Great little indie bookstore. Small but mighty, located in quaint downtown McMinnville. Third Street Books is well curated and they have a lot of insightful handwritten staff recommendations placed by selected books, which is something we really appreciate about a good indie. We got a fascinating nonfiction book on the unseen world of plant intelligence for our botany fan, that we may not have otherwise picked up, thanks to a staff recommendation. read more

I absolutely love this little bookstore right in the middle of the iconic Third Street. This has been my go-to bookstore for the last year and a half and they have always had what I am looking for - or will order it and get it in quickly for pickup. I never feel like I am overpaying for a book, which I often do at other smaller book retailers. The value is great, the service is always friendly, and I am always so excited for my next visit. read more

Charming independent bookstore with beautiful displays and a nice variety of genres & unique titles, including new releases and bestsellers. Also a great place for cute, unique and local gifts. I like how the staff writes on post-it's telling you why they like the books. read more

I love cute book stores! Thought I'd have to go to Amazon (yuk) or Powell's ( Further then if like to go) to get Fat Chance, Charlie Vega by Crystal Maldonado. I'll be sure to stop in again, super cute, I loved the teen section for my teen to find somthing they may like. Definitely so at this store church it out by a book mark is cute! This is a great moderately sized bookstore in downtown McMinnville. They carry recently released books, best sellers and even a few books that relate to local history. It is nice to have a place to drop in after having breakfast in the area to pick up a book or two. read more

My rating today breaks my heart because I have gone to this book store for many years and have made purchases. I looked forward to visiting it every time I came to McMinnville for lunch. This week I went to look in the children's section and was dismayed that a large display of books inappropriate for children was right next to the children's section so you had to pass by in order to get to the children's section. I wish the display could have been in the adult section, not to the entrance of the children's section. I don't believe trying to sexualize our children is a benefit to them. As an adult I feel I have to stand up for the innocence of our children so I won't be visiting your shop again. read more

I was in town visiting family & came across 3rd street books. There were a couple of books I had been searching for and they didn't have the one I really wanted. One of the women had read the book and recommended even better books and authors after taking the time to get to know me. I cannot wait to come back! read more

This is a cute little bookshop which still manages despite its small stature to have a nice selection of a wide variety of subjects. I unfortunately was only able to browse while I was in because I was traveling and had no leeway with my luggage to get back home. But I was very happy to see a local bookshop available in town. Where I live it's Barnes and Noble or some used bookshops. I'd love the opportunity to support a local business and an author/publisher of books at the same time. read more

This is a nice bookstore located in downtown McMinnville. Many of the books are used books that are fairly cheap, while popular and new released books are full-price and new. The bookstore doesn't have a large selection, yet there are treasures to be found, especially books about Oregon or from local writers. There's a bathroom for customers, and there are discounted books towards the back of the store. read more

I like supporting local businesses, and I find Third Street Books always has a carefully edited selection of books I want to read. I stopped in a few days ago and picked up The Spectacular Now, I've seen previews for the movie and was unaware it was based off a novel. They have a thoughtful inventory and have personal recommendations from staff members posted next to books, sell and buy used books, and support their community. What's not to love? read more

My daughter and I love shopping at Third Street Books. They always have a great selection and very knowledgeable staff. Last time we were in we started to ask if they had a certain book in stock... the employee was pulling if off the shelf almost before we finished asking!!! Love it! read more

Third Street Books is one of my favorite shops downtown McMinnville. They have knowledgeable staff who can easily and expertly recommend books for you. They have an excellent "staff picks" section with handwritten explanations by the staff why they picked the book. If they don't have a book in stock, it's super easy to order it. This review might be a little biased because our only visit here was on "customer appreciation day" where they had free beer and pizza as well as a 20% discount on the most expensive item you purchased that day. We did not know about this prior to coming here. It was just luck, but the visit here made our day better. My daughter was able to get her face painted. I was able to have a few sips of awesome beer. My wife was able to look for some good books to read our 4-year-old at night. We all left happy :) There is a decent selection of books with a friendly staff. Stores like this add to the charm of McMinnville. We will definitely visit again! read more

Sweet small bookshop on 3rd, where you can browse the extensive Oregon authors section, find books about the region, and then pick up your favorite magazine and head to a local coffee shop to enjoy. Independent bookstores are "where it's at!" as far as I'm concerned, and finding ones that are not only surviving but thriving is a thrill on this cross-country adventure. A great independent bookstore! A terrific and thoughtful selection of books. I particularly love the handwritten staff suggestions - there's nothing better. Also a couple of the staff people have a deep knowledge of children's and tween lit and are really helpful in choosing books for gifts. It's a complete pleasure to shop in this store, and if they don't have what you want, they'll happily order for you and the book will usually arrive in a couple of days. read more
