The bed was comfortable, decor was warm and inviting, and the large jacuzzi tub was very relaxing and spacious. Breakfast in the morning was homemade french toast and we enjoyed it on the sunny indoor porch complete with koi pond. We wished we could have stayed longer than one night but definitely have a new favorite in terms of local places to stay. For the price and hospitality I would recommend staying here even if you live nearby like we did and just want to get away. If you're in the area visiting Lawrence or Kansas City this isn't far from either cities and is worth the drive. The house itself is a beautiful older home that's been so nicely updated and decorated. The house has so much character! I'd highly recommend Halcyon to anyone stopping in Lawrence. The house is located near Mass Street, and there's plenty of street parking available.

There are 4 suites on the first floor with a huge professional kitchen in the center. Mike was a professional chef, so you can expect some excellent food. The rooms are spacious and the ones I saw had lovely views of hardens, a gazebo & a lake. Mike & Christine also host monthly dinners for locals. For about $50pp and BYOB you can enjoy a multi course dinner in a beautiful setting. Finally, on weekends you can expect to find local farmers offering fruits and vegetables along with vegan/vegetarian cookies. There was also a rancher selling grass fed chicken. beef and pork. Not a huge variety of vendors, but still a nice way to support the locals. It's a short visit. Maybe half an hour, but Casa Somerset is a nice little getaway.

He calls me back, yelling, saying he "tried" to get a hold of me several times to cancel but in Booking.com it showed it was still booked. I called booking.com and they told me that he never informed them that my reservation was cancelled. So... he cancelled my reservation after he found out that a music festival was the same weekend I booked so he can raise his prices. What a dishonest piece of shit! If I didnt called today, I would've drove 4 hours, to find out I didnt have a place to stay. To top it off, because he didn't inform Booking.com, my funds would've still been taken out from my credit card! I had to demand booking.com to call him while I was on the phone to cancel it on his end, because my reservation was still confirmed. Again, what a joke of a person you are! When we arrived we were greeted by Scott and after a quick run through and tour of the house we went to our room, The Jesse & Rhoda room. The room was so charming and perfect for our needs. We spent the next few hours roaming around their land. They have beautiful walking trails and a pond with fish. There's turkeys, dogs, kittens, and cows to become friends with. They turned their barn into the Bar/n which is a super cool hangout space with TVs, dartboard, and an amazing bar. You can bring your own alcohol and I could see this being an amazing place to bring a group of friends. While we were in the Bar/n chickens and kittens were roaming around. It was so charming. There is an option to add dinner to your stay for $25 a person. You must add this to your reservation! We were able to enjoy and amazing surf and turf dinner with the owners with amazing homemade bread, celery salad from their garden, and amazing fruit crisp. Their beef is from the cattle they raise in their property. Don't even get me started on breakfast the next morning. It was just as good! We will definitely be returning for another staycation!

It's an adorable Colonial style house that was built in 1898. It was Designed by George Washburn. You'll find a statue of him downtown. The original hardwood floors are still in immaculate shape and not a speck of dust seen. There are lots of stained glass and beveled windows. They have 3 rooms upstairs on the second floor for rent. One has a private bath and the other two share a bath. It has a spacious shower with a raindrop faucet and optional hand held. They have goat milk shampoo, soap, and lotion. It was a nice touch. The family lives on the third floor. The sponsors served breakfast at 9 am with scrambled eggs, banana nut muffin, bacon, fruit, option of yogurt, and coffee, water, and the option of juice. More than enough. FYI. There is a house with a very similar appearance to the pictures one block before you get here, also on the corner. The B&B has a sign on the front porch.

We were able to text/ call them personally at any time of day if we had a question or needed anything whatsoever. Hands-down the best B&B service I've ever experienced. Our room was wonderful, intimate, and cozy. It is also the only romantic couple-focused room stay in Weston. It featured a two-person tub, hand-picked antiques collected over many years, and some of the coolest architectural features I've ever seen. They brought breakfast right to our door, hot & ready AND at whatever time we requested. It was also DELICIOUS!!! So many options to choose from and they make it all themselves. You can see from the photo what a spread it was and how GREAT it looks. The saloon bar also had many yummy drinks and is directly next to the room we stayed in. It also had tons of antiques that you could tell were intentionally selected over lots of time. They have architectural salvage all over their property and have all kinds of restoration peices for homes, shops, and everything in between. One of the coolest, well-rounded stays of all time with 5-star service, great food & drink, and a ton of things to do and see on their property alone! It is also about a 5 minute walk from everything downtown so we didn't end up having to drive anywhere. Stumbled upon this quirky little spot while walking down Main Street and decided to check it out…read more From a distance, the covered bridge caught my eye, and I thought, "Why not investigate?" It had a vibe of a deserted pumpkin patch--random picture ops like phone booths and other oddities scattered around that didn't seem to quite make sense. There was a sign for a general store, but it didn't look open, if it was ever a store at all. Then, we found some double saloon doors leading to what appeared to be a bar. A sign inside said, "If you want a drink, call Jeff." Now, I don't know where Jeff was or what he was up to if he wasn't tending bar, but I wasn't about to find out. We snapped a few pics of the dusty artifacts, but didn't venture too far. After all, we were on a quick weekender, and the idea of a trip to urgent care for a tetanus shot didn't seem like the best plan. All in all, it was a quirky stop with some decent photo ops, but I read there's a B&B on the property. Can't say I'll be booking a stay anytime soon, though!
