This is such a cool spot! My family went on Father's Day to hit some golf balls. We followed it up by eating at the grill and bar area. It was all so delicious, we kept ordering more food for all of us to share. The chicken tenders were delicious, especially with Buffalo sauce and the view was amazing! We liked it so much we have some back to eat again. Unfortunately, the chicken tenders were different last time we went and definitely not as good as they were the first time. I hope that's temporary! Overall, this is a great place to sit and eat, even if you're not interested in golf. The food and view are enough! read more

This is a fabulous little find, the modest cafe at the Thorn creek Golfcourse in Thornton. My wife and I stopped there for lunch on a whim, and were very surprised at the quality of the food. We had differing hamburgers and spol;it a large Caesar salad, the waiter suggesting that he split into two plates the one salad we ordered. The 'server"--really it is to a certain extent self-service, but there's a good man who is a jack of all trades, bringing food, cordinating things in front of the kitchen--was a terrific guy wanting to be as helpful as he could. It was a cool, pre-Winter day, so we chose to stay within the sheltered portion of the cafe, but there is a vast patio for the good days of summer. Things aren't fancy, and you'll pre-pay a cashier at the liquor counter for your food, but this is all a sort of blessing in disguise. Burgers were at 11-12 dollars, but they were excellent, cooked per request to medium rare, and there were a number of suitable condiments, all clean and proper, in jars at the table. My wife was a tad disappointed that there wen't soups on the menu, and we recommended to them that for Winter they add a soup or two, and advertise the heck out of themselves, as during our current Covid sujppressions, they might develop a good take-out business. We just paid $10:50 for a pedestrian double burger and fries with Coke at Wendys, so really, this big single burger with good complementary French fries outdid the fast-food place by far for little difference in price. Visiting my parents in Colorado and had the pleasure of playing Thorncreek. Rented a set of new TaylorMade irons and the M6 driver for $30. Worth it playing on such a fun course. This course is challenging. Fast greens with lots of slope. Playing from the "2" tees was perfect for a high 70s/low 80s golfer. Ended up shooting 86 with one only birdie and missed almost all my birdie putts. Feels fine having never played this course/not my own clubs. Par 5s are all long but played reachable with the wind on two of the four. Lots of space to miss on some holes but accuracy is rewarded. Carts had GPS which was huge having not played in altitude very often. Tee times were every 10 minutes which seemed fine. We only waited on a handful of shots on the back 9. Overall, loved the course. Price $50+ seems about right for a course well so maintained. Couple of dry patches here and there on a couple holes but 98% of the course is perfect. Would love to play it again next time I visit. read more

Played a round in 4 hours and 15 minutes on a weekend. Staff was nice and the grill was quick at the turn. Course is in great shape and fun to play. When we started the round the starter set the expectation of our group playing in 4 1/2 hours. Great job will be back to play again read more

I encountered one of the golf pros there that was rude in behavior I didn't get his name but he looked like grown up version of kid in Christmas story that got the red rider BB gun. Stay away from this guy grumpy dude who doesn't quite understand who pays his salary, "it's the customers who play there ya ding dong" anyway other than him everyone is nice polite and friendly and I love the course. read more

Great course up north. The front and back are completely different and challenging in different ways. The front has very challenging greens and the back is long. The staff is always friendly and very welcoming. The outside patio/bar is a great place to hang out after your round. Great practice facility. I guess if you buy a bucket of balls and dont use them that day they wont let you use them later in the week. Took my son to hit balls with a receipt from earlier in the week and machine would recognize the pin. Went into pro shop to see if they could fix the issue. Lady working there with the personality of a door stop was not willing to take care of the issue and was quite rude. With my 6 year old son and he even noticed the rudeness. What happened to customer service. No where on the range ball ticket does it say you have to redeem that day. You just lose $8! Went to another course to hit balls. read more

By far one of the best public courses in the Denver area. The staff is great, the course is in excellent condition, and the pace of play is solid especially for a more difficult track like Thorncreek. I don't even live in Thornton but this has become my home course because of what a great facility it is. read more

Food and drinks were good. Service was great and we had a good time. The price... there are better venues that are better priced. Go to Outback, get their cheese fries and load up on drinks. THEN and only then, Uber there. Or get a bucket of balls at the driving range. read more

Got an e mail that this course was having a special, $25.00 for green fees and a cart. Although I am not use to driving around a golf course in a cart, I decided to utilize the deal. Called and requested a tee time, first one they had was 11am, I took it. The course is one of the newer type that is incorporated in a housing development, so as well as seeing golf course architecture, you also see a variety of homes, duplexes and the like. Clubhouse is nice, practice area has a small driving range and a large practice green. The carts seem to be new models, kind of "apace", they do not have GPS. Staff is friendly and helpful. The course itself is a nice layout. It is a design by Finger/Spann/Dye, not sure how such a collaboration works but I did not recognize any one style. The significant feature are the greens. I have never seen greens that have more slope and elevation change, many of them look like there is a large grass wave somewhere in the green. Few flat spots on these greens and the greenskeeper the day I played must have had a bad night as he had the pins in crazy places. I imagine that there were some who played that day who spent time putting the ball to the hole only to have it roll back down to where they started. Maybe that is what made the pace of play so slow. A little more than 5.5 hours to play 18 holes. Unacceptable to me for a round of golf. The greens were, I felt, tricked up, no need for that much "up and down". One was actually a 3 / 1, meaning that is was 3 times wider than it was long (front to back as opposed to side to side), never seen one of those before. Greens such as these indicate to me that the architect was trying to prove to the golfer that he could create something that the golfer could not conquer, an easy win for the architect but not much fun for the players and something that should not come into play with design. The course was in good condition, fairways nice, greens fairly smooth and without burns or bare spots. The rough did need some trimming as it was easy to lose a ball just hitting it a few feet off of the fairway. No real memorable holes, but pleasant enough for play. I would and probably will go back, as long as they have a special like this one. read more

Golf staff is nice, remodel was done great. Practice facility and course are great. Piss poor restaurant service. We were the only people in the dining area and 2 waitresses acted like we didn't exist. Had to ask for menus, had to approach the bar to order, food took a long time to come, green chili on the breakfast burrito was cold, approach the bar again to pay, never offered a refill until I took the cup to the bar. It was too much for them to look away from their phones to show some customer service. read more

This course is almost in my backyard. So, I am a bit partial. Great view of the Rockies and reasonably priced. It is owned by the City of Thornton, but run by a private company. Love the driving range with its great view. It does run around the housing development. Nice little clubhouse with a bar inside. They do have a happy hour and you can sit outside after a round of golf. Course is not overly hard. Well worth the price to play here. read more

Considering this was my first time golfing EVER in a company sponsored tourny I don't have too much to compare it to. With that being said I did like the course, the bar and also the fact that it was right off of the highway. I'd play it again...when I actually learn how to play! read more

Customer Service: Most of the time, the staff are dismissive and rude. 1. At one point I booked a tee time with a cart and I called in to confirm about the course's condition which they said everything is good to go. I got there after a 40 minute drive and they dismissively told me that no carts are allowed, not even a push cart due to snow. I had a staff bag with me. Didn't get any refunds or a TRUE apology whatsoever. 2. Marshals are non existent here. The people that play ahead of you will do whatever they want and in their own pace, making a 4 hour round into a 5 1/2 hour round or even more at times. 3. I'm currently on hold on the phone for 20 minutes and on going. They must have forgotten about me. PS: Just spoke with the assistant manager on the phone and he was sincere. I will change my star rating of the course Customer service in the course of time. Course: Course layout itself is pretty nice in my opinion. But the maintenance has left to be desired in some areas. read more

Every time I head to the northern burbs to hit sticks I'm pleasantly surprised. The quality of Thorncreek is definitely a bit above the Denver munis where I usually play, but of course so is the price. That, however, shouldn't be a deterrent. A 7:40a tee time on a Saturday morning yielded great weather. Solid clubhouse with some friendly service. Hitting the course showed us some fairways and greens that were in very good shape on the front side. The back side had great greens, but the fairways had a few pretty noticeable brown spots in areas. Not knowing how recent the aerial map views are, I'd say they're pretty recent because they match what we experienced on the course pretty closely. Beware the greens though, because many of them are 3-greens-in-one with multiple tiers and breaks to navigate. I couldn't get a handle on anything on the front side. The greens offer a really great challenge. That being said, it only played a little slow, and was in overall fantastic shape. The course offered much more challenge than I expected, and my scores showed it -- 58 on the front. But on the back side I picked up a little and shot a 44. I think the back is easier, especially the greens. Overall the golfing experience was great. I won't hesitate to go back. The only downfall was the service at the bar after our round. It was noon on a Saturday and they only had two guys in the kitchen with no bartender. Our food (while really, really tasty) took almost 45 minutes to arrive, and beers were on the slow-side too since the kids in the kitchen had to work the bar too. So, they lose marks for what looked to just be a pretty poor staffing decision. Other than that, great stuff. I'm on board with Thorncreek. read more

I used to play Thorncreek weekly when it was managed by a private group but haven't been there in some time. I decided to give it another shot and all I can say is, "Wow!" Very impressive. The staff in the pro shop is vastly different and so much better. The course, and in particular the greens, is in great shape. And it was nice that they have the tees moved up on various holes in order to help the pace of play. I'll definitely start coming back now. We'll done! 4 of us set up a tee time and showed up to have a relaxing fun time. The guy who was our 'starter' was rude and hassled us the whole first half of our game. He rode up at every hole with something new to tell us delaying our pace of game. The course was sloppy to say the least the grass was mostly dead, you can't see down range on most holes, and the places where the grass wasn't dead it was marshy and sloppy. There were no maps and it was very hard to tell where you were going. Then to top it off the beer truck only came around twice the whole time blaming the busyness of the back 9. It was not busy at all and if it was why isn't there two beer trucks? The only reason they are even getting one star is due to the friendliness of the beer truck girl when she happened to come around. We will never return. Do not go here if you are looking for a relaxing fun experience! read more

Went there yesterday around 6 pm and had a wonderful time. Staff was friendly and the course was lovely. Only reason I give it four stars was because the sprinklers got turned on as we were finishing our round! The most challenging municipal course in Denver. From the back tees this track is a beast. Watch out for #7 one of the hardest par 5's around at 630 yards. I would love to see the pros play it and challenge any scratch golfer to break 80. I just love the layout it is awesome. read more

The practice facility was poor before TCGC closed for a two year renovation and the worst in the area now. They completely eliminated the chipping green and sand bunker. The driving range is overpriced compared to other courses in the area, and customer service is very poor. Try Broadlands, Riverdale or Colorado National, all much better. read more

This course has so much promise, and the $25 twilight rate is excellent, but it was only a three star experience because of the poor condition of many of the fairways. There were tons of dead spots; much more than I saw anywhere else this summer, and I played at about 15 places. As someone said, they also need to mark the yardages on the sprinkler heads like every other golf course. All that being said, it is a challenging course with many tight shots that I generally enjoyed. read more

My home course. Staff is friendly and knowledgable. Course is somewhat challenging but not extremely difficult. Prices are good. Course does have a few issues with drainage and can get a little wet but they have been working towards fixing those issues. Pace of play is usually pretty quick. Food in the clubhouse is really good, I especially enjoy their Reuben! Beer carts on course also help. Good time! read more

For those golfers who have avoided Thorncreek in the past due to past management practices should take another look. The city of Thornton took over management of Thorncreek earlier in the year and they have done a magnificent job! The staff is pleasant, the course much improved and it is a pleasure to play. The city invested around $500 thousand in improvements and it is clearly noticeable. Thorncreek has always been a challenging layout and now it is a pleasure to play! read more

Not the course I would want for a home course, but definitely worth checking out. Has some interesting holes that are easier if you've played it before. Accuracy is at more of a premium than length on this course. You can find some great specials in the summer time. read more

Although the course is scenic and in decent shape, a complete lack of course management led to a nearly 6 hour round. There was no course ranger out and I had to call the club house from the 4th tee box to let them know we were stacked four deep on the tee box. After our round I found out that the course was operating with a reduced staff until the "peak season", despite 60-70 degree forecasts the whole week, and next week. This course is ok for the Denver area. But not worth what we had to experience. Our outing on August 21st was absolutely awful. Their marshalls and management are completely misguided and ignorant. We received 1 warning on the front nine about not keeping up with the threesome in front of us. (we were a foursome) At no point were we slowing the group behind us. On hole 10 we were told to skip a hole, even though nobody was behind us. Why would you rush your patrons unnecessarily? We were approached once again on hole 14 and told to skip 2 holes because we were not on a 4 hour pace, even though the group behind us was 2 HOLES BEHIND! When we argued this point the marshall said we could talk to his GM if we had a problem, and which we did. The GM also told us to hurry, even though he had no clue (basically info from his dumb ass marshalls) about what was happening on the course. For this alone I will never return to this course. In addition to this, the course was in terrible shape! This summer in the Denver area has by no means been drought-like. This course was full of brown, dead grass. At times the course looked like it was winter golf! Thorncreek, there are plenty of golfing options in the Denver area, and your customer service sucks! read more
