They do it right and they get it done fast. I had initially thought I only needed a new floor, but…read morethen Home Depot told me they could not install one due to water damage. Chris was the only person who looked at it who was able to figure out how the water damage was actually happening. Even the insurance adjuster missed it! I also appreciate that Chris and his team worked to save me money, e.g. keeping the original bathroom vanity when we determined it was still usable. This was an unplanned expense, so the ability to work with GreenSky was a big plus, too. The vinyl plank floor looks and feels great; now I wish I could have it in my kitchen and entry, too. Next time, when I hope I have a planned remodel, I will be calling Van Vleet Construction.

Working with Chris VanVleet was AMAZING!!! We had a 25 or 30 year old rotting, 3 tier deck that…read moreneeded to be demolished and replaced. Chris spent almost 2 hours going over the new deck plan I had drawn up, and suggested some changes that would allow us to have a larger deck, and still stay within our budget. Our new deck is almost 10 feet above ground. The stairs go down to a 4x4 landing, and then make a 90 degree turn, and end up directly in front of our gate. The deck is beautiful, and rock solid. Chris and Darian were polite and professional throughout the entire project. Chris made sure that all of our needs were met, and gladly accomodated us on some last minute changes. Chris is a man of great integrity, and a hard worker, and we will be hiring him for future remodeling projects.

The simpler solution he eventually used was just as good, but he wasn't happy when we didn't want to pay for materials he never purchased or used. We would have been happier if he had been honest about his schedule and bid the project more accurately.

Little did I know I was going to be wasting over $5,000 for a few small fixes around the house. A few areas of drywall to be patched, sanded and painted.... Fix a few door hinges, paint a closet.... Nail trim that I ALREADY HAD to the walls because our nail gun stopped working...... little things like that. The biggest red flag is that he never got me a breakdown of what he was going to be doing and how much it was going to cost before he started. He gave me 3 vague categories with absolutely no detailed breakdown of the price. He said he would get the numbers typed up and sent over... but never did. 4 weeks went by and I just wanted him to start so I brushed it off. He probably paid around $350 for materials AT THE MOST and charged me over $4,500 for labor. Took a week, I was constantly reminding him of things that he forgot to do. Had to have him come back out because he forgot to do several things and a few of the things that he did fell apart after a couple weeks of light use. He forgot to replace a piece of standard trim around a laundry room doorway that I brought up during the estimate so I asked him to come back out and replace it because I was paying for it to be replaced. He tried to convince me that this piece of STANDARD TRIM was no longer made and that he best he could do was sand it and fill it. Literally the most standard piece of trim imaginable. They absolutely still make it. So yes, I was stupid enough to agree to the initial quote that he gave me... but learn from my mistakes and do not be as stupid as I was and overpay for the lowest quality work probably in the state of Minnesota. I reached out the day he finished "making things right" to explain that I was still extremely dissatisfied and discuss the price being adjusted accordingly to the poor work he did and the complete failure of his attempt to "'make things right", however I was unsuccessful in reaching him because he blocked my phone number.
