This is part of several park and ride carparks around Oxford. I recommend Thornhill if you're approaching from the East. If you're coming to Oxford at the weekend it's definitely worth using park and ride, because if you don't find driving in Oxford a nightmare with all the tour groups, buses and cyclists, you'll certainly find parking a major issue. Most places in the town centre are pay and display with a maximum time limit of a couple of hours.
The basic idea with park and ride is pretty self explanatory. Parking is free, so you only pay for the bus (bus number 400) You can stay for up to 72 hours here and at Water Eaton park and ride, which is longer than the 24 hour limit on most of the others. The buses come frequently and take you right into the city centre, with several stops along the way.
It's not glamorous, but it's very convenient, doesn't take long and you know your car's safe, as they have security guards and 24 hour CCTV. I've never heard of anyone having any security problems. read more
