Fixed action on my Taylor with truss rod adjustment and got the chip out of the head stock, looks brand new! Great work

Third coast guitar is the only place I will take my guitars for work or service. Their work is great and they are reasonably priced. Plus they are quick, so far I have gotten my guitars back in a day or two.

I can't say enough good things about the people and quality of work at Third Coast. I brought my Strat in for a complete refret, fingerboard refinish and a new nut. They took the time to discuss the work I needed and were genuinely interested in making sure I got exactly what I wanted. The work was impeccable. The frets were expertly done, nut was cut beautifully and the finish on the fingerboard was an exact match to the factory tint. I'm talking each fret perfectly seated with no sharp fret ends, no buzzing or dead spots and only minimal relief was used in the neck. All the work looks factory. You would hard pressed to tell anyone has worked on the guitar. Are they the cheapest in town? Of course not, but beware of the others when they say "I can do it cheaper". You're getting top notch expert work at Third Coast and its worth every penny. I couldn't be happier with my guitar.

I brought my Rickenbacker 360/12 here for repair after it plummeted off my kitchen counter to a tile floor. The binding was mashed and chips of paint came off the body around it. It was a pretty nasty wound on an otherwise pristine vintage instrument. When Third Coast called me to pick up my fiddle, I couldn't even tell what side was repaired -- that's how amazing Zack's repair was. But not only that, the whole guitar was really cleaned up and looked way better then when I brought it in. Zack is a real old school craftsman. I also want to make note of how nice everyone is at Third Coast guitar. It's not like I'm in the place every week, but Chris K. always remembers my name and is just a really nice person. It's like a family reunion, except where everyone loves guitars!

Ask the Community - Third Coast Guitar Repair

Hey guys, do they repair classical guitars? I read a post about a Torres but I want to make sure they do

Hi Juan, I've never had a classical guitar worked on but I'd imagine they'd be able to. I'd suggest just calling. The guys are really nice and will give you the best options with no pressure.

I figured this was the best place to come because it is the only authorized Mesa Boogie repair shop in the city. When I initially called, the lady at the front desk warned me that the tech was out on vacation for 3 weeks(!), which was unexpected but fine, since I was about to leave the country myself for 3 weeks anyway. She made a point to describe how finicky and delicate the Mark IV is and how hard it is to diagnose and repair. Didn't inspire a lot of confidence, but she wasn't the tech, so I brushed it off. When I dropped it off, I spoke with a guy who had a handlebar mustache and told me that the last Mesa "worth a damn" was the Mark III, because everything after that was too complex/used double-sided PCB boards/had too many bells and whistles, making them prone to fail. He complained about how hard they are to diagnose and repair. Again, he didn't inspire a lot of confidence, but he wasn't the tech, so I brushed it off. When I got back, I called twice to check on progress, but no one picked up. I left a message. A couple days later the lady called me to say the amp was done. The tech replaced one of the preamp tubes, cleaned the inside, sprayed some contact cleaner on the circuit board, and said the amp was working. The lead channel cut out less than 20 seconds after I got home. When I called them, the lady at the front desk said I must have bumped it on the drive home(!). She explained that the tech also said there was a sticky material inside that looked like beer or soda and that he tried his best to clean it. Maybe that was true, but it looked fine when I opened it up myself afterwards to see the circuit board and components. In hindsight, I can't help but wonder if it was a CYA move. Rather than waste more time with these people, I took it to Patrick McKeever at Chicago Amp Works. I spoke with him directly, rather than through staff. After evaluating the amp, Patrick spotted a solder blob shorting part of the lead circuit, removed it, and now I have a perfectly functioning amp. Quick turnaround, too. Wish I'd started with him rather than Midtown.
