If you have the ability, I recommend skipping Thomas Cumberland Subaru. Go to Hagerstown Carmax & Sheehy Subaru. By going to Hagerstown, we saved over 12k. We were able to save this money by selling our used car at Carmax (offers much better pricing on trade ins) and buying our new car at Sheehy Subaru (much larger inventory - easier to find exactly the car you want at the price point you want). Thomas Cumberland Subaru is convenient if you live in this area, but you are paying an extraordinary amount for it. read more

My Subaru broke down far from home, and in the middle of nowhere - a very distressing situation for an elderly woman driving alone. After 3 hours, I was able to arrange for a tow truck to take my car to the nearest dealership in Cumberland, MD. Although the repair was eventually made, it was extremely difficult to deal with the service department! First of all, they are only open 4 days a week. Second, any time I called I was placed on hold for more than 10 minutes. Several times, when someone finally came to the phone, my service technician could not be located. What?? After a week, when my car was finally repaired, I discovered that (on top of my $2000 repair) I was charged $62 extra because I used a credit card, which was all I had available under the circumstances. I've been a Subaru owner for 19 years, and have had only wonderful experiences with my dealer in VA, so I was amazed at the shoddy service provided by Thomas. Fortunately, I never have to deal with them again. Sure glad I didn't BUY a car from them! read more

Avoid Thomas Cumberland Subaru Hyundai Service Department Go toWeimer Hyundai of Morgantown If anyone is interested in a new Hyundai or used vehicle, my advice would be to avoid Thomas Cumberland Subaru Hyundai at all costs and go straight to Weimer Hyundai of Morgantown. The service department of Thomas Cumberland is nothing but a peanut gallery of incompetent people. I made an appointment for my brakes and wheel bearings to be checked 10 days before my appointment. My Santa Cruz had been making a roaring noise and figured it was a wheel bearing. It took over 3 hours (after asking about the time it was taking) to be told you need brakes and your wheel bearing is fine, lets schedule you another appointment to come back because we don't have the brakes in stock. They billed Hyundai for a multipoint inspection for this, which would include wheel bearings. Not only did they not have any brakes in stock they didn't give me any indication as what the noise could be. Finally after getting my brakes replaced locally, the noise proceeded to get louder. Thinking maybe it was rear differential since they stated my wheel bearings were fine, I made another appointment. I explained the situation to Service Manager and she stated to come down the next week and they will have a loaner for me. And after not getting a phone call and travelling one hour I was told they didn't have a loaner available and to come back tomorrow and I should have one available or go to a different location. Long story short, the noise was getting worse by the day and had to have it towed by rollback to Weimer Hyundai of Morgantown. They not only took my vehicle without appointment, they were able to diagnose and fix it the same day under warranty! It was the right rear wheel bearing, where i told Thomas the noise was coming from and Thomas Cumberland Hyundai said it was fine. The service department at Weimer wants their customers to be happy and feel valued, everyone went out of their way to help me out. I would highly recommend them to anyone interested in a vehicle. The one star is really stretching it. read more

The sales department is fine, Patrick was fine and did everything that I needed. Unfortunately, the service department is horrific. They took 2 weeks to diagnose that my previous cars transmission was dead, which I figured out the night it broke down by using a $50 OBDII scanner. Speaking of, someone who worked in the service department disconnected it and stole the device from my vehicle. It was left in my OBD port and upon checking for it, it was gone entirely from the car. For buying a car, the dealership is okay. However, the service department is worse than nothing, and will steal stuff from your vehicle while they do nothing. NEVER get service here, unless you enjoy waiting an indefinite amount of time for worse than nothing service and to be robbed. Never going to return here again, hope it was worth the $50 scanner. read more

We typically go to Thomas for our Subaru's oil changes. The first few times they were great. But, recently, the last two oil changes they have put non-synthetic oil in our car versus synthetic. We let it slide the first time, said something the second which ended in my husband was over the top irritated. Because when he mentioned it, their response was "ehh, it shouldn't do too much harm." Even though, both times, my husband made it clear we needed synthetic oil. Usually, were pretty easy going and quick to forgive simple mistakes. At this point we've just decided to go elsewhere for oil changes. read more

So our car broke down. Actually, that's far too mild a way of putting it. Our car broke when we were coming back from vacation. If it were a person there would have been solemn discussions about organ donations. However, the geniuses at Thomas Subaru's car repair shop diagnosed and fixed the problem in two days.
