I…read moredidn't even know WHY we were stopped---just cars and trucks, bumper to bumper, with no explanation whatsoever. Once it got moving, at long LONG last, I drove over this bridge, which was at least a couple MILES from where I got stuck. God knows how long all the hundreds of cars in front of me were waiting. I googled Rio Vista to see if there was an explanation, and sure enough, it turns out to be this bridge, which at the time seemed impossible. How can they POSSIBLY think it's alright to routinely RUIN everyone's day???

If there is a lot of history around this building, it escapes me. City Hall is a moderately-sized, old rectangular building. The day that I visited, it was locked, but I watched people drop off their utility payments in a box on the front door. That was perhaps not the highlight of my day. At this location, there are cool, relaxing views. After you finish watching people drop off their utility payments, you can read the whale monument, or have a seat and watch the fisherman. This is also a pleasant place to go for a stroll along the water. At City Hall itself, you can check it out in about 2 minutes. There are dilapidated bathrooms around the left side near the back. You can also watch dogs jump into the water near the boat launching ramp. I only saw dogs jumping into the water. I did not see any utility customers jumping into the water after dropping off their payment-- but if they jumped really fast, I might have missed them. Pleasant area for a quick visit, but don't expect a diamond attraction here.

So, on a warm summer day, I took the day off for a fun visit to Rio Vista. In anticipation of this wonderful event, I wondered what I would see at this landmark: "Would they have guided tours?" "Would there be a gift shop?" "Would they offer AAA discount?" Yes, yes, I had many questions about this historical location. It's not too far away from the bridge, on River Road. Hmm... I passed by and didn't see anything, so I turned around and drove slowly around the area. Nope, there's nothing to see, except some old dilapidated buildings. If there is a historical landmark in there, it's well disguised as some guys old shack. As landmarks go, definitely not a five star attraction.
