This is a wonderful park. Jax always looks forward to running and playing with his fur buddies. There are four sections and they all are large enough room for running. Very clean, lots of water. There are a few that keep their eyes on their pooch and a few that pick up after them. I realize sometimes you forget but you run and exercise your dog so you know they poop . PICK UP!! read more

The best dog park in the area! There are three different dog parks to be exact-- the small dog, large dog, and then a miscellaneous one with no signage and lots of trees that people are rarely in. All three are completely fenced in with the double gate to get in/out. The dog park areas are so wonderful!! Not too muddy even after seemingly lots of rain, large enough for dogs to get plenty of running in, trees in each area, covered picnic areas with cement ground for the humans, and plenty of water bowls for the dogs! There are various different dog agility equipment within the fenced dog park areas too (both in the small and large dog parks). People generally seem to be considerate about picking up after their pets, and there is an abundance of free bag dispensers and trash cans to help keep it a clean happy place! The park also includes multiple lovely paved trails that connect to Columbus' large bike path system. At Walnut Woods in particular there is a 2 mile paved loop trail somewhat around the dog park area that is a lovely walk next to the river in the back, and very well groomed and clearly taken care of! There is plenty of parking and picnic tables both in and out of the designated dog parks for picnics, snacks, etc. There is also a large covered gazebo/picnic area near the dog parks (but not inside them) that is almost always empty but very clean and well kept. The park is open from 6:30-dark and I have honestly never seen it empty, even at seemingly random times that I have been there. Even if no one is necessarily in the dog park area there are usually plenty of people walking on the paths, picnicking, etc. An overall great place to spend sometime outside! read more

Walnut Woods Dog Park is one of the best around Columbus. It's in much better shape than many others. This is due to it being newer of course. It has several modern facilities. This is located right next to the main park. I like it but don't go too often because it's farther away. It's located on Lithopolis Road near Groveport. This is next to one of the newer metro parks. As such it's in much better condition than many dog parks in Columbus. One of the best things is separate areas for bigger and smaller dogs. It also has a water fountain to fill bowls. Several obstacle courses for dogs give them something else to keep occupied. If you're looking for good places for dogs in Groveport go to Walnut Woods Dog Park. It has features like obstacle courses and water fountains. The park is pretty new so it's better kept than many other parks. read more

I'm a big fan of Walnut Woods! They seem to really take care of the parks. The small dogs have a huge area to run and play and the big dogs have an even bigger area. The only issue I seem to have with this park is the mud, the fact that the dog watering hole always seems to be closed and very dangerous, and the stagnant water left around the park. ***just went today and had no issues with any of these issues! May just have been the time of year.*** The big dog park seems to get WAY more traffic so I get that it's hard to care for but I almost wish they'd just put rocks in the muddy areas or something. It's right by the entrance which kind of stinks. Otherwise, nice park. There's a drinking fountain for dogs, easy entrances, a wide variety of sections to play, and even a shelter for the puppy parents to sit under. The parking lot is a little ways from the bigger dog park but it's nothing too crazy. It's nicely paved and there's plenty of places to park. If you felt like it you could even take your pup on a nice scenic walk. The trees in the fall are AMAZING! It's super colorful all over the park. read more

Best dog park ever. It's so well-maintained, spacious, and has trees. The small dog side is completely separate from the large dog side (not that this matters to me, but usually they are connected). The highlight of the park is the fenced-in pond within the large dog area. It's the perfect size and is surrounded by rocks, so their paws don't get too muddy; I was able to walk around it while my Lucy had a great swim. This side has a covered area with a picnic table and a bench, and shared toys and water bowls. Outside the fence,they have a drinking fountain for the dogs. There are also poop bags & trash receptacle. The only downside for me is that it is a 30 minute drive to Groveport. read more

Here's the deal. I've been to and reviewed many a dog park but this one blows all others out of the water. The majority of my review is about the large dog park (i have a large dog, sorry you small dog lovers) so if you do have a small dog here's all I havefor you- the small dog park is 20lbs and under and has a 3ft tall gate, it looked pretty spacious compared to most small dog parks I've seen. Both the large and small dog parks are surrounded by quaint trails, and both include a partial dog agility area. As for the large dog park- it is fairly large and flat so if you and your pooch are a fan of the chuck it ball throwers this park is The surrounding metro park is a partial tree nursery, making it picturesque (especially right now in the spring with everything in bloom!). My favorite park of the large dog park (I don't think the small dog park has one but I am not sure---- ) the dog swim pond! It has its own fence, unlike Darby Bend Lakes Park dog swim area or Antrim park lake that are not really fenced in and require that your dog always listen to you when off leash (because if you're dog is the type that will run when they get scared these parks are an absolute no. This has never been an issue for me, but as I know several people with puppies or dogs from shelters that are forever very fearful, I can see this being very important to some people.) I didn't take nearly as many pictures as I should have, but that just means I will have to return to update my review and give a better over all impression! (Hehe just an excuse to go to my new favorite dog park) It's a 30 minute drive for me but it's absolutely worth it! read more

My dogs loved this park!! It was awesome! They have 3 areas 1 for small dogs (under 20lbs) 1 for over 20lbs and the last is the pond area!! They have a bucket of community toys which was super nice and trees planted strategically for the dogs enjoyment ! It was really great!!! My dogs played and played! I will def be coming back! Now my dog loves water, maybe loves water a little too much. This is the only dog park that know where I can take her without the threat of her swimming off, HUGE PLUS! The park is divided into three areas, a small dog area and a large dog area that is divided further to a pond side and a grass side. We always start our trip by exploring the grassy side. There are many small trees and the grass is still mostly in tact, another plus for this park over others. Once my dog gets hot she stands by the pond fence and it is time to go swimming. The pond is filled with pebbles that surround the pond. It isn't necessarily muddy. It is small but enough room for dogs to swim around. There are also frogs around that my dog has decided is great fun to try to catch. We always end out trip drying off again in the grassy area. Edit: The drainage pipes in the water area have been covered. I no longer have to worry about my dog crawling in! Thank you Walnut Woods Metro Park for making this positive change. Overall a solid option for doggie fun on a summer day. read more

It's easy to see why so many drive 30min to come here. Now here is a great dog park. I was immediately impressed with the smooth asphalt parking area, with several handicap spaces. To my right was a solid structure his & hers bathrooms. No running water, but Eco-flush, and hand sanitizer. Still a solid building if ever caught in a hazardous weather situation. I see a very good size covered picnic tables shelter. Near that is a minor playground for kids. It has that very foam rubber base cushion under it. Even park benches for the parents to watch. Lots of new and mature trees are everywhere for shade. I found out this property used to be a tree farm, or nursery. That's why all the trees. To my left, I must cross a walking trail path on the way towards the small dog area. Signs and potty boxes are showing that dogs are welcome on the trails, for those that will clean up after them. Inside the fenced small dog park, I see plenty of space, trees for shade(and doggy potties), benches to sit, a permanent shelter over a concrete pad with a picnic table. There are several bowls laying about. I notice that several of the patrons take pride in picking up after other dogs, trash, and filling bowls. *** On a note*** Almost everyone brought water with them. There is a water fountain for dogs to drink from, but patrons say it's nasty well water. Most dogs won't drink from it, based on smell alone. Farther to my left is the large dogs fenced in area. Even more picnic tables, and another permanent shelter over a table. All of these fenced areas have the double gate system. Further to my left, in the back corner of the big dog are is a gate to a swimming pond. Yes you can take your dog over to this pebble lined pond for some splashing good fun. Of course there's another picnic table to sit at. Both of the areas have some minor agility equipment, but no full blown training course. Throw in some good running water, and this would be a solid 5 star resort for dogs. read more

This is a very good dog park. I'm exploring them and rating and doing comparisons. Late fall and early winter we had several rains other another dog park we went to offer has become a muddy mess that I can't deal with until the summer when it's dry. This park appears to be well maintained and cared for. Besides the large and small dog areas there is a separate area with rows and rows of trees where you and you dog can get exercise and walking up and down the rows. It also is a less muddy area since the roofs seem to walk this area rather than run. In summer there is another separate area with pond and dog swimming. Great place. It was just me and my pup last Saturday, so I can't comment on the usual visitors to this dog park. Otis is solidly in the large dog category, so I also can't say much about the small dog area, except that it looked bigger than others I've seen. This dog park seems brand-spanking new, with well-maintained grass and a pebble walking path (which is great if it gets muddy or wet) as well as 5 different dog toys people seem to have left. Woohoo for owners picking up after their dogs - no poop in sight! There is a pond area, which was closed for the season, according to its sign. (I am assuming this means the winter/early spring season - hoping it opens up soon!) All in all, great park that's worth the 20+ minute drive from downtown. Great dog park and a lot of area for the dogs to run. However as always people ruin it for other people. My wife and I had taken out dogs there and where having a great time when this woman comes walking in with her poodle. My chihuahua was going toward the entrance barking and was very excited. Instead of her waiting for me to grab my dog she just walks in and my dog started to be very aggressive towards her dog I grabbed him asap and she starts a bunch of stuff with my wife about our aggressive dog to which none of would happen if she had us let us get our dog or waited like most people would have. No she instead calls the ranger the she new by name and just kept coming by us with her dog. No dogs where hurt but what an ass! read more

Great park! Clean, water available nearby, great swimming pond, shade, and lots of room to run! Kids park and bathrooms nearby! Only thing lacking is water for humans, so make sure you bring your own! Totally worth the 20ish minute drive to get there. Kiko loves it and we will be back! read more

Sorry I have to be the one to blemish a purrrfect rep ;). This place is really great. I love bringing my dog here. We drive from Reynoldsburg and its about 20 mins but totally worth it. I have a large dog and children. Both love coming here, and my only gripe is that there is no clean running water anywhere. No water fountains, no sinks in the bathrooms, which to me is very strange. This place can get really muddy, it would be nice if there was a place to wash my hands, and maybe, if it wasn't too much a stretch, a place to wash my dogs paws before he gets into the car. read more

AMAZING place to take the dogs for some exercise!!My dogs don't rrslly know how to swim yet but we been there 3 times at the fenced in pond that's right by the dog park only thing that separates them is a gate .I live 40 mins away so I don't come to much because gas kills .But I'll be coming more often as the park is greatly maintained and very well taken care of and the nice people we meet and the amazing doggos.They have multiple benches if your feeling like sitting back and enjoying the sun or lots of room to walk around and run with your dog .I love this place will be here often . read more

I'm currently doing a tour of dog parks and WWDP is my favorite one (of three, in case you're curious) so far. It's super clean, is HUMONGOUS for both small dogs and large dogs, and is varied in equipment available (they even agility equipment to test your dogs skillz (or sharpen them, as the case may be)). I do wish there was a way to access the dog pond without going through the large dog area (not that anyone or anydog is a jerk, just that I feel bad that G is wearing a leash while all these dogs are off while leading her to the pond). We've had the best experiences with other owners here and it has one of the most active small dog areas I've ever seen. Take note, dog parks: WW is doing it right. read more

A relatively new, but good park, bring your own water since there isn't any. The only other shortcoming is that to access the dog beach you have to go through the large dog park. For the most part, every time I've been here on weekend mornings, I've been the only one in the small dog park. Not sure how my dog would do with the 50+ pound dogs that are in the large park so I didn't want to chance it. Both areas are pretty big, and the pavilions in the park are nice for shade since the trees are pretty short. read more

Definitely my favorite dog park. It is clean, spacious, well-maintained. No water or trash cans which is a little strange, but they do have dog bags and a place to put dog waste. We drive 25 minutes to get here, and there are other dog parks closer, this is just a great place, worth the drive, and my 2 small dogs love it. read more

Absolutely fantastic. I love having a free, fenced in dog park in Cbus that I can take my dogs to swim. BowWow Beach in Stow is great, but it's so far. This is a great little pond and much more accessible. I haven't gone when there's a big crowd (if there ever is), but haven't had problems for my two Huskies. read more

This is a good dog park. It's a wide open space, with two separate for small and large dogs. There's a lot for my dog to do as far as run around, go through tunnels, and jump over bars. It's also a nice area. There's also bags provided to clean up after your pet. read more

First time here, very nicely set up.so glad to have small dog area.there was only one other dog in the small dog area.which I was glad.everyone so nice, all the big dogs so well mannered (except ours-he's a little hyper@4 months old). not that anyone can help the weather, but it was so muddy & saturated we could barely walk around.My only concern was around the fence line, it was a puddle of mud & space between the ground& bottom of fence.was a little afraid our pup woulda be able to crawl under. But as our little one gets older& a little more mindful, we can't wait to bring him back to run. read more

Great dog park for our little fox terrier mix. No other dogs to play with but he had a blast being off leash and running around. The park is so clean and well taken care of. Will definitely make this a weekly trip. Hopefully there will be other dogs for him to play with next time! Only criticism I wish there was a pond in the little dog side for them to swim in. We use the small dog enclose at Walnut Woods Dog Park and haven't yet visited the pond section. I evaluate a dog park on three categories: facilities, dogs, and owners. Walnut Woods Dog Park gets three out of three. My gold standard is Godown Dog Park in Worthington. The small dog enclosure is well maintained and large. They have a hardy turf that does not get dug up by dogs running on it but sometimes gets waterlogged. There is an enclosure and picnic benches for the owners. A good number of trees have been planted and when mature will provide shade. The dogs are friendly and I have not witnessed any unruly behavior. The third category, the owners are very pleasant to chat with while keeping their eye on their dogs in case they need to run over and pick up poop. I didn't give it five stars because you have to bring your own water which I have learned to keep a couple of gallons in my car. Also it is a drive from my house. read more

Personally, I do not go to many dog parks. However, I have an out of town friend visiting with her two big labs, and they are regular dog parkers so we decided to seek out one here. The review is based on info from her. 1 - this park has a single entrance/exit. Apparently, most dog parks have separate exits and entrances. 2 - the actual space is limited. She said it is common for there to be a wooded area and a walking trail available within the confines of the dog park fence. 3 - there is no water source available. The water had been shut off for the winter so patrons need to bring their own water. This is fine, but on the first visit if you don't know about that, it presents something of a problem for a dog thirsty from running. Also, she said that along the fence on the inside there is a lot of dog poop, so it must be common for people not to pick up after their dogs. I am glad that there is a dog park out here, as it is a great resource for dog owners. There are just a few things that could be improved. read more
