But I think…read morethe biggest letdown is the Price, I stayed in one of the lodges,(lodge 6 to be exact) and it was over about £1,300 A NIGHT which is outrageous but I mean it is considered a 5 star resort however in the actual lodge it wasn't the best.:very small garden,dead flies on the bed,shower door was broken and filthy and even the power plug Exploded! However room service did come and help us replace it. But if it was a 5 star resort! Then it shouldn't have been broken in the first place! In the lodge and all around the hotel there are shuttles you can order (free of charge) to take you anywhere and I guess that is nice. Because it cost so much a night it won't really be possible to stay a long time which leads to the next problem. Because of all the other people staying there it is really difficult to get into activities because you have to book them a day in advance and the app is quite faulty and buggy to even get a chance to book it and because you can barely stay there long. I came into here expecting to experience the 5 star experience and that I would try do do every activity but the sheer lack of time that you stay there it is incredibly difficult to do 4 activities out of the tens of ones it has to offer! In the evenings you can go for a fancy meal but some of them are outrageously expensive! I came here on a family reunion and for our evening meal we went to a buffet called The Olive Tree. In the buffet section you have a wide variety of foods and if you want chips I would recommend you don't have them unless you want your mouth to be filled with potato that is basically uncooked! They were flopping about and so delicate they were all squished and broken in the actual tub. So as a conclusion I think I have enjoyed staying here but the other factors have brought it down it wasn't as unexpected for a 5 star resort.

The course was extended to 18 this year. Some tricky long holes (for a girl) and one nightmare par 3 (miss the green and you are doomed!). The accommodation in the motel style was also very good with a spacious room and good facilities, again with great views over the bay. The breaksfasts were hearty and included in the room rate which was good value but dinner in the restaurant was not something I would do again. The food itself was fine but some of the combinations were a little odd and not well thought out (boiled swede and salmon with pesto or risotto with boiled potatoes or chips!) If you want to get away from it all, this is definately a good place to do it but be warned, you are miles from anywhere and Newport Bay itself appears to close very early in the evenings so don't expect anything in the way of nightlife.

The main bedroom area was large but the furniture was very old fashioned and the paint was beginning to look very tired and yellowing. There were some complimentary toiletries by the sink but one of these had obviously been used. We attended an evening wedding party and were shocked at the bar prices - £4.30 for a single malibu & mixer and £3.50 for a bottle of lager. We booked an early morning wake-up call at 7.30 but this did not happen. The grounds are beautiful and the full english breakfast was excellent but overall I would not recommend this to my friends or family.

We left without singing happy birthday to my daughter, she was so upset and says she never wants to go back. I've emailed customer service to be told I would get a refund on our pre booked food but the money we spent on our card would need to be cleared. Ive sent proof of purchase and 1 week later still no refund. Also the money I paid In cash, I would need to go back into hollywood bowl (get PDSD) and they would give it back. Also they still have our cake if we want it. (What we going to do with a cake now?) And they said sorry. That's all we got was SORRY. That will never make up for anything that happened that day and for anyone else looking to take your child here to celebrate I would avoid it. The main house, which is where such events take place, is stunning, with high quality furnishings and well stocked bars. There's a number of rooms available in the outbuildings as well, so it doubles up as a hotel/high quality B&B. In a place like this, you'd expect to pay high prices, and that you do, but it's not unjustified as the experience here is something quite special. They do attempt to give leeway where possible - for example, the annual golf membership has a low sign up fee and then 'points' can be topped up for the time used on the course, rather than one large sum for the year which allows room for unfair payments. The hotel rooms range in standard and price from £130 to over £300 per night - which ever standard you choose, you can be sure everything will be perfect and finished to an immaculate standard.
