As far as I can tell it was built in 1955 and is not one of the grand and historic ones frequently found in New England. But if definitely is a nice library, The staff here were very friendly and gracious and were a great source of information. They could tell you just about everything you could possible want to know about the library and the Putnam area. Librarians like this are a treasure, a resource that is inreplaceable . The library itself is pleasant with plenty of places of sit and lovely ceiling and windows. Plenty of computers and the usually library stuff. Not a stunning grand old library but a practical and useful place. Definitely not a place that will shock you with it's elegance and aesthetic wonders. But a pleasant and useful place to find a book and perhaps do some research.

Basically everything you expect at your average library. Both the kids area and the teens area have double doors so if there's a function in those rooms it's really not that loud.

But it was becoming increasing obvious that as the town grew so did the need for a larger library. So a lovely new library was opened in the year 2010. It's named after Pearl Crawford, a brilliant woman in the town that could apparently do just about everything. Pearl passed away in 1971 but now her memory lives on in a library that she would have loved. The library is very modern and spacious and gives the appearance of one long room. But in reality there are separate rooms off to the side of the main area. The library has a really cool internet café room with pithy quotes on the walls and a booth that looks more at home in a real café. It also has a wonderful children's room with all kinds of cool things to read, play and look at. There was even a visit from Queen Elsa and Princess Anna while we were there. A modern, friendly and very, very useful and convenient library. It's easy to see this library serving the town for at least the next century or two.

A lot more than books…read more The very first idea for a library in North Library Woodstock started back in 1854. However they was really no place to put the books so the idea of a library came and went. Finally in 1944 a room in a local church was designated as the official library and the books were unceremoniously shoved in it. That served for a few years until in 1950 an old school house that was built 1843 was handed over to the library association. The old school house was cool and quaint and still serves as the library today. Forgot about the books, this is a cool place to visit just to check out the building. You can still see the old blackboard hanging on the wall, the scorched marks on the floor from the old wood stove, the coat room where the kids hung their coats and even an old desk. Of course the old school didn't have indoor plumbing so the old out house is still in the back. In fact the library didn't get indoor facilities until the 1970's so that old crapper was in use until fairly recently. The very nice librarian was friendly and funny and gave us a grand tour of her library. Another one of these small town librarians that knows she works in a unique and amazing library so she can be real cool about it. A building that does indeed serve as a library but also as a window to the past. Old, quaint, historic and with a very, very cool librarian. This is a library that is difficult to find but worth the effort. You even get to see an old out house.

I like using the computer there to look up some movies that are coming up in the present year or the next year and to see what kind of adult books they have for me that are adult enough for me to read. Also, shout out to James the librarian for continuing to help me with everything I need there and still helping me with stuff there! A very versatile…read morelibrary The Bracken Memorial Library actually is two libraries in one. It serves as the high school library for the Woodstock Academy but also functions as one of the four public libraries for the town of Woodstock. It's a modern and very pleasant library with a cool balcony and lots of room to spread out. A rather unusual floor plan makes finding stuff easy and there are little nooks and corners that allows you to find a place to study or relax. Some cool old pictures of rather stoic looking fellows grace the walls. The librarian there was exceptional friendly and seemed to enjoy telling us about the history of the town and academy. The old, original field stone library is just around the corner and can still be observed. This is a library that will continue to serve the academy and people of the town for many decades to come.

The lady looked up both tracking number, and put my customers packages at the retail desk for easy pickup for her. WOW! My post office ALMOST NEVER EVER pickups up the phone, unless you let it ring forever. Then if you do that, they simply pickup the receiver and hang up on you. So Impressed with your Customer Service! I only wished I had written down the lady's name!
