So, I handed her my credit card (ugh, I really hate having to do that anymore), and went out to start pumping fuel. As I was filling my tank, I noticed that I could have saved 10 cents a gallon vs 1 or 2% from using a credit card (hits self in head; gotta get use to this cash discount thing on fuel down here). But, when I went back inside to pay, she hadn't charged my c/c yet, so I was able to pay cash after all. 8-) So, rather than my c/c bill having $17.77 ($2.359/gallon; but try to buy 9/10 cent worth of gas, and see what happens. Lol), and saving .17 or .34 cents after the fact. I saved .76 cents immediately. Granted, one can't buy much with .76 cents. But, when filling up every so often, it do add up.

There is a freezer full of frozen food options with a microwave and plastic utensils. A fridge full of drinks. A Keurig coffee maker. Lots of typical convenience store items, e.g., pain relief and hygiene items, greeting cards. The store also offers laundry and dry cleaning with next day service. There is a shoe shining station, though I've never seen anyone using it. Cash only for purchases under $5 (or something low like that). So, lets begin with the admission that my review contains thoughts and feelings that have rolled downhill from Goodlettsville, TN and may have little or nothing to do with goings on in Atlanta, GA. Nows sit back, I need to lock this harness in place before you strat moving... oh shit. So, my experiences as a customer we're generally good. Returning a purchase, provided you stick to the "A, B, C, 1, 2, 3" of DGX's rules is straightforward. Shopping is as one would expect. Easy in a clean and safe environment. This store does see higher than typical traffic from Atlanta's Downtown/Midtown homeless population. As a citizen who has both done work on local streets directly with this population AND hace myself lived through a rough patch and briefly suffered those same streets, I whish DGX would give some serious thought to how to better work with the local homeless as customers and less as the vagrants I have seen them be treated as by thes leadership at this location. Maybe DGX could add a paid security guard to sit at the door? AT THIS MOMENT DGX in Midtown Atlanta sits at an inflection point. I'll be damned if the good lord himself didn't let the store catch fire. They are closed and as I understand it, remodeling with a grand re-opening date to soon be announced. Hopefully, the corporate folks will pay more than just lip service to customer loyal and friendly security. When it reopens hopefully they will have noodled out a way to both cut shoplifting and improve customer service. I went to pick up some prescriptions, but 2 of them weren't ready, so I waited for about 15 minutes or so and came back to the cashier to pick them up. That's when I was told their system was down and they couldn't finish processing my order. Since I use public transit for the handicapped and I had a few minutes before pickup time, I asked the lady at the counter how long it would take for the system to come back on line and she said it would take 15-20 minutes. Since I had the time, I told her I'd like to wait. After 20 additional minutes, an announcement came over the store's PA system saying that all transactions were cash-only since the store's entire system had crashed. Realizing that I had ample cash to pay for my order, I approached the check-out counter and informed the cashier that I had sufficient funds to pay cash, but she still refused to fill my order. When I protested that I was using para-transit services, and I would have to make a second trip, somebody called out from behind the counter, "Ahhh, he doesn't have a car", and everybody called out from behind the counter, "Ahhhhh" all in unison! I have never in all my 70 years been shown such extreme contempt and disrespect for the elderly and disabled such as myself. I have already moved all my prescriptions to another pharmacy, and I will never shop at another CVS ever again. I would strongly advise all others to do the same.
