We spent about 3 or so hours playing & exploring. It's really meant for younger ages,probably up until about 10-11. My son is going to be 11 next week & loved it because he loves dinosaurs, digging & science. Not sure i would go out of my way to go back, only because we don't live locally but if we lived in fresno I would consider getting a membership. They have a lot of great programs throughout the week which would be great for school field trips or homeschooling co-ops.

You can get your tickets online, I happen to check at the right time because their prices and affordable on every first Saturdays of the month! The lady working was super friendly and helpful, she even told me they do music classes and that the kids are more than welcome to join. Around 11am they have a person doing a science presentation but unfortunately she was running late on her project and I overheard her being kind of rude and not in a good mood so we decided to move on to the next room. They were also selling boba and eggrolls outside, sorry I forget the name of the seller that had their booth there. The kids enjoyed the front area where they can dress up, draw and play with toys. There was also someone selling their 3D printed animals, which the kids loved so I caved and bought them all one plus help support small businesses. I've lived in Fresno my whole life and somehow didn't visit Forestiere Underground Gardens until…read morelast year. that is a mistake I genuinely regret. one man hand carved an underground world beneath the San Joaquin Valley over decades and you can walk through it. the fact that this exists here and most Fresno locals have never been is wild to me. the tunnels, the rooms, the skylights that let in just enough light to grow citrus trees underground. it sounds impossible until you're standing in it. the tour guides are great. ours knew the history inside and out and made the whole thing feel like a story rather than a lecture. you leave actually knowing who Baldasare Forestiere was and why he did what he did and it sticks with you. its not a long visit but its a full one. I was genuinely moved in a way I didn't expect from a Saturday afternoon activity in Fresno. bring people who are visiting from out of town. bring people who've lived here forever. this is the kind of place that makes you see your own city differently and that doesn't happen often. if you haven't been, go soon. and if you have been, you already understand why I felt the need to write this.

We had a staff helping us and answering my many questions which I appreciated. Everything was very pricey. I got 3 items-2 live plants and 1 water conditioner type thing and total was $65. I guess i understand having to keep up with being a small business and people shopping at chain stores. My biggest gripe is one of the plants I was sold seemed like it had been sitting out steaming in the tiny 2oz plastic cup and when I got it home and attempted to prep it to going the tank it just looked in really rough shape. Maybe that's what I should have expected, but I ended up not using any of it, and tossing it. Which was a waste of $20. I haven't put the other plant in the aquarium yet. It's sitting in a separate water tank with a root first. I wanted to love this place, but I just feel let down and disappointed.

The service has gone down hill. The fish department is just... yikes. I've been in several times this month as I'm setting up and cycling a new tank. I purchased the tank here and wish I hadn't trusted them so much. I got the tank to start a neocaradina colony. This tank is not suitable for neos and was missing parts such as intake guard and beta flow nozzle. It's loud as hell indicating something isn't right. They said 30 day return policy but failed to mention the tank had to be unused in its original packaging. Sooooo my shrimp tank is missing key parts and is loud as hell but these tanks are typically quiet. Annnnnnd it's not suitable for shrimp. Also no one asked if I needed help I had to hunt someone down which seemingly annoyed them. The cashiers have always been friendly and helpful. Fish department is just... not what it used to be. When I asked where the neos were the guy just pointed down the row of fish and said, they're down there. Okay... lots of possibilities but okay. Good luck getting help with the aquatic plants. I was also severely disappointed to see Whitie's beta care. They have overly small tanks with betas which just keeps reinforcing improper beta care. On top of that the bettas that aren't in a tiny display tank are in even smaller cups than Petsmart! They can't even swim in a circle they are literally in small drinking cups. Most of them show signs of distress like fin clamping and their water was gross. This isn't okay. It's not terribly difficult to start a beta rack. They have such good care for their other animals. This was disappointing to see especially because they have other aggressive fish in proper sized tanks. Overall disappointing to see this and totally irritated to buy a 200.00 tank to learn it has missing parts and a return policy that was not at all clear. I hope they get their poops in a pile because this experience left a bad taste in my mouth in what has otherwise been a classic store my whole life!
