We absolutely love this library. Julia from the children's section is so helpful and wonderful. She is such a gem. She has so much patience and knowledge for the kids. My eldest child is an avid reader and she knows what books keep him engaged. This is a great library, the only thing that I would change is to make them open on Mondays too. It is in such a prime location and I love the Calabasas library app. My husband, myself, and children have linked accounts so it is easy to keep track of everything we check out. read more

This library is like a local retreat for me. I've come here on many occasions and it has been consistently clean, orderly, and well-stocked. By far one of the best libraries in the area. Note that this library isn't part of LAPL so if you'll need to sign up for another library card here if you'd like to borrow books. One of my favorite things about this library is the monthly craft club. The two librarians who put it on are hilarious and a good time. These crafts are geared towards adults so I wouldn't bring your kids here (double check to see if they have a kids craft club at a different time). Because this library is in a well to do area, I assume they receive generous funding which in turn translates to generous crafts. read more

This is a gorgeous library with tons of resources and lots of spots to work. It does tend to fill up fast. I agree that this library in particular can get very loud. I have heard people take phone calls in the library, open cans, rustle through snacks, and the librarians have not asked them to take those activities outside. There are tons of tables outside too, and plenty of space to take your call or have a meal outside and then come in to work. The inconsistency there is the only thing that makes me give them 4 stars. read more

Walking around the Commons and though visiting the library with my son would be a good idea. I was wrong. The library did not feel welcoming, and even though it was a hot the demeanor of the staff was cold. The library is small but the kids sections reminded me of an elementary school library. Limited selection. I would not recommend for young readers. read more

The library staff are loud and it is disruptive if you are trying to get any work done. It has been this way every time I'm in there. It's a library please hire staff that understand that a library should be quiet. Some of the tables have been dirty so cleaning needs to happen on a more regular basis. Compared to Glendale, and brand library their hours are not as late I believe they close at 6 as opposed to the other libraries that offer better hours. Parking is easy. The library itself is nice, but not modern. I also didn't like that they were asking for vaccination records. This is the only library that was doing this. Not worth going out of your way for, but if there are no other options it should work if you can tolerate the loudness of the staff. read more

At first, I didn't believe the reviews about the staff being loud. Unfortunately, the times I decide to really focus and take off my headphones, I can hear people talking. I was shocked to see that it was the library staff talking at a normal volume, but a normal volume in a building that echoes is still loud. I was too embarrassed to ask them to quiet down because they're literally the LIBRARY staff. I'm a sophomore in college, and I respect the space, doing my part to clean up before I leave and put away whatever I was using, so I would expect the staff to give the same respect. It's frankly embarrassing that so many people complain about their loudness. This is the only nice library in this area that has great study resources, but I would really appreciate the silence. I saw someone else saying that they should find staff who know how to act in a library. The three stars are for the cleanliness and good selection of books. I can usually always find a place to sit, even when you would expect it to be busy during exam season. read more

What a nice library! I can't imagine what the library fines must be like to pay for a library this nice, but this is a super nice library! They've got a room full of computers, all connected to the internet. Private stud rooms flank the perimeter of the library, with white boards, and are walled in so it's quiet! There's a giant children's literature section for the kiddos, with lots of places to sit and read. I stopped by on a Wednesday night, and was surprised to see that the place remains open until 9p! It was quiet when I visited. There were lots of periodicals to enjoy. The selection of books is quite nice! There was free wifi too! :) Overall, I had a very positive impression of this library! read more

This place has a weird vibe and it's smaller than what you think . Overall I wouldn't recommend You drive out of your way to visit this place if you want to get work done . As cute as it is around the library and some parts inside . I couldn't get any work done . There weren't a lot of private small quiet spaces and people aren't friendly and welcoming so you feel weird sitting in the general area of someone who was lucky enough go find a quiet intimate space of their own . Also you can't eat or drink in this library which is how it loses another star . Parking is super easy around the library which is a plus . The speed bumps are annoying as they are the skinny ones in which you have to go really really slow not to mess up your car .overall meh . I wouldn't necessarily visit this place again given the limitations I outlined above . read more

You didn't hurt my feelings, you pissed me off. Thanks for the non-apology, Barbara. How convenient of you to list all these reasonable alternatives to me -none of which you mentioned in the moment. The way you chose to speak to me was unacceptable and very temperamental for no reason. I will not be returning to this library and rest assured, neither will any of my friends. Funny how before I even explained what happened to them, everyone who goes to this library knows how loud the librarians so how hypocritical it is to act like my uncontrollable sneezing is an egregious disturbance. This is corroborated by the other reviews so I'll leave it at that. You yourself were in and out of the room, I was 2 tables away from the one and only person, and the children's section again is completely separate from the rest of the library where the majority of people were. I don't want anything from you, I just had to speak up and call you out in hopes that you learn from your actions, especially as a children's librarian and manager -idk if you woke up on the wrong side of the bed or what, no one deserves to be spoken to or treated that way for no reason. This public library is where dreams are made of. There is ample space, study rooms, many outlets and a computer lab. The staff is very friendly and so educated if you have any questions regarding the library itself or book recommendations. Everything is kept clean and I enjoy doing my work here compared to other public libraries. The only thing that semi-irked me was the fact that I have to be a Calabasas resident to rent out a study room. Since I don't live in the city, I have to pay $15/hour for a room which is a bit absurd. read more

Looking for a quiet place to study for finals, standardized tests, homework, etc? Calabasas library is the perfect location to get solid work done. I come here every time I am back home and need some study time. The hours are short but most libraries close early. If your prepared to get there early, you will have a perfect study session. This library is new, clean, and quiet. It holds all the components required to get a great session one. The library also has group rooms that can be rented in advance. They each have a huge whiteboard & your are given markers as well. I have been to multiple library's and in comparison, Calabasas has the best (excluding college libraries). This is by far the best library I have ever studied in, in The Valley! It is equipped with an abundance of children's books (even has their own section of the library plus a reading nook!), great space for studying, a lot of computers, and a very friendly staff that are always willing to help. I come here very often and tend to see familiar faces (I don't know them, I just happen to see the same people studying around me), which goes to show that people keep coming back to this location. It is a quiet library and very spacious. My only complaint is that the study rooms are only available to residents of Calabasas, and if you are not then there's an expensive fee to rent one of the rooms. I am not sure if there is an exception, but that's what I've been told. Other than that, the space is great and it is surrounded by beautiful floral arrangements and great buildings. read more

This is the best library I've been to. The wifi works smooth and proper. The staff is helpful and friendly. The line for checking out books moves quick. The type of people that go there are of solid character mainly. There is outdoor seating which you can still get wifi at. The seats are sturdy and I have earned many As doing homework there. This library is very nice aesthetically and extremely clean. I like it as a quiet study area and the free WiFi, outlets to plug in your wireless device and lighting at each table. There is plenty of parking and you can park for free in 2 hour increments. Would definitely recommend if you need a break from the coffee shop or campus library. read more

I hadn't been to this location until last week. What a pleasant surprise! Beautiful library with ample tables and chairs and very stable internet. The quality of the building and the architecture is more than a cut above average! New and fresh with lots of people studying. There are study rooms and meeting rooms. Not sure how to get access or if you have to reserve or anything but they were in use and not always busy. It is truly the best public library I've been in here in the San Fernando Valley (actually, the Calabasas library isn't in SFV... I think it's Conejo Valley but it's super close). Wonderful Peking, walkable to The Commons, my favorite Caruso location. read more

This library is one of the best, IF not the best libraries I've ever been to, it's always peaceful and quiet along with great places to eat nearby. There are many tables right outside the library where it is peaceful and quiet to work and study. The wifi works great and rarely does it not work. I noticed one review had given one star because the library's wifi wasn't working that day. He said "it renders the library useless" I COMPLETELY DISAGREE This is a library NOT your local Starbucks. It's for reading and studying not gaming and email checking. It's nice, large, beautifully built and has friendly staff. That's a 5 star in my book. read more

A beautiful quiet library! I love this library, they have a good selection of books, the furnishings feel clean and relatively new, the bathrooms are immaculate, and the staff is pleasant and helpful. They also have a lovely outdoor area with seating and tables. I often see ppl eating their lunches or working on their laptops outside the library, I know I have many times. The only real downside is that it is completely stand alone and not affiliated with any of the other local libraries. Which means you ALWAYS have to return the books from this library to this library. If you're not regularly in the area I would probably go somewhere else. Lucky for me I work nearby! read more

I love this library but why will the librarians not ask the chatterboxes to be quiet? It can be ridiculous on some days. I come here to write with absolute no distractions. I prefer the outdoor area but once school kids get out at 2 or 3 there is no peace outside, which is understandable. Will the real manger of this library please stand up and ask the noisemakers to be quiet or go into a study room? Gees people go home or outside if you want to run your mouths. Parents/tutors please take your child outside or into a room to tutor or read to them. There is a also a children's room. It is not fair to us that came here with a purpose of reading, writing or studying. I really do not care about the wifi, I can use internet at home. In fact I like the wifi is spotty because going online is a distraction in my writing process. I do care though that the Calabasas taxpayers money is being wasted. Today they were installing gold (plated I assume) leaves on the amphitheater stairs and around outdoor area. How often is the amphitheater utilized? Plus it looked kind of tacky. We do not need gold leaves displayed around our library. Take that money and do something positive with it. Give it back to our youth,schools or people that need help. In closing I will say this is a very nice, safe and clean library. If it wasn't for the noise it would be utopia like. read more

I went here to study yesterday. It was a bit of a drive in the rain but well worth the day. Very clean and spacious place. Not to mention quiet...meaning quiet patrons that are not doing something ridiculously obnoxious. I got up just once for a bathroom break and no one bothered me at all for the entire six hours or so. You just need to be a California resident to get a card. And there are individual study rooms (3) on a first come first served basis. Bathrooms also very clean and new. read more

The wifi sucks. Essentially doesn't work at all. I asked a woman and she told me to move around and try different areas in the library. Tried for an hour and no luck. Bad cell reception too so tethering doesn't work. At least for AT&T. They need to fix this. It's 2014 people, the city can afford something faster than dial up. The bad wifi is a shame because that big, beautiful building is rendered basically useless as a result. Can't work with no connection. Fix it please! read more

Wow, what a gorgeous library. Located right behind The Commons at Calabasas shopping center, this new library is also next to the City Hall and Amphitheatre. I grew up in Calabasas and came on weekly visits to the Calabasas Library with my mom for years. It moved a few times since I was a kid and underwent some changes, but it's really found its place now, and is by far the best public library I've ever visited. As a college student, I'm always struck with how much it reminds me of my university's libraries, which is impressive in such a small venue. There are lots of nice quiet study spaces to get work done or comfy chairs to start reading a book before you take it home. Like the city itself, the library is on the smaller side, which means that if you're looking for a specific book, you might be disappointed the first time around. However, the atmosphere here more than makes up for it, and just browsing for your next read can be a really enjoyable experience. The furniture and architecture are both beautiful and really, I just love being in here. They've got a great and pretty large kids' section as well, with a lot of the books that I grew up reading. I wouldn't recommend it as the only place to go if you're doing some serious research, but to do some studying or pick up a book for some casual reading, it's perfect. The librarians here are incredible as well. Every single one of them is unbelievably friendly and really go out of their way to see how you're doing and make sure that you found what you came in for. They get to know you by name if you come in regularly, and even remember me from years ago when I'm back from school. read more
