We love coming here! This is my go to spot to entertain my son! They have a fish tank with lots of fish, a puffer fish, and even an eel. The selection of books, cd's, dvds, and games is great! They even have thick board books in different languages for the babies. Then after you've selected some books for the week you take a short walk over the bridge and they have a turtle pond, two playgrounds for different age groups, and even a duck pond. It seems like you can rent a covered picnic table area to host an event. It really is a neat spot. The library staff is also kind and helpful! There aren't individual cubicles for studying but they do have desk space each equipped with a power outlet and it is super quiet. They have rooms that can be reserved for a few hours. The staff is super friendly and helpful. Plus it is open everyday. I come here when Westlake village library is closed. Plus they have early authorized access allowing you reserve conference rooms, return books, pick up holds, and work in the lobby before the library opens at 10AM on weekdays. read more

We are so fortunate to have this library in our community. The staff go out of their way to be helpful. The book selections are massive and up to date. I am always able to get on a waitlist for the newest read. I am at the library once a week checking out and returning items. The children's library is always buzzing with youngsters exploring books and gazing at the diverse fish in the oversized fish tank. It's a huge hit. The library has branched out into other community services and offers classes from computer help to 3D printing for young and old. What a valuable resource we have in our town. If you are looking for a quiet place to study this isn't it. It's a really nice library but unfortunately the noise is pretty excessive. Majority of the people are tutors and students no one using their quiet voice. No one using private rooms that are meant for this purpose. I was pretty surprised the first time I came in there and when I asked the library people if they can say anything to the people across from me regarding them talking I was told that they are just studying. Anyhow pretty disappointing. Thought a library was a place you could get some peace and quiet I guess that's the old days and that no longer applies. So pretty much it's the noise level of a coffee shop without the music and coffee. What is wrong with this picture and why do the people working there do not enforce the quiet thing? Am I in some kind of alt reality because a library no longer being a place you can study is pretty lame. read more

Yelp 100 Challenge 61 Amazing library! Kids section is huge, lots of places to read or study. There's a gift shop and a gorgeous fish tank complete with chairs close by so you can simply relax and let your mind wander. I was lucky, this weekend the Conejo Orchid Society held their annual Orchid Show and Sale at the library. There were many beautiful orchids and plants for sale for the beginner as well as for the experienced grower. There were demonstrations on repotting and separating the orchids, answering any and all questions. In addition, the library offers other adult and children's programs. The folks working there are helpful, parking is free and you can't beat a comfortable, air conditioned place to relaxed and escape for just a short while. read more

I wish I had a library like this when I was kid! Their kids section is huge and has a bunch of stuffed animals/puppets. Since I am an adult who has to drive a lot, I mostly come here for their books on tape. They have a really big selection and you can check out a lot of books at one time. The self check out machines are awesome, you just put your books on the magic counter, scan your card, and the computer automatically knows which books you are checking out. Entire process takes less than 30 seconds. The library itself has a lot of natural light and even an aquarium! read more

Love this library! It is conveniently located off the 23 freeway and Janss Road. A few other community buildings share the parking lot and there is a nice (huge) park behind the library. Check out Conejo Creek North Park if interested in the park behind the library. Inside the library we have only used the huge children's wing. So much going on, tons of books, lots of tables and seating, a big wall of fish, puppets, featured books, helpful librarians, community programs... Check it out if you have kids or head over to the adult wing as I am sure there is a tons going on over there too! read more

This is such a fantastic library - I loved playing in the kids section when I was little, and they have some of the best research resources available locally - saved my life in high school. The saltwater aquarium is very relaxing too. The librarians are always so nice, and they have plenty of self checkout kiosks so the lineup to get books isn't that bad. The book return drive by is super convenient too, since I'm lazy and can't be bothered to leave my car when I want to return books. It was always fun to head over on a nice day, check out a book and sit in the park behind the library. So glad that the Thousand Oaks library exists for the community. read more

Whoot, 50th review! Considering how much I come to this awesome place, it is high time that I reviewed it. Not to be stereotypical, but most women like to chill at the mall or spa in their down time. As for myself, I prefer the library, and I am so grateful that we have an incredible one in Thousand Oaks! Besides the great selection of books, the TO library offers various programs from story telling for the kiddies to musical performances to even free movie screenings. There is PLENTY of seating throughout the library even though I wish the study rooms could be larger to accommodate more people. The gift store has cute merchandise, and I wish it had longer hours. I also love how they recently added the $1 coffee machine. Overall, this is one of the best libraries I've been to, and if you are a local and haven't checked it out yet, I highly urge you to do so! read more

This library is one of the best in Ventura County! The fish tank separates the children's wing from the adult side and each have an equally large collection. 3D printer available, scanner, fax, high speed 1GB internet, coffee machine & vending machines, a pay phone, quiet study rooms, and a large community meeting rooms for awesome events like the Orchid Show! Staff here are absolutely awesome! It's usually pretty quiet and a great study atmosphere. But if some other people are noisy and you're afraid to shush them, just talk to any of the staff and they'll do it for you. With the library being a place of education, perhaps the children do need to be properly taught that they should view the aquarium using their eyes and not their fists. However, this could be more of a parenting issue rather than a library responsibility. I'll definitely come back to this library when I have a chance. The bathrooms are very clean and the library has plenty of free parking in their lot! Check out the park behind the library as well. Exit the adult side, follow the sidewalk to the left, and cross the bridge. Also, this library is always on point when it comes to opening and closing times. There's usually a crowd waiting to get into the library in the morning and then there's always those stragglers that never want to leave. But I love that the library keeps to their posted business hours! If it were up to popular demand (and no city budget) this library would be open 24/7 without a doubt. read more

The TO Library is amazing! The catalog is expansive. It is rare that they don't have what I'm looking for. Plus, they accept requests! I've placed several purchase requests (for some fairly obscure titles) and they've acquired all of them, despite the high probability that I'm the only person who will ever check them out. For being supposedly irrelevant in the digital age, this library has transitioned into the 21st century beautifully. They've added self-checkout stations so you never have to stand in line. The website is easy to use and offers almost every service you could need: place a hold on a book, request a purchase, renew items and pay late fees. They even have downloadable audiobooks for those of us who are more podcast than paperback. If they delivered, they'd put Amazon out of business. Also, they send you e-mail reminders *before* your books are due. This seems like it must cut down on their revenue, so I consider it a true public service. I recently lost a library book (you have no idea how bad I feel about this) and they were very kind. They thanked me for telling them right away, and charged me the list price of the book plus a $5 processing fee. Fair enough. But here's the cool thing: If the book turns up any time in the next year, they'll refund all but the $5 fee. A few years ago they added a separate children's wing, which is lovely and has lots of neat things for bookish kids: Giant stuffed animals to sit on, benches that look like open books, and a Help Desk at child-height. Plus, there's a great big aquarium in in the walkway that connects the Children's wing to the main section. I get a little envious every time I walk through there... I wish my library had this stuff when I was a kid! So, at the risk of exposing my nerdiness, (oh, who am I kidding. We all already knew) I'll conclude by saying that I LOVE my library. As I spend most of my free time here, I've gotten to get really comfortable at this library. It's like my second home! They have comfortable chairs, big tables, small tables, individual study desks - whatever fits your needs. When I come here, I try to get a seat close to an outlet for my laptop, which is sometimes hard to do. The outlets are scattered about on the floor, so it's sometimes difficult to find a seat close to one without sharing your table with a complete stranger. The fish tank (salt water) separates the adult section from the kids section, and there are windows all along the back wall so that you can daydream in between chapters and look outside. They even have a coffee cart here, $1 per cup I believe. I tried it once, but usually bring my own refreshments. Nice library, clean, free wifi, and usually not too crowded. read more

This library is great for children as they have a whole wing dedicated to children's books. There is also a large aquarium filled with tropical fish you find while snorkeling or scuba diving in a place like the Philippines. I would recommend stopping by if you're in the area to spend an afternoon reading books and staring at the beautiful tropical fish. Not so much a review as a public service announcement: If you head up from West LA at 4pm to watch your friend perform in "Hairspray" at the Countrywide Performing Arts Center at 8 (all in the name of beating traffic) and have work to do, you might want to check out the Thousand Oaks Library and use their free wireless. You might also go there because you want to check out a book (apparently some people still do this). You might also want to go because they have a rather large fish tank in the children's section. read more

They've improved this library over the last four years, expanding the quiet rooms (there's two now). It's moderately quiet, and a big plus are the huge paneled windows were you get to pretend your outdoors as you're studying/reading. the downsides are that: - the hours are more limited, don't open until 11am Mon - Thurs, whereas camarillo lib opens 10-9 on the weekdays. - The libary is pretty dark, and it's lit mostly by flourescent lights. Aside from a few choice areas by the paneled windows that is. - Outlets are scattered randomly... most of the nicer big tables don't have them, so you'lll need to scout out different areas to find a good spot with an outlet. ALSO in one of the larger nicer areas by the window/a lot of outlets they randomly have the genealogical society meet and gather (random i now) generally older folks that talk REALLY LOUD. there seems to be no rhyme or reason when they come and it's super obnoxious to suddently uproot because a group of seniors are literally talking in normal than loud voices. read more

The Thousand Oaks Library is one of my favorite places in TO. They have a fantastic selection of books, and all of the librarians are extremely kind and helpful. I've asked them for suggestions based on things I have recently read or am interested in and have never been disappointed. It is also a good, quiet place to study. They have a great kid section, with fun places to sit and read, and the aquarium is a nice, fun touch. The library also puts on great events for kids, teens, and even adults. They are also very organized, as you can tell with their summer reading programs. The self checkout kiosks and =book return drive are also very convenient. If you get a chance, I also suggest driving back to the park that is behind the library - it is beautiful on a good day (which we tend to have around here). read more

There was plenty of parking, and the place looked clean and well-kept, for the most part. I was miffed about one thing -- the wifi. It really SUCKED! I went here to do some legal research, and I couldn't even stay connected to the internet. I was pretty much screwed. I gave up on trying to reconnect and left. Too bad because I really wanted to stay. :/ I'd probably come back here (if I'm ever in the area again) though not to do research. read more

Now this is a library! I came here to meet someone and got lost as there are multiple libraries connected to each other! As described by my friend, this place is like the Epcot center of libraries. The one time I came here, I was able to meet with and have a discussion in a study room. It was used by other people tutoring or assisting others. Great environment.
