Deborah represented me in a divorce and protective order. Her tactics were a bit much and…read moreunnecessary cost and fees. She filled for a discovery (which was not necessary with out asking me so I was left with large bills for this -she supposedly was in the court house for hours however the other party's lawyer didn't find her -I was advised not attend (so I can't confirm if the billing was correct). She talks very slow (something that takes 10 minutes turns to a 30 or 60 minute phone call **she charged $500 and hour ) and her emails sometimes are "useless" at first I thought she was sweet in following up with me so much but when reviewing the invoice and email is basically a min of $75 and up to $500. Her ways of handling situations are not the best solutions - she prolonged something and multiple times (one of them could have resolved the matter back in September 2022 but she prolonged it to the end of December 2022 (4 months of paying $500 an hour). Anyway she also had my divorce decree mailed to her (so Obvi her mailing out me was another fee and me taking her call was another fee- please note that could have been mailed to me directly) Also I had to a lot of leg work and pick up documents and etc at her whim (which is not good practice - I mean I was at a dental appointment and she stated I need to complete a document asap- which was not the case). I trusted Ms Goldenberg but after reviewing my invoices and realizing her tactic and observing that a simple email "let me know how it goes" cost approx $125 - I don't recommend. - I was referred to her by a friend who had a 7/8 year divorce and after my personnel experience I can see that she is not out to get resolutions but rather prolonging it and charging you fees. This is was my experience - o wait there's more she instills fear (she recently told me I had court -which didn't make sense because the case was dropped) but again emailed me $$$ and when I called to inquire $$ and it was false information (another tactic to get more money out of me)!

I started with a different lawyer who was rushed, inattentive, and whose overall planning wasn't beneficial to my case. When she retired, I was assigned to Alyssa, who had little experience with custody cases. Despite this, Alyssa was professional, approachable, and genuinely tried to support me, explaining legal issues clearly and making a stressful process more understandable. Brittany was a good assistant and helpful whenever she could. Unfortunately, a very crucial court date was missed by Alyssa, which I believe was the turning point in our case. After that, the judge sent our case to Fauquier County, and that's when things started to go downhill. To make matters worse, during my last case in Loudoun County, they sent a random attorney to support me who didn't know anything about my case, making both me and Livesay & Myers look unprepared in front of the judge. After spending $18,000, I literally got nothing from the ordeal--the only modification that came out of all this was a calling schedule with my kids.
