There are some nice trails for the walking of the dog. And what amazing timing given we had just yesterday listened to Aly Ward's Ologies podcast (the Bryology episode) -- the picnic shelters are beautifully moss covered. So there. Unlike some rest stops that are shared, there are two distinct areas for this rest stop. We stopped on our way South, the stop located North of where Rooks Creek crosses the Interstate. This area provides some nice topographical variety. There is a decent size playground for the kids, a bridge crossing the creek to a dead-end lookout. The inside includes a couple of vending areas, and large clean bathrooms. Since I-55 is one of the major thoroughfares of the state of Illinois, there are large rest stops every 50 - 100 miles in both directions. Per the IDoT website, this is to promote driver safety. It also encourages frequent rest stops for those passengers who need it.

They had the option to pick that on the website! Checking in was a breeze. Early check in was also notified to us the day prior and on the drive there. My husband made a call to them asking if we can have two rooms connected and they were very accommodating. They didn't promise but they delivered. Customer service was very satisfactory. We not only were able to have connected rooms for our family, they placed us in a corner of the hotel away from other patrons. That was very thoughtful of them. Rooms were very roomy and clean. Beds were extra comfortable. Bathrooms were very nice. The double Queen room was bigger than our king size room. Free breakfast is served!! Wow I find that a total rarity these days. We didn't get to enjoy a free breakfast since we went to a nearby IHOP but next time we will. My kids LOVED the pool. Excellent size and there was a hot tub. The water temp for both was great! We were able to swim very late (10:00pm) and woke up early to swim again (8:00am). Overall it was a wonderful weekend stay. No hassles and very pleasant. I'm very pleased we picked this hotel rather than any other in Morris, Illinois. It makes me want to research and try Holiday Inn in other cities.

Nicki, the store manager, answered and immediately went out to see if she could find it. When we finally got back, she helped us search and even helped us comb through the dumpster. Thank goodness we found them!! The entire team was kind and helpful and went way beyond above and beyond.
