My expectations were not high but I was pleasantly surprised by my meal of chicken fajitas that came with sour cream, guacamole, salsa and flour tortillas. The fajitas had onion and peppers and was nicely seasoned. The flour tortillas were not great but ok and the rest was very good. For a starter we had the macaroni bites that came with a pepper jam that was delicious. my daughter thought the nachos were great. Her husband had steak with peppercorn sauce that he really liked. All in all a pleasant and unexpected surprise. Though I wouldn't see a need to go again this trip, was glad to have tried it.

Mexican food, drink and decor all add up to make this one great place to eat. They sell the usual fajitas and enchalades too. The whole restaurant is themed , in great bright colours of reds and yellows to make it authentic. They also have mexican music, mainly by the Gypsy Kings. One night when i went here we had sangria and were listening to the music when we realised it was hotel california. When you hear this with a mexican twist it is not only hillarious but somewhat cool at the same time!! the service we recieved was second to none absolutely great. The food was also brilliant could not fault either of them. Then we have the prices , which again are great for the amount of food you get. The whole experience was amazing, i would go back as much as i could if lived closer. Its just soo nice! If you stay in looe or visit , make a trip to this restaurant, it wasnt packed when we went in, but there were people in there, a great little hidden gem!

I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of Mexican food here at the Mexican Cantina. I ordered the shredded pork chimichanga with refried beans. The pork was pretty awesome but the refried beans were none existent in a scientist point of view, "there was a trace" of refried beans. I got guacamole, pico de gallo, and sour cream but no salsa. Where is the salsa? I told the waiter I would have liked hot sauce with my chimichanga, and that I never had Mexican food without salsa before. He offered salsa to go on its own. What am I supposed to do with a salsa to go?!!! The perks? Amazing and awesome chili tequila. Best tequila I've ever had in my life! I had four shots. It is quite spicy and the spiciness crept in minute after minute after the shot was consumed but I didn't care, I wanted more. Will frequent again. Loved the chimichanga and the chili tequila. I will demand salsa in my next adventure to Mexican Cantina. To those that gave this place three stars, I'm from California and lived two hours away from Mexico. I know Mexican food, hands down this place is a solid four stars. Now if I said it was best Mexican food ever I'd be lying but it is for sure a four, this place actually gets Mexican cuisine right!

They also managed really well with the group all the food came out hot and at the same time which made it much nicer we didn't have to wait too long for it either. The food was really tasty and there was a good choice on the menu. There was also a great choice of cocktails and we all enjoyed a couple, the staff even made up a couple especially for the hen which were both very tasty and it was nice to get her something different!!

We expected substandard Mexican fare, but we were wrong. We were on our way to a Chinese restaurant down the street from our B&B, but the Chinese place was empty, and Senor Dicks was packed, and that is why we changed our mind and gave it a try. First the bad, which isn't very bad at all: Most Mexican places in the US start by giving you complimentary chips and salsa. Not so here, but they have a chips, salsa, guacamole, and sour cream appetizer for £3.95. The chips, guacamole, and salsa were so-so; and were delivered with the entree instead of before the entree. Now the good. The house margaritas were excellent. My wife ordered chicken burrito, she said it was remarkable. Kids ordered enchiladas, one with green sauce one with red sauce. Both said they were excellent. I ordered green chili pork enchilada with green sauce. It was as good as anything I get at home. A comment about the enchiladas: there was one per order and it was the size of a burrito. Usually back in the US there are two or more and they are a fraction of the size of a burrito. The staff was friendly. The facility was clean and modern and colorful. Strangely, between the wait staff, buss staff, and bar staff were heard dishes drop to the floor and shatter no less than four times. But it didn't dampen our experience. We highly recommend this place.

When you are an American traveling England and living in England, you eat at whatever Mexican establishment you can find in search of real Mexican food. I had my husband drop me off so I could get a table because they looked pretty busy. I was seated right away because I'm not fussy and accepted a table by the bar. My waitress was very friendly and attentive, she came to check on me often while I was waiting on my husband. In the mean time I ordered two bloody marys. The bartender wanted to make to know if I wanted Tabasco sauce or their specialty spicy habanero sauce. I opted for their habanero sauce, why not? I received my bloody mary but it was not very spicy and lacked flavor, their tomato juice tasted pretty water down. I ordered my bloody marys with two shots of top shelf vodka. I couldn't taste the vodka but the buzz I got, I knew it was in there. I ended up adding more Tabasco sauce to spice my drink up. I am not bothered by their bloody mary because I asked him to make me something that isn't even on their menu. I ordered their chicken chimichanga. It was large. The chicken was nice and bite sized. I also ordered a side of their famously spicy habanero suace and it conquered me. It was too spicy that I couldn't eat it with my chimichanga. That is a first for me. I did try to eat some of it. I enjoyed it, but was sweating afterwards. The chimichange was great. The refried beans were very tasty but there wasn't enough of them, just a tiny bit, maybe a teaspoon full. I'd like to have more beans because they were quite tasty. My husband enjoyed the rice, I am not a fan of rice but he said it was good. Their chicken nachos are really nice. It is a large portion, one could share them. I enjoyed my experience at Senior Dicks and I still can't get over their name.

Yet extraordinarily we were the only people to be in the establishment. Our food came swift and staff were all around quite chirpy and easy to talk to. The menu was interesting with a variety of foods yet we selected off of the rather bland and basic lunch menu (as we were having late lunch) the starters of chicken wings and nachos - not a pair two individual dishes: were rather hopeful, the wings were succulent and not drowned but not quite lathered in sauce 3 very small chicken wings at £2.85 a sweet deal for some... however, in comparison for the same price of £2.85 a very extreme bowl of nachos with what can only be said as a varied delightful set of topping which were licked clean! The disappointment was still to come. The mains were a tragic display of an underwhelmed chef , who simply slopped one enchilada onto a sea of what can be described as putrid, grainy black beans. The cheese on top remained unmelted just sprinkled on from the bag , not freshly grated , no bother to stick it under a broiler to melt the cheese and combine it into a surprisingly tasty enchilada. But we not only eat with our mouths and my eyes were severely devastated by the catastrophic mess that lay before me. Overall I give 3 stars would not visit again.

That will tell you everything about this over-priced, loud, arrogant, over-sized bar that pretends to be a restaurant. After being "allowed" to sit at the sticky, cramped table, we ordered drinks ($21 USD for 2 unremarkable martinis) and pondered the menu. We saw no sign of our server for a long time and after trying to hear each other over the high volume of chatter in the place, we decided to save ourselves the time and money clearly not valued by this establishment and spend it on a restaurant around the corner whose service and atmosphere were welcoming and professional. There are many fantastic, high-quality places to spend an evening for dinner in Royal William Yard, so do not waste your time in this one.
