I came here two times and both times all the staff had conflicting information. Nobody is on the same page. The first time we came in we were informed to return Saturday at 11 AM pronto to adopt a kitten, after kitten yoga of course. Fst forward to the next day and we arrive on time 11 AM ready to adopt - now the time changed to 12 PM and nobody knows if any kittens are well, or sick, or neutered and they don't let you hold BUT it's first come first serve... How confusing. So we decide to ask if we can see one of their dogs to pass the time and give a dog a little loving too. We are met with more systematic problems (which make no sense) "that dog is too excited to be around kids" mind you, we have Belgian Malanois at home. Great place to visit cats and dogs.. but Kennedy a full time employee has a very nasty attitude. Our dog got out, we put up flyers called all necessary places.. and today I seen our dog Mao in FB and that he was adopted. My son called and she was vile.. she said he yelled. Yes he raised his voice because that is his pet.. and that was her reasoning for her nastiness. She should be reprimanded.. especially working with animals.. she should look for employment elsewhere. read more

A friend of mine mentioned this adoption center so I started following them on Instagram and immediately got obsessed with seeing their posts of their new animals and events and it was exciting to venture into getting a new pet for our little who was begging for months about having a dog. I inquired about a few and I loved that they would put as much detail on the animal as they new and that they cost was affordable and the questionnaire was built to make sure their pets go to good families. I saw a pic of this dog and my friend did too and we just knew we had to go see him. I called my husband and he had our little, we showed up early to make sure we could see him first just in case, and thank goodness because there was already a line for them to open. Luckily the person in front of us was there for cats but then the people behind us were all there to see this little cutie. We spent lots of time with him and a vet tech, we asked a lot of questions and they gave us all the time we needed, stated we had first dibs but they would show the dog to others who were interested until we made our decision and we decided to give it a go and he as been AMAZING! Such a sweet dog, great with our kiddo, so kind and loving and a great addition to our family. read more

This is a real stellar, friendly, no kill adoption center. We have volunteered with foster care for just over a year now and we are constantly impressed with the level of dedication, attention and care they provide. Initially we were skeptical since moving to CA since the adoption laws here are so much more lax compared to the New England. Over there you would have to get a license just to foster and even perform home inspections on prospective adopters, none of that here in CA. We were placed at ease after meeting the staff here. So far we have fostered, socialized and house trained about 6 dogs, all adopted except one. The staff know the dogs by name and can recall their issues by memory. There are all fed with only Science diet and are well cared for. In addition they have an annual great fundraiser. We will be supporting them for years to come read more

This place is adorable! It is really huge and very clean. They have large exercise areas for the animals, and a cat "room" that looks pretty decked out with cat furniture. I even could walk in and pet the cats, although most were sleeping so I didn't bother them, but it was so nice to be able to interact with them anyhow. I was really looking to adopt a bunny, but they only have dogs and cats. Still, the girl at the front desk searched Petfinder for me to see if there were any rabbits around. They also have a cute Carnival style popcorn machine, as well as a gift shop, and clean bathrooms. I was so impressed with this place. Would be back. read more

I went into Miss Winkles for the first time this Sunday in hopes of finding my lost pup and the receptionist was so fucking rude. She told me that I would have to check the Animal Receiving & Care Center to see if he had been placed there beforehand. After she asked about the breed of my pup she had the audacity to say I would never see him again because of its popularity. That's super inconsiderate and unfortunate to have someone like her representing Miss Winkles. I'd have to say it is one of the nicer animal shelters here in the Central Valley but the service is just so shitty. I believe this is an issue they've had for years now according to other yelp reviews made about this facility. read more

I went to Miss Winkler to get a Clovis dog license. It's closer than city hall and much more pleasant than dealing with civil servants. Found out that they offer microchip services also. Cost $20, which they use to pay for the first year of registration with Home Again pet recovery services. I'm a strong advocate for rescue adoption services. This place is seriously such an amazingly kept and gorgeous facility. The staff are so kind and helpful. They know a lot about their animals that are available and are there to help you to find the right fit. They update their website every day so make sure to check in if you are looking for a pet. I love that they just want to find homes for their animals and you can leave that day with them. Many other places are so complicated in their adoptions it's frustrating! Not to mention their adoption fee of $25 is 1/4 of the cost of others!! I highly recommend visiting and adopting from this shelter! They also accept donations so if you can't adopt, then you can support them in another way. read more

This is the newest NO KILL adoption shelter in my area. It's so lovely, modern and clean that you should just visit it even if you don't intend on adopting one of the many lovely cats or dogs housed there. On your way out feel free to make a donation! It's run solely on donations and they are always in need of blankets, food, and well, they have a list you can grab at the counter. Adoption fees are only $25 for a cat or dog. Yep, that's right. It's not run for money, it's solely to save the lives of perfectly good animals that no one wants anymore. I've adopted from here already and you should too! Probably one of the worst pet adoption experiences I've ever had. All of the staff is incredibly stuck up, opinionated, rude and over bearing. Not only did they make me jump through so many hoops in the process of trying to adopt a puppy, they were very vague the entire time. Each time I went to pick up the puppy it was a different excuse and a different requirement. I took my 11 year old Australian Shepard to get specific vaccines just so I would be able to adopt at Miss Winkles. I met all of their requirements just for them to tell me that they wouldn't allow me to adopt their puppy because my dog growled once (his tail was wagging the entire time), of course when you lock two dogs in a room together there is bound to be little bit of tension for just a minute. My dog quickly calmed down and had no issues with the puppy but the staff insisted it was not a good fit and that my dog would not handle living with the puppy very well. I feel that the entire process was left to the staffs own opinion. Extremely frustrating and unprofessional. As anyone would in this situation I had already gotten attached to the puppy only for the staff to force their unwanted opinion and decline the adoption for what I feel to be a completely ridiculous point of view. Needless to say, I will not be back to Miss Winkles. Save yourself the frustration and find another local pet shelter. read more

My only experience with this adoption center is as a civilian just walking by. I was with my dog walking in the field nearby. We got close to the fence when a worker told me to put my dog on a leash because the 2 dogs that were running around (inside the fenced area) can jump over the fence and attack dogs. I have personally never seen a sign saying that the field is a leash only park (I will go looking for the sign soon--if there is one) but I do see people letting there dogs loose all the time. The thing that frightened me is that they have dogs there that can jump over the fence and attack dogs and probably people too??? And what is a leash going to do if a 70lbs dog jumps over the fence to attack me or my dog? That does not sound safe. Children come to this field! I would question the ethics of this place. I am an avid dog lover but human safety comes first over dogs, period! read more

Went in today for the first time and was blown away at how beautiful and clean this shelter is! Most shelters reek of pee and poop but not this one! Staff was super friendly and went above and beyond to help us with any questions. The adoption process was quick and they even let us pick a name tag and engraved it. They also have a little gift shop with almost anything you'd need for bringing your pet home (collars, leashes, toys, dishes etc) . I would HIGHLY recommend this shelter to anyone wanting to adopt a pet! read more

I said this back in 2017 and I will say this again. THIS PLACE IS TERRIBLE. That little redhead girl is so rude. 2nd time I been here within two years. That I had the deal w the same rude redhead girl. I wanted to adopt a dog this time. There was 2 girls at the front desk. The red head one and another one. And when I got to the dogs. There was no one to help us. So I called the front desk and they said someone will be there shortly. So the redhead girl shows up and was like "how can I help you" I was like I want to adopt this dog and she said "well you have to play with it first" I'm like oh ok(I never adopted a dog before so I didn't know) so she runs in there like almost runs up on the dog. Scaring him. So we are playing and talking about him. And I'm letting her know I have a cat and stuff like that so we did a cat test so see how the dog does (the dog didn't do good) so she's like well that's a no sorry guys and put the dog away. I wanted to ask and see if there was other dogs who were good with cats but she was like blowing me off. It's honestly sad cause these dogs and cats need to be adopted. And rude customer service effects their adoption. Now I definitely will never go back. read more

I had my first visit a couple of days ago with my sister and was in awe of how beautiful and kept the facility is. But terrible customer service!! Right when we walked in, it felt weird. After roaming around and finally seeing a dog we were interested in, we asked the front desk if we could play with the puppy to get to know her and she said "we only let you play if you're serious about adopting" We said yes (obviously we're interested) and immediately got a feeling that we were unwanted and were not being taken seriously by her tone. They told us to wait and so we did, over twenty minutes passed and nobody came to assist us. We then peaked our head back to the front desk, and THREE ladies were at the front just talking. We went in the morning during a weekday, place was pretty empty! So obviously we weren't being taken seriously and it's a shame that this facility doesn't focus on their animals being adopted. I've heard other stories from friends of their lack of customer service. On a brighter side, they have a great range of dogs and cats for those looking to adopt from them. read more

I am extremely upset about the way the receptionist treated my children and I. We found two dogs we were considering applying for and the rest of the staff were great but when we went to apply for the adoption, this lady who looked in her 20's reddish hair sitting in front of a computer actually rolled her eyes when my 6-year-old asked her a question. Unbelievable any company would allow this kind of behavior from staff!! I even tried to reframe the question for her and she cut me off and started talking over me in a aggressive very rude tone! I then took my kids and left at that point! I think it's so sad a dog in a cage could have had a forever family today but because of this aggressive and disrespectful receptionist .. Nothing is worth subjecting children to this kind of behavior.. my 6-year-old is very upset, as am I!! This was a big deal to my family/children.. this is a nice facility.. and the other two staff were great.. but this lady!! She has a horrible attitude and should be fired for treating a child like that! read more

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! The little redhead girl in the front desk was so rude. As a person who never been there before. I didn't know where to go or what to do. She didn't even offer to help me. Just sat there a chatted away. I wanted to adopt a cat. The one I wanted I couldn't even adopt and take home that day because she had a little infection. She would be available in 14 days. Idk why. I could of gave her the antibiotics at home. As I was asking to put her on hold. The little redhead front desk girl just walked away as I was talking to her. I ended up adopting a cat at PetSmart. Way nicer staff. And they let me take the cat home that day. I WILL DEFINITELY NOT GO BACK TO MISS WINKLES. super disappointing because there's so many fur babies there that needs a home. read more

Had the worst experience here. I've owned many dogs in the past and almost all of them I've saved from a rescue. It really is sad that when you want to adopt a dog from a rescue and they end up telling you that you can't adopt this dog unless "you have a kennel to put it in when your gone away". I own 2 acres of land that is also fenced where the dog could roam around as well as someone who is always home to care for the dog. But because I didn't have a kennel to put it in when I was away they wouldn't let me adopt the dog. It's a sad day when you love dogs so much and go to a shelter and they basically told me that I couldn't adopt this dog. Wouldn't advise going here unless you abide by all of their nit picky rules or else they will make sure you'll leave without a dog. read more
