Her husband was also very helpful and set up the basement theater so we could enjoy a movie on the projector with surround sound! We stayed in Paschal's Suite which was nothing short of amazing! The bed was comfortable, decor was warm and inviting, and the large jacuzzi tub was very relaxing and spacious. Breakfast in the morning was homemade french toast and we enjoyed it on the sunny indoor porch complete with koi pond. We wished we could have stayed longer than one night but definitely have a new favorite in terms of local places to stay. For the price and hospitality I would recommend staying here even if you live nearby like we did and just want to get away. If you're in the area visiting Lawrence or Kansas City this isn't far from either cities and is worth the drive. It's also just 20 minutes from KC Missouri downtown. There is ample parking. Housekeeping is typical of extended stay places where they don't come to clean everyday until you leave. But clean towels can be picked up from front desk any time. The queen bed room is clean and equipped with a kitchenette: full size fridge, large microwave, double electric glass top burners, sink, solo coffee machine and toaster. Enough for occupants to cook meals, sometimes the smell of their food permeate throughout the hallway for days! Bowls, plates and utensils can be picked up in supply base counters in the what probably used to be where breakfast was served. It's now just a seating area with TV monitor turned on 24/7. This hotel has a laundry room equipped with what look like ample sized washers and dryers. Each load costs $2. There is also a small exercise room with a couple of treadmill and elliptical machines and a set of dumbbells and a water cooler. Upon check out they give you a receipt and refund your $100 deposit.

Bar available poolside. Drinks from the 5 o'clock Somewhere Bar were ok, not strong enough to get a buzz. Food from the Landshark Bar & Grill was good. Reasonable prices except for the four coconut shrimp I paid $15 for. Six shrimp would've been a decent portion size. There is a complimentary Margarita at 3pm. Also available on site is a coffee shop and a gift shop. Beware of excessive fees! Resort fee, guest occupancy fee, tax and parking ($20). Paying for parking is absurd when the cheapest room is $300 per night. I paid $25 for valet. Several times I had to park and retrieve my car due to unavailable staff. At least it was a short walk to the resort. If you don't want to stay overnight, day passes are available.

We are both tall but it still required me to use a toothbrush holder to change the spray setting. Awkward. End results were poor at best. Desk clerk said as I checked out he thought the head would provide only the inner hard spray OR the light outer ring spray. Also he confirmed all rooms have this ceiling rain shower head. Showering took forever. Also the provided rectangle conditioner bottle was extremely difficult to squeeze to get any out and it is not a screw off cap for some odd reason. Last thing about the shower I swear - cleaning staff needs to give the walls a 2nd look before finishing their cleaning as I saw 2 sets of hairs on the shower's back wall at the 3-1/2 feet height. Very nice hotel though as it is kept in great condition and has a lot of amenities! Breakfast provided had all the usual selections from cold to hot offerings (cereal to waffles). Checking in I requested a hard floor pet room and was promptly switched. Very friendly and helpful clerk at the desk upon our arrival Hotel is located about 2 miles out from restaurants and shopping which we prefer so it was a very quick drive back down 6th to have supper.

I can see that they're trying but there was just a lot of little things that added up to a reduced score. It's by no means a "bad" place to stay. There's just some things to keep in mind: - The beds are very firm. Some people may prefer that but my back started to hurt in the night. - The shower heads are not all rainfall (maybe some reviewers misunderstood). - Reservations and pre-paid room selections are picked out well in advance. On the upside, that means they're ready for you when you check-in... On the downside, that means you're unlikely to have much of a say in terms of location. - The walls between rooms are thin. When the air conditioner was off, we could hear our neighbors conversation. - Rooms can have minor defects. Ours had a broken electrical outlet cover (not a big deal). All that said, there's some impressive things going for it: + By FAR the best amenity is the proximity to Rock Chalk Park. The sports pavilion is absolutely epic. For 5 bucks per person, out of county guests get access to a TON of sports fields (indoor soccer, volleyball, basketball, tennis, etc). This was the highlight of the stay. + Breakfast is decent (standard Continental items) + Staff seemed friendly and helpful All n' all, I don't think it was a "bad" experience. I just think I may have gone into this expecting it to be a 4-star hotel when really, it's more of a super solid 3-star. Does that make sense?
