiple parking lots. It is a little challenging to find the entrance to the plaza, watch signage closely. NEARBY ATTRACTIONS: You can make a day out of your visit to Olde Avon Village and Wild Iris. There are plenty of places to eat and entrain! I recommend Tree House Gallery and Tea Room, or Chez Michel for a warm beverage and lunch. Both are in the same plaza and within walking distance. I recommend visiting Wild Iris for decorating your own home or gifting. You can get gifts for multiple people on your list at this store. The store really has one-of-a-kind and gorgeous items!

I don't go "antiquing," in part because I refuse to transform that word into a verb, but mainly…read morebecause I'm not much of a collector. Somerville's, though, is worthy of a visit. Here's why: It is in the lower level of an historic building, in the "East Center" of Richfield, i.e. the geographical center. This was the main stagecoach stop between Cleveland and Akron, and this is in the original building. Geoff Somerville knows all this, but he rarely bores you with any of that stuff, choosing rather to find out where your interests lie and whether he might have something that you would like to take home with you. Somerville's has a whole bunch of stuff, rather casually displayed. Books. Housewares. Art. Some of it is really old, as in many hundreds of years, while much of what is on sale is "mid-century modern" for the Jetsons lover in all of us. I saw a great accordion, an amazing book on steam boilers (well, some of us have rather peculiar tastes) and some beautiful leaded glass signs. I think Richfield has become such a bedroom community that some of the unique flavor of the town has been swept under the rug. Somerville's survives as local color, with charm, grace and wit. This antique mall, or as we referred to it, hoarders, overstock, is terribly overpriced and…read moreseveral areas of the store looks like a hoarder ran out of room in their home and there are three storage units and decided to dump some of their stuff here several areas are so full of glassware and things piled on the floor that you cannot even shop the booth and it's been like this for years. I'm not sure how many pieces they move in a day or a year but coming here a year after year after year I've noticed the same stuff sitting on the shelf with faded price tags dusty items just don't seem to move and when I do purchase something, which is rare, I noticed people in line are making very small purchases of small items like maybe a record or a couple pieces of glassware. I'm sure they move larger items every now and then but it seems like the same stuff in the same booth and display cases that never moves. There are plenty of malls out there where items are priced to sell and there's always fresh items to look at so I recommend looking around. If you're in the area, go ahead and stop, but don't have high expectations. If you live outside the area, I don't know that I would waste the time or the gas to visit this one.
