Booking with this hotel DIRECTLY from USA was challenging…read more Was able to get room for $250 a night with radisson membership. Check in was easy, but there may be a line. Room was cozy and bedding comfortable. Walls are thin and was fortunate there were few other guests. Some one else may have better luck than I did in how to operate TV. Free Wifi was available. Hotel restaurant was pricey. Fish & chips was $30 with 10% discount for reward members. Dish included breaded cod, small green lettuce with peas and less than crispy potatoe fries. Served less than 5 minutes after ordering. It was A-OK. As stated often, the hotel is directly across the street from airport, like a 2 or 3 minute easy walk. Very convenient for early flights. Would book again.

One reaches the hotel by exiting the arrivals level near baggage claim 21, crossing the street, and walking down a short covered walkway. If you are arriving by train, the hotel is connected to the train station on the opposite side via a short driveway. Our adjoining rooms on the second floor overlooked the main terminal. I couldn't do any plane spotting from here, though. But just as lovely, I couldn't hear any aircraft either. The room was modern and comfortable. I would have liked a heated bathroom floor, though, like every other Norwegian hotel we stayed at on this trip. The included breakfast was excellent. I had the best scrambled eggs here at this buffet on our trip. We took the train down to Oslo for dinner and last-minute shopping. Since we had no luggage, we tried the regional train instead of the express for half the cost. It's well worth it and takes only slightly longer. When exiting the train at the airport station, walk in the opposite direction from everyone else for the quickest way back to the hotel.

This is probably my favorite hotel near the Oslo airport. If you are going to splurge on a good…read morehotel, this is the place to do it. It is within walking distance of the airport and is perfect for any kind of traveling. The staff is very accommodating and will happily meet any needs that you may have. I requested additional pillows and towels for my stay, and they were in the room upon arrival. My room was impeccably clean. The bed, linens and towels were all of nice quality. The mattress felt like a cloud and was exactly what I like to sleep on. In addition, there is a restaurant downstairs. They serve a variety of foods and even have daily specials. I ordered the scallop appetizer and salmon dinner. The presentation on both were tasteful and the scallops were delicious. However, the salmon was extremely salty. I'm not sure if this is the usual way they prepare it but I could not eat much of it. All in all, I'd happily return in my future visits.

We ate…read moreat the RBG restaurant that night, I ordered the steak and a drink, my wife ordered the chicken. The food tasted decent, but it was extremely expensive for what you got- meat, some potatoes heavily bathed in butter and cream, and some kind of ball of arugula with an Italian dressing. The chicken was incredibly over salted, my wife couldn't finish the whole thing so I tried a bite to confirm that. At that point we were willing to chalk this up to a bad restaurant experience which happens, but the next morning she started vomiting uncontrollably, and I came down with bad stomach pain and intestinal distress. This almost made us miss our flight to Tromsø for the rest of our honeymoon, and we nearly had to visit a hospital as she was unable to keep down fluids to stay hydrated. Not the way we wanted to start our honeymoon. Once we were at the hotel in Tromsø and not feeling deathly ill, about a day later, I called to let the hotel know about this issue and request a refund for our dinner which totaled about 1000 kroner, or over $100. The staff member at the desk took my email and said a "service manager" would contact me. From his tone it was clear to me he thought I was pulling some kind of scam. It has now been three days and I have received absolutely no response from the management. I will be filing a chargeback with Visa for this if the matter is not resolved. The room was clean, but the bathroom had drainage issues from the shower being on the same level as everything else. There was a little useless green shield that you could kinda swing around to avoid spraying the toilet but overall it did nothing to stop the water going all over the floor, you have to waste a towel to not have your feet soaking wet on the cold hardwood floor. The staff were friendly and nice, and I really enjoyed being able to airplay to the TV, but the fact that food safety is obviously not a priority here would caution me to recommend this hotel to anyone else.

They are almost little portable pods that are all attached by hallways. It reminded me of the little portable school rooms from grade school. The room itself was nice and bright with natural light and fun, cheery blues and greens in the decor. Everything was clean and I felt safe, so there's not much more you can hope for in a one night layover stay. The bathroom was super bright and full of light, which was nice to wake you up in the morning when you need to catch your flight. A fire alarm did go off somewhere in error, so we had to all head outside. That's nobody's fault or anything, but I'm glad the little pods each do have the capability to hear the alarms. They also offer a shuttle to the airport (Gardermoen), which I utilized and was great since I was just there for the overnight layover, from the airport and back in the morning. There are a few eateries nearby (I got Peppe's) that you can order delivery from. They also have an eatery of their own at the main check-in area that you can grab some things from. I wouldn't so much stay here for my entire Norwegian trip or anything, but If you want an inexpensive option that is right near the Oslo airport (with a shuttle), definitely consider Thon Gardermoen as an option.

On your way to or from Oslo? Then The Thon Hotel is a great place to chill out for the night and…read morerelax before your next flight. It's very close to the Oslo airport and a quick bus ride gets you there and back easily. Let's start at the beginning. The Lobby. It's nice and clean but small for a hotel with a lot of traffic. There's a waiting/dining area which is handy and the restaurant is right across from the registration desk. The Dining Room & Food. The dining room is a good sized room and if you are meeting your group there, seating is easy. Dinner, on the other hand, was a disappointment to me. There's one entre' per night. The first night I was there, dinner consisted of hamburgers. I am ok with that, but there was no other choice. There was a basic salad bar with a few entries, but nothing special. Everything is self-serve which is convenient if you are in a hurry. Breakfast was the better of the two meals. Breakfast served 3 different types of eggs (yes, I love eggs) and they were all cooked properly but the scrambled eggs were a bit dry for my taste. There was some breakfast meat as well, sausages and greasy bacon. Yogurt and fruit were also available with unlimited coffee on tap. The best part? The meals are free, included with your room, so there's nothing to complain about. And, there's nothing else nearby to visit for a dining experience unless you want to back to the airport. The room itself was small but clean and comfortable. The beds are good, the puffy comforters are a bit too warm for me, but there was no alternative (cotton blanket option) so the only choice was to open a window. In the middle of Feb, that option was not one you can stick with for long. I was either too hot or too cold. The bathroom was clean and stocked with towels but not much else. There's a soap dispenser in the shower instead of lots of little soap bars, which I like much better. My biggest complaint is that there are stairs at the entrance with no ramp. I had heavy bags with me and I would have preferred to have a ramp to get my bags into the lobby, particularly when there is ice and snow on the steps. Staff was overall friendly and accommodating, it was a pleasant stay overall. For the one night I was there, it was perfectly adequate and served my needs as an airport stop over. It's far less expensive than the Raddison which is on the airport property and if you don't mind the bus ride, it's a great alternative to an expensive one night stay.
