The butterflies and bees were so attracted and feasting on the plants that they were not even bothered by my camera and presence. I really enjoyed this place and can't wait to go back when I have more time to look around and enjoy it! Stopped in for a quick browse while travelling and was completely WOWed by the plant selection! I scored a few native plants for the garden and one for inside. There were many plants id never seen before and could definitely see myself spending serious time and dollars here! Check it out if you're on the eastern shore! Homophobic and nasty. Not only is the quality of their plants poor, the condition of the plants will only get worse as the greenhouse is completely overgrown, pest ridden and entirely too hot for the plants with little to no air circulation. The plant negligence aside- the older gentlemen that owns the run down store is quite homophobic and aggressive about it. Upon PURCHASING a plant that was marked $10.99, he was quick to inform me the price was instead $16.99. He then charged my card twice, gave me a receipt before the transaction was complete and then decided to scoff at me for questioning it. I turned around and decided to return the overpriced plant and go back and get ANOTHER plant of the same size with the other $10.99 price to show this jaded individual how sporadically he has everything priced. Unfortunately before I could prove my point and question his method of entrapping customers and up-charging them at the register, he YELLED at me "you're not welcome back here". To which I calmly ignored him; waited for my refund that never came because their outdated systems and employees aren't capable of such elementary level tasks. I left the store to get my partner, bring him in and have him ask why I was told to leave. The employee changed his attitude real quickly, decided to not look at me whatsoever, told my boyfriend that I was "nasty" for asking a question about prices, and furthered nailing his foot into a coffin by saying he "doesn't like when customers complain". My partner asked if this could possibly be a sexuality thing since we are a gay couple, to which him and the other older lady behind the counter working just laughed. He then again said " you are not welcome here anymore" - essentially solidifying the message. I then called back later after reading the other yelp reviews that clearly describe racist, profiling behavior from the same elderly employee/owner - to which he YELLED back at me on the phone "I have gay friends and I'm not homophobic do not come back here" and again, if you're gay or have a sincere relationship with someone who is, you'd know this is a telltale sign of a homophobic person attempting to dodge the consequences of their bigotry. Please, if you are not cis-gendered, white, straight and wealthy, do not waste your time being harassed here. I have truly never met a more miserable person around so many plants. I guess when they go sour, so do you? Also if that older employee is happening to read this- invest in a good tooth brush and some strong mints! read more

My husband took me and my sisters on a day trip for my birthday to the Easter Shore today. Was a great hit plant shopping at Thomas Gardens! Was able to haul back a great selection of plants with fantastic prices. They buy from 5 different vendors and get a new shipment often. Would definitely recommend a trip out to the Eastern Shore and stopping by a few other locations along the way. Loved the vineyard, brewery, beach, and pot shopping! Took a road trip out to see the nursery with some friends. Although it isn't the biggest nursery I've ever been to, it has a decent selection of common plants as well as a few uncommon mixed in there. Prices were very fair. I will have to say though the customer service is disappointing. Absolutely a one star interaction with the employees. We weren't greeted at all but instead, heavily watched by a couple women who worked at the counter. It was obvious they weren't thrilled with our presence which is kind of disappointing since we drove 2 hours to visit. Not sure if we were being profiled but I don't think I'd return based off their unwelcoming demeanor. read more

Traveling down Route 13 to Chincoteague Island, you pass Thomas Gardens just before the turnoff to the Island. My wife and I will stop to browse despite very little room in the car to bring plants back to NJ. The first time we saw crape myrtle trees for retail sale was at Thomas. We have a very successful specimen - maybe 15 foot tall in our back yard (Zone 6) which we purchased here. read more

I love this place! Great plant selection, plus a super selection of bird feeders and garden accessories. The stock all looks great, and owners are knowledgeable, friendly, and very helpful. We approached Thomas Gardens for help in designing and implementing a native plant garden. While we've not yet got plants in the ground, I was impressed by how well they listened to my ramblings and created a design which I love. We stopped in here today, May 14, 2015 about 12:30pm. We were on a tight schedule since I had an appointment at 1.:30pm. We browsed and found some nice plants, one of which was quite thoroughly dry, but in bloom. We asked a male employee for the price, only to be informed that it wasn't for sale even though it was out on the rack with other plants. My friend pleaded with him to sell it to her, but he wouldn't budge. Realizing that time was running short I told her we needed to leave, and went to find our other friend. I did not realize the employee was behind me. When he heard me tell her we needed to go, he begin yelling at us, told us to leave and never come back.....that if we wanted cheap plants to go to Lowes. I told him we were leaving because I had an appointment, but he continued to yell and claim we had an "attitude." You can best believe none of us will ever shop there again, not will anyone we can convince not to do so. What a thoroughly nasty, unpleasant person to be dealing with the public. read more
