Alden's did great work from start to finish. I needed a piano moved from one room to another in preparation for carpet installation. Nick was great to work with to get everything set up, and the movers were timely and thorough. They left the piano on my hardwood floor with protection, and then upon return, they put my piano back in the carpeted room on the casters I purchased. Great team! Alden's came thru for me when another mover fell thru at the last minute. It was initially gonna be a week out for moving my upright, but they had a cancellation a few days after my initial call so of course I took it! The actual delivery was perfect. It was from the 2nd floor in a townhome in Chicago to the first floor of my new house in the burbs. Two guys handled our upright piano with care and we're polite. Total lack of compassion. After Adlen's own rescheduling of a piano move from one church to another, they couldn't wait just a little longer for the sacristan to come to unlock a closed church, which was in the window of the pick-up time agreed upon. This was a special circumstance since the Catholic Church is in a state of closing and merging churches into new parishes. We are trying to save some of the interior possessions of the church to be used at other churches and this grand piano would have been greatly appreciated at another church. Maybe if the church had been in a wealthy parish like Kenilworth and not in Humboldt Park would they have been more accommodating. I hope Alden's never has to wait for a prayer themselves. Someone who took our piano hired Alden's to pick it up at our home and deliver it to their's: a baby Butterfly Grand piano. All my concerns about getting this piece out of my home disappeared in the less than half hour it took he three men to remove it. They were orderly and upbeat and amazing. My colleague was downsizing and looking for a new home for her upright piano while I just upsized to a single family home and was looking for a piano. The stars were aligned and I needed to find movers ASAP. Thankfully, Nate was super responsive when I contacted Alden's Piano Company via Yelp. He answered all my questions and was very specific about availability over the next few days, down to the window of time for both pick up and drop off. I contacted them on Thursday and they scheduled me the for following Monday which was my first choice. Just gave them the piano dimensions, pick up/drop off locations, and home specifics (number of stairs/floors for each place etc.) to calculate an estimate. The two movers, Wes and Demetrius (sorry if I misspelled your name!) were so friendly and professional. Both my colleague and I received a call 30-60 mins before they arrived and they arrived within the promised time. They were very careful with the piano as well and the steps and floor of our new home. Pricing was very reasonable and I was able to apply the 10% Yelp discount. Of the 4 companies I reached out to, they were the second cheapest at $275 (Kevin's Piano quoted $250, Quality Piano $357, and The Professionals at a whopping $575!). The 10% discount sealed the deal and just came under Kevin's. Looking forward to scheduling a tuning session at some point. They also offer a discount on tuning services after booking a move with them. AMAZING and professional service! I expected the move of my piano from my parents' home to my smaller home to be a nightmare, but I was so wrong! As promised, the Alden's crew called me when they were 15 min. away. They arrived promptly and the crew was courteous and professional. The actual move was amazingly quick. In just 45 minutes, they got the piano out of one house, onto the truck, and into my house - which involved on tight turn to get it in the door. I don't know where to start with how amazing and easy it was to move our console piano from a third-floor walk-up to a house 3 hours away. I was dreading moving our piano for the entire time we lived in our condo due to the move-in process. We had a moving company that claimed to be experienced piano movers move our piano into our condo and It took 4 movers more than an hour to get our console piano up the 4 flights of stairs and they broke a leg off in the process. Piano Alden may be great for moving, but not for refinishing. Ron refinished my piano worth thousands and the finish cracked. Several experts said he did not sand down to wood and the lacquer reacted with the previous finish. I called to try to resolve the problem and he said "what do you want to do?" I told him I'd call others in Florida where I moved and get back to him. Well, he did not answer my phone calls nor several texts. He was nice to talk to when he came to my home, but he never responded back to me. He did not want to refund my money nor part of it. Bad for refinishing!! read more

This is the second time I have used Alden's Piano to move a piano. They are really way above average. Courteous, prompt, with a professional attitude. I will always call Alden piano. The digital piano had been damaged by some renters of our space. The pedals were pull off from under the piano. Alden does not make that sort of repair, but will repair issues with the digital part of the piano. I am investigating where to have it repaired properly. With a sigh and a smile I decided to approach...cautiously at first...then more directly. Yes, now is a good time. And once again the piano that had commanded so much of my time and attention, my blood, sweat, and tears had goaded me into spending some time. And as usual, we became friends again. But, sadly, this beloved piece had aged. Okay, we both had aged, literally. The keys less sharp, the pedals a little stiff, the tone not quite right. Ditto. Enter Alden's Piano Company. They were the 5th phone call I made and in this the best was saved for last. With wonderful, friendly, and prompt service they arranged to clean, tune, and rejuvenate my piano and bring it back to its glory days. You know, it's hard not to fuss when someone is taking away something you have logged years on. But the 2 men working quietly, wrapped it up gently, and seemed to understand that this was a piece of sentimentality and history and not just a hunk of furniture that had gotten a little dusty. Heck, we both were a little dusty. It rolled off into the sunset and I'll look forward to it's return. The price was great for the move, considering what they had to do to remove it from the house. Had an appointment at 9:30 on a Saturday to have my piano moved from my old to my new house. 3 guys showed up in a truck at exactly 9:30. They were maybe in my old house for 5 mins tops. One gentleman looked over the piano condition with me, I signed, and the immediately picked up the piano and loaded it in their truck. They got to my new house at the same time I did and had the piano unloaded and positioned within 5 minutes. These guys are fast. Three very strong guys named Wesley, Deonte and Trey lifted the 400 lb. piano with ease onto a steel dolly and delivered the piano to a school on the Southside for a donation. The price for pickup and delivery was worth the cost and the children of a CPS school will benefit as a result. Everyone was very polite and did a great job taking the baby grand piano apart and packing it properly. On the delivery side they were also very accommodating on where to place the piano making sure it was where we wanted it before finishing up. Mostly I'm impressed by how FAST the Alden's guys worked. They scheduled the pick-up for between 8:30 and 9 am, but got to the pick-up location by 8:25 or so and by 8:45 the piano was in its new location in my house (10 minute drive away)! They were very polite and professional and clearly knew what they were doing. Money well spent! I did take off one star because we had a slight scheduling snafu -- they called the week before our scheduled date to say they were on their way to get the piano! It turns out we had been added twice to their schedule. It wasn't a huge deal since they did come at the later scheduled time (well, not a huge deal for us, I'm sure the movers weren't super excited about having to turn around!) but I think it'd probably be worth calling to double-check the date a few days in advance. read more
