This is a great little bar to have a beer! There are no big bar crowds or crazy prices. The drink prices are great and the servers and bartenders are fun and nice! But the best thing is the Dangerously Delicious Pies! YOU HAVE TO GET A PIE! They are awesome! The beef, the chicken, whatever you choose they come with a side salad with a viniagrette dressing! Although this bar boasts itself as a Patriots bar, we came in on a Sunday and they were playing the Green Bay game and had no idea that the Pats were playing...a little strange, but they quickly changed the channel. They don't have the full NFL package so the most they can play is Redzone which is a little limiting. Staff is super friendly and prices are great. They have skee ball (although tuned off...), darts, and shuffleboard. They have sweet and savory pies for food. I had the SMOG which was only okay (the meat was tough and chewy) and my husband had the chicken (much like a chicken pot pie) which was amazing. We had to bus our own table, because no one came by and flies were gathering around our food (pretty gross). 3rd Street used to be my bar of choice when I attended WSU. I hated when it closed, so to hear of its reopening was awesome. I couldn't wait to see the old place again. I thought what they did with the space was pretty cool. The Delicious Pies are unique, but seem to be a hit. I was disappointed that the old signature pizza was no longer served, as it was the highlight of the place..I actually thought that the delicious pies, were in fact the old pizza. Oh well. I was served a whiskey old fashioned on the rocks, that is clearly not a normally ordered drink, and had to explain what ir was....then once served, it had knats in it. Also disappointing. On February 19, 2016 we hosted an event for approximately 100 people w/ students from Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana and Michigan. We pre-paid for 250 drink tickets ($600.00) and after I paid the tab they refused to serve us until the tickets were gone, so in essence they STOLE our money. In addition to that when I asked what the issue was they repeatedly walked past me or turned their backs on me. The co-owner further displayed his lack of professionalism when he chided with his regular customers, "she's probably going to put a negative comment on YELP, so as he requested, here it is. They probably realized more profit in 1.5 hours than they do in 2-3 days. He will never get any additional business from our entire college as I have spread the word. read more

BEWARE OF THE PARKING SCAM THAT IS GOING ON AT THIS BAR! My car got towed during our annual xmas party, along with three others. There would have been twenty to thirty more cars towed away at $325 a pop, if it hadn't been for bystanders outside who came in to alert us. Chris, the bar owner informed our company that we could park behind and adjacent to the bar. This is absolutely not true! In addition, he was the only bartender, for our group of 130 people. We were standing in line, waiting for a drink. What was he thinking? What a shame that Detroit businesses are screwing themselves. Why would we ever go back when we and YOU will have a negative experience when traveling into Detroit. Sad. There is no come back for Detroit when you have business owners like this. I found the service at 3rd Street to be great on the occasions I've visited. The bartender was friendly, laid back, and the prices were on par with other bars in the area. The food from the taco truck tasted as good as Mexican town- for very low prices. The interior of the bar is beautiful. I think the crowd is going to grow because the bar is unique: open plan, great aesthetic, excellent music and ambience. It's unique. The drinks were strong and the crowd was eclectic and interesting. I've only had good experiences and encourage others to visit 3rd Street. The formal menu is complete and the fish tacos rock! Homemade guacamole for 50 cents. I hope they don't boost prices. And don't knock the "pretty potties." This place is an architectural gem. I hope they get a good sign and lighting outside to match the rustic and minimalist interior. This is a great bar to hang out with friends. It's open air in the summer and has a great patio for smoking. The bartenders are incredibly friendly and makes great drinks! This bar has sort of a rugged, lodge-like vibe to it which I like. The beer selection is OK, but nothing too impressive. The sound system inside is absolute garbage, but the juke box has an impressive selection and is pretty cheap (less than $1 per song, I think). Worst, slowest, unapologetic, most inconsiderate bartender I've ever encountered in my hundreds and hundreds of nights out in the city of Detroit. The atmosphere isn't much to write home about. On my second visit here, the night of the "craptender," it was a Red Wings playoff game night, so it was filled with hockey fans. Unusual for Midtown, since most of those types hang out closer to downtown, if they come into the city at all. I didn't have a problem with the crowd, though if you hate being surrounded by dozens of people belting out off-key renditions of Journey songs, you might want to steer clear. But despite the crowd, there was only one bartender working. And he was rude, dawdling, unapologetic ("Do you want a copy of your receipt?" "Yes." Wait 5 minutes while he ignores me. "What do you want now?" "Uh, my copy of the receipt." "Dude, it was a $11 tab, what's the big deal?" Then he plods off and leaves me there.) In a nutshell, if you crave the crummy dive bars of Downriver with a slightly more well-off, college-crowd age clientele and where the service sucks and you get treated like crap, this is your place. Poor customer service and racism: I've been to this location 3 times. I will never go again. I went in on a Thurs night around 6. The place was empty except for the about 3 other patrons and what appeared to be the manager's significant other and a their child. Yes, there was a toddler running through the bar screaming while we were there. The bartender had to check with the manager bc my license expired 1 month ago (I am renewing it when I go home for Christmas). I am 30 years old. I was with 5 other graduate students ranging from 25-30 yrs old. The manager was sitting 2 stools down from me at the bar. The bartender and manger proceeded to have a rather long conversation. I walked over and politely explained that my ID was a month past expiration bc my birthday was last month; and that I would be headed home next week to renew it at semester's end. The manager did not turn around, did not make eye contact and did not acknowledge me at all. Instead he said harshly (still facing the bartender) "DONT EVER COME IN HERE AGAIN WITH THE EXPIRED LICENSE." I need to reiterate that I am 30 yrs old. I laughed- attempting to lighten his horrible mood and the very uncomfortable and aggressive interaction. I also cheerfully explained to him that I had visited his establishment before and he had even spoken to me about the beer selection on our last visit. He replied "I DONT WANT TO SEE YOU AGAIN WITHOUT THE NEW LICENSE." Keep in mind that a toddler was running through the bar at top speed (unsupervised) throughout this exchange. This picture should give you an idea of what kind of an establishment this place is. My 5 friends witnessed the whole thing and they all commented afterwards on how ridiculous his behavior was. It was extremely rude and offensive. It was also very clear that whatever this manager's issue with me was, it went beyond ensuring that I was of age to consume alcohol. His issue with me involved some sort of personal problem. As an African American woman from the south, I've seen this behavior before. There's a certain tone about negative interactions such as this that indicate a service provider's racial bias. My last such interaction was with a neo-natzi cashier at a gas station in Alabama. The neo-natzi and this bar manager shared the same tone, the same refusal to grant a customer the privilege of making eye contact, the same curt and rude responses, and the same refusal to engage in human conversation- choosing to instead bark commands as if speaking to an animal or a subordinate. I will never return to this bar. This manager is a complete jerk. He lacks class, customer service skills, or even the most basic understanding of how to interact with other human beings in a respectful manner. This bar should seriously reevaluate their employee selection process. This manager should find another profession immediately. Very simply put- he doesn't deserve his job. This bar has lost me as a customer and I will be advising everyone I know to avoid this place if they want to be treated with any decency. read more

That bald dbag you call a bouncer is probably why The Old Miami was packed wall-to-wall with people on a Thursday night when 3rd had a whopping 10.
