We were a large party out for dinner to celebrate on a Saturday evening. Mykl (Michael), our server was very attentive and pleasant for our large party. I started with a Gilded Peach (not pictured), tasty and recommend by Mykl. Had a taste of the short rib ravioli that was delicious. I ordered the crab cakes and wedge salad as my meal. Crab cakes were good, but not filling. I was able to take a picture of the salmon my friend ordered, her plate was clean at the end of the meal, she loved the salmon. What a beautiful, well maintained area! I enjoyed a nice hike in the woods this afternoon, and I was so pleasantly surprised by how clean and quiet the park was. There were people jogging, and the main trail was even cleared from the snow. At the entrance, you can find a few outdoor game options year round. Connect four and cornhole to name a few. There's a section where 3 creeks (Alum, Blacklick, and Big Walnut) meet and converge into Alum Creek. There's also a nice lookout, bridge, and a loop trail. I'll be back! read more

It's a midsize park that includes biking and walking trails. And there's a pond. Also it has an overlook area including some spots for birdwatching and other wildlife sightings. The shelter house has bbq and picnic tables. nearby including permanent corn hole - just bring your own bags. read more

The park seemed nice, a lot of trails for walking or riding. We went to Turtle pond and it was very shallow... like maybe only 3 feet in the deepest parts from What we could tell from the side. And maybe 1 foot 4-6feet from the edge. They're have a small dock on one side of the pond, and 2-3 small cleared areas to stand by and fish from. There is a lot of vegetation and stuff to get snagged on. We honestly didn't see anything worth catching. We did catch one tiny 4 inch sunfish right by the edge of the water, which was great to finally catch something for our 2 year old to experience. But there have a nice little playground nothing special about it, but it being there is a plus alone. Also had a few bbq grills that can be used as well as a shelter are perfect for bdays or get togethers. It's also not super close to the water which is great for safety for kids. Plenty of parking. But not great for fishing. We probably won't be back for any reason other than maybe if we did a bday and used the shelter area. read more

Three Creeks is another one of our marvelous metro parks. It is located at the confluence of the Alum, Big Walnut, and Blacklick Creeks, thus the name. You can actually hike out to see the exact confluence area, which is interesting to see. It is made up of multiple areas offering various amenities. One of our favorite areas is the Confluence Area, which offers a lot: this section is home to the playground, featuring slides, swings, climbing structures, and more, in addition to the natural play area, where kids can interact with natural elements like jumping from log to log. Restrooms and a shelterhouse with picnic tables are located here. Turtle Pond offers fishing, and you can also use the trail around the pond for a short easy hike (less than 1/2 mile). The 1/2 mile Evergreen Trail near the natural play area is a nice wooded trail that allows pets. An absolutely gorgeous trail in the spring time is the 1 mile Bluebell Trail, which, as its name suggests, is filled with beautiful bluebell blooms. One caution with this trail is that it is in the flood zone from the creeks so check the signage to see if it is open. You can also access two paved greenway trails here: the 24.5 mile Alum Creek Greenway Trail and the 16 mile Blacklick Creek Greenway Trail, making access to the park by foot or bike very easy to do. There are two parking lots available in the Confluence Area, as well. If you head up the Alum Creek Greenway Trail and cross the bridge over the river, you can also access the 1 mile Confluence Trail, which will let you view the aforementioned confluence of the three creeks. It is pretty and offers some interesting signage. A few other trails and play areas are accessible in some of the other regions of the park, and there is an additional fishing pond with trail, Heron Pond, in the area of its name. The dog park is located over in the Sycamore Fields Area, along with a pet-friendly 1.2 mile trail. The naturalists here are very nice and offer some great programming! Their recent pumpkin walk around Turtle Pond in the fall was a really enjoyable and relaxing event in what can be a busy season! read more

My daughter and I enjoy the trails at Three Creeks Metro Park! We will continue to enjoy the trails as the park is only ten minutes from our home. Along with the trails, there is a playground and a basketball court. The park is pretty big so you can walk, run, or bike the trails or sit down and enjoy a nice picnic by the water. They do have Porta-Johns readily available too. read more

Three Creek Metro Park is really big. It has several sections that are scattered. There's something kind of unique about each. It has too much to see at one time so several visits are needed to appreciate it. There's a beautiful pond and miles of hiking trails. It may be hard to decide which area of the park to visit first. It's entrances are located mostly off of Bixby Road or Williams Road. The park is just outside of Groveport in a quieter part of the Columbus area. It's still close to the interstate so it's not too far away from anything. The park is one of the biggest in the metro system. If you're wondering about the three creeks, they are Alum, Big Walnut, and Blacklick. The park is connected to the bike trail so you can get to many other parks. It has seemingly endless trails and there's also areas for canoeing. The most beautiful part of it might be Heron Pond. It's always quiet and the lake is so nice when the sun is shining off it. There's also a dog park in the north area off Watkins Road. I like how much you can do at Three Creeks Metro Park. It's big enough you can go there several times and still not see everything. There's lots of great bicycle trails. read more

Aside from a lack of clear signage for the Turtle Pond trail, I thoroughly enjoyed my first visit to Three Creeks Metro Park. They have the really long Alum Creek and Greenway Trails great for biking and walking. The Alum Creek trail connects all the smaller gravel and dirt paths that stay inside of Three Creeks. All but two trails are pet friendly which means a lot of ground for us to cover and my dog really enjoys that. Most metro parks say 'pet friendly' and then have one trail 0.5 miles long which is a joke to my walk-obsessed pup. A very pretty and peaceful place, I'm sure it gets busy in the summers but looking forward to coming back and hitting some more of their trails. Our Visit: I parked in the south parking lot (The Confluence Area) in front of the information sign and the bathrooms. Started on the Alum Creek Trail because I couldn't figure out how to get on the Turtle Pond Trail so I cut off Alum Creek onto the gravel of Turtle Pond Trail. Went around one and a half times and the exited Turtle Pond via the only access trail which is in the first parking lot by the playground. Crossed the road and saw people enter the Evergreen Trail next to the Nature Play Area so to limit contact and respect space we walked beside the road down to the other Evergreen Pet Trail entrance. Duke, my very active albeit older GSD, enjoyed this dirt path and we took that trail around until it spits you out back at the Nature Play Area across the road from where we parked. With barely two miles under our belt, we headed North on Alum Creek Trail for a mile and then turned around and came back. Overall it was a nice walk, peaceful until you get close to 270 and a tad chilly. Wish I knew about this place pre-COVID because I would love to have walked my dog here in the summer and I bet there are hoards of people read more

Had a good 4 mile walk here this morning. I would recommend the Heron Pond "trail" ... its really just a bike path that leads to it but it's a nice long walk. Heron Pond itself has a trail around it -- we saw lots of people fishing. This seems like a great place to bike -- all the trails (for the most part) are made for it. read more

As good as it gets. Really. I came in at the Heron Pond entrance to ride my bike, and was overwhelmed. A great path, well-paved, through interesting scenery. Nice big pond, curves and slight hills, trees that will look amazing in a week or so. Plenty of benches, picnic tables, etc., along the way. Plus playgrounds and other things- it's a multipurpose park. Everything well-kept. Plenty of access points for car parking, and to the trail. There were people there on a weekday afternoon, but it didn't feel crowded. I'd come back more often if it were anywhere near me. I may have to find excuses to get down this way... read more

Hmm, so this is an interesting park. I came here after walking at Walnut Woods earlier in the day. I was following my GPS, but was super confused as I was driving past AEP training centers and other giant industrial parks to find the entrance -- the Confluence Trail entrance is right by a very large industrial building. There is a playground, nice restroom facilities, and a big picnic area near the parking lot. I just took a short hike on the Bluebell trail, which is a one mile dirt path that loops to and from the Alum Creek Trail. The path leads down along the creek and has a nice view of the titular three creeks area. It was pretty muddy and in a few areas some careful navigation was required over running water/mud puddles. I'll definitely need to come back and check out the park in the spring, since previous reviewers seem to indicate that's the time to be here. read more

Life has changed significantly since my last review - two children and now COVID-19. However, Columbus Metro Parks still does a great job - brought the two kids to get out of the house. Around 9 AM on a weekday morning there were a fair amount of people there, but it wasn't crowded and the kids had a blast on the nicely maintained trails. It's a large park so there was no way we were covering the whole thing with a four and a six year old, but that just makes for more trips later on! read more

This is a hard review because it's a gorgeous park with plenty of room to park, trails to explore, shady nooks to escape from summer heat etc. It kind of reminds me of Miami Whitewater for you Cincinnatians. But I came here for the Columbus half-marathon, 10k, 5k event and that's what I REALLY want to review. I wish for this particular event that they would have started the way they indicated they were going to (half-marathoners start, 5k's follow) versus last-minute switching it up. I also wish there had been more port-a-pottys. (People were late for start times because of the lack of places to use the restroom) And lastly, I wish that there had been better directions given re: the starting location. If I had to review JUST the park, i'd give it five stars. If I had to review JUST the event, i'd give it 1 (maybe 2 on a generous day) star. So right now i'm sticking with three stars. read more

Great shaded paths! A few dirt paths offing to the park maps, too. Absolutely in love with the wide paved paths we took. Several ponds/lakes, and of course Alum Creek winds in and out of the entire metro park. We passed a few picnic/playground areas - perfect for a cook-out or a friendly game of basketball. I'd recommend this park to any and all who like to be outside!! ***Why don't bikers/runners use their lips/bike bells to let you know their coming up on your right/left?! Venting. Positives: The BIKE PATH, which is the only reason I have been here the last two weeks. It has multiple spots to park and ride. You can park at the Sycamore Fields which has a path to the main one. Huron Pond is right on the trail. The main entrance also is perfect to get on the path. There is also a small kids playground pull-off that one can use to park and ride. They have rangers for educational trips. A main play structure at the main entrances. A secondary entrance with just a playground for toddlers and kids. Basketball courts. A shaded bike area mostly that keeps the afternoon sun from burning me. Negatives: Basketball courts aren't great. Numerous spots with just Port a Johns. Not closer to my home. The path's could use a few more signs as I did get lost here while walking with a school group a few year's ago. read more

This is one of those places that is much better in the springtime than in the winter! I've always loved this park. I have gotten lost here. I have spent hours running the trail. I've even gone swimming in one of the little ponds that's now hidden behind overgrown trees. I've almost gotten my finger bitten off by a snapping turtle... Ooops. So what I've learned about this place is: 1 - No one goes here. The boy and I walked 6 miles on Saturday here. We passed 3 other people. 2 - Its clean. We found a little bit of litter, but not as much as I see at other parks in the Columbus system. Its nice to take a walk under the trees and not worry about trash. 3 - There's a bit of everything. Creeks (obviously), grass, wetlands, fields, trees 4 - Lots of wildlife. Because there are so few people here, you will almost always find some wildlife here and there. I saw a fox here a few weeks ago, and this time a box turtle and the aforementioned snapping turtle. Just don't try to pick them up =) read more

Hence the name, Three Creeks merges Alum Creek, Blacklick Creek and Big Walnut Creek. It is a fairly large park at 1,050 acres. Within the park there is much wildlife that can be spotted, including many fish, mink and as they claim 100 species of birds. When I started my hike I came across a woodpecker that looked like it was Woodie's brother. There are some trails that are paved, but others are natural and vary in degree from easy to moderate. Activities at Three Creeks include hiking, biking, canoeing, cross country skiing, fishing, inline skating and jogging. Pets are allowed on the paved trails. A natural play area can be found in the Confluence and Evergreen Trail area. Picnic areas are available. You can also take a tram that will tour the trails and teach about the park. Programs include crafts, educational sessions and hikes. read more

I recently visited this park in search of some winter waterfowl at the ponds near the parking lot at the Rixby Road entrance. When it was apparent that my search was becoming unsuccessful I thought back to my first visit to the park in early spring of this year, which is hands down the best time to visit due to the sheer magnificence of the blue bell trail. The trail is located just off the bike bath to the right of the pond area, almost behind the bathrooms as you head towards the bike path. As you start the trail you immediately leave the lawn habitat left over from this piece of the parks farm days and enter the bottomland forest. Due to the flooding that occurs from the three creeks (black walnut, alum, and blacklick) this forest has very little shruby understory so the blue bells thrive and decorate the forest floor in early spring. Call the Metro Parks mainline before you go to check for trail closures which can occur during flood events and bring your camera! read more

Large, spacious park with a paved trail with "unimproved" natural trails connected to it. Noise from I-270 is heard at the North perimeter but is less intrusive towards the interior. The confluence of the three creeks is what you want to see. It's on an unimproved trail that could be a little muddy at times, or even inaccessible due to high water. read more

I love going for walks here. So peaceful, so beautiful. Just overall an amazing place. 10 out of 10 would definitely suggest taking your family here. They've even got a large enclosed dog park. Plenty of parking, several lovely trails and one mile long circle with a playground. read more

Three Creeks is a great little park, recently went biking with a friend here and found the all purpose trail to be one of the longer ones in Columbus good for riding. The all purpose trail will take you all the way up Alum Creek to the 70/livingston interchange. Inside the park itself there is opportunity for all sorts of natural expeditions. Wetlands observation, cranes and herons. Nature walks with a large variety of trees, floral and fauna. Fishing. And apparently, Marines introduction (for some reason they were in the park). If you're in to techie things like me, the AEP test center is next door, with a liquid nitrogen cooled superconductor, small wind generator, and two whopper tesla coils. Great place to take the family. We visited for the first time 6/4/13 and felt safe letting the kids run around. Not to mention seeing a large bird of prey swooping down and catching a fish in the lake was awesome. Watch out for the many bikers. read more

I was here for a Cross Country meet. The park is HUGE. Plenty of parking. The major flatland area was a swamp, as it had rained for a few days prior to the race. There is a nice road that leads around inside the park. Nice facilities! read more

This park has something for everyone. It's such a beautiful setting, well maintained, and has trails from hiking to biking and for viewing nature. Dogs are allowed, just be sure to cleanup after them. There's a pond for fishing, and the restrooms are always clean. Definitely a great place to spend a day, or a few hours, or even just a lunchbreak! read more
