This experience was an absolute disappointment, stressful, and disgrace! The only reason I went to Thornhill Hyundai was to look at and test drive the extremely limited number of Ionic 6 vehicles. After failing in love with the colour and features, decided to purchase it from this establishment, with THE ONLY REASON BEING THE EXTREMELY LIMITED AVAILABILITY OF THESE VEHICLES AND MY OPTIONS AT OTHER MORE PROFESSIONAL AND COURTEOUS DEALERSHIPS!!! Firstly, what should have been a simple sale and process based on my experience over the past 12 years, I was there and it took over 9.5 hours to finalise the purchase (arrived at 11:00 and left at 20:45). The contradictions and false claims made from the so-called General Sales Manager, Ahmed Singer, regarding first, his statement as to having no control over the interest rate for my financing, and then in the next sentence, claiming to have full control over the interest rate I would get, based on his years of dealing with the banks! Absolute nonsense, as not only does he in fact have NO CONTROL OVER THE VARIOUS BANKS OFFERS, AS MY CREDIT HISTORY AND SCORE WILL IMPACT THIS DECISION, NOT HIM!!
More frustrating and bothersome was his attitude and demeanour in the way he communicated with me, a potential customer! If I were able to purchase this vehicle at another dealership, I definitely would have immediately walked out and gone elsewhere!
Eventually, after waiting hours, the Finance manager had contacted the financial institutions to determine my interest rate. Approaching me, all proud of himself and taking sole credit for negotiating the best interest rate with Scotiabank. What BS! Regardless of spending all this time there as well as in his office, when I later asked him a question, he had no idea who I was nor the finer yet simple details as to my purchase. A very clear display of lack of interest and personal interest and care.
What really bothered me were the lies and ignorance on the part of my salesman, Sean. Not only did he fail to ensure that the charging station was operational, and my vehicle was fully charged, but once ready to leave on the day I picked up my car (purchased on Wednesday, picked up following Saturday), my battery was only 1/3 charged. Even after making me wait when picking up my car, he would never accept responsibility, yet make numerous excuses!
According to the purchase agreement and what was stated to me, the vehicle had 89 km on the clock, however when taking ownership and driving it away, this was another lie, as there was
119 km on the odometer. Not a huge difference, but where was the vehicle driven and why lie about the odometer reading???
Additionally, when I picked up my car, he suddenly informed me that the charger I purchased was not available to me. Furthermore, falsely claiming that he sent me an email to enquire as to whether my home could accommodate the wiring and charger, after informing him that it could, I had NEVER received any email from him or any other staff member at the dealership to enquire about this. Subsequently promising me that it is being delivered, and I would receive it the following week, was another lie!
Finally, yet another lie on behalf of Sean... I had to eventually call him and enquire as to when I would be receiving my proper charger. He had no idea as to who I was, had to look up my purchase, and made me a promise that he would follow up with Parts department via email, and update me the following day. No call or update was received, so upon calling the dealership, I was advised that Sean had the day off. He was obviously aware that he would not be at work, so why promise to call and update me the following day, when he knew he would not!!!!
IT IS CLEARLY OBVIOUS THAT ALL THAT INTERESTS THE STAFF ARE MAKING A SALE AND PROFESSIONAL COURTESY, CUSTOMER SATISFACTION, PROFESSIONALISM, AND HONESTY IS TOTALLY IRRELEVANT!!! ONCE THE DEAL IS SIGNED, YOU MAY AS WELL BE TOTAL STRANGER AND TREATED LIKE A PIECE OF DIRT. read more
