I had a very small job that I needed some metal cut & bent for (covering a 4x4 footrest for an outdoor bar. Nick was great in recommending the most durable material and getting me a quick price quote, which was reasonably priced. Once I got him the exact measurements, the finished product was quickly ready for me to pick up - they even used a partial sheet of metal from another job which saved me money! The staff cut and shaped a stainless steel piece for me very on the spot as promised to avoid me a second trip back. The manager and employees searched for a half sheet in the back to save me the cost of purchasing an entire sheet. Loading and tips on correct installation to ensure longevity and avoid errors in installation of my stainless steel in my kitchen. read more

History

Established in 1966.

Davis and Elizabeth Thompson founded the company in 1965 in their home brokering sheet metal. Mr. "T" sold galvanized steel, bonderized steel and copper flat sheets to local fabricators and HVAC companies. When he retired in 1992 he sold the company to a long time family friend, John Mathis. John had left his legal practice to find more meaningful work in Dallas with his wife Shelly. He found his passion at Thomson Metal Supply and began expanding the business. In 1999 he purchased Ferdinand Deickman, a conductor pipe elbow manufacturing plant in Ohio, and brought all the equipment to Dallas. Within a year the plant was up and distributing elbows nationally. In 2001 John's daughter Elizabeth took over the family business. She further expanded the company by incorporating gutter and downspout machines and a 20' metal brake. The company manufactures for the roofing and guttering industry for commercial and residential properties. "Every body needs a piece of metal."

Meet the Business Owner: ELIZABETH M.

Our company is a family owned manufacturing company. Davis Thompson started brokering sales of sheet metal out of his garage in 1965 and then acquired the building where we are currently located in 1968. He sold steel, paintgrip and copper to local sheet metal fabricators and HVAC companies. When he retired in 1992, he sold the business to long time friend John Mathis. John expanded the company by adding an elbow manufacturing division to the company. His daughter Elizabeth took over the company in 2001 and began purchasing gutter and downspout manufacturing equipment. We manufacture gutters and downspouts for commercial and residential properties, roofing flashings and accessories: chimney caps, louvers, vents, dormers, conductor heads, foundation vent covers, and finials. We also supply stainless steel, painted steel and aluminum, aluminum mill finish and diamond plate. Our motto is "everybody needs a piece of metal."

In order to wring a bit more performance out of my 1993 300zx, I decided to port and upgrade my…read moreheads. The stock heads are already well built so I knew I had to find a high quality machine shop. I visited two other local shops at first but neither would inspect the heads or quote me a solid price for the work when I visited. Both also lacked experience in head porting. Another shop wouldn't even bother taking my calls or returning my emails. Speed Specialties really stepped up to take on the job. They even took the time to compare two similar castings right when I stopped by. Their shop is quite clean and materials are kept organized. After a couple weeks of constant porting, I was treated with some of the best looking ports I've ever seen. Then, the guys completed the 4+ way valve job with a precision valve cutting machine. They also installed some Ferrea valves, JWT valve springs, JWT mild cams, viton stem seals, and new lifters. Through the process, both Garys kept me in the loop. When finished with the work, they walked me through the entire process as well as how/where material was removed. After installing my heads, both aligned perfectly to the lower intake. A leak-down test revealed no leakage through the valves. The finished heads are more than quality products, they're precise, high performance works of art. I know where I'm taking my next engine projects. Great work!
