I inherited an antique bed that belonged to my grandmother. I loved the posts but knew it was impractical to keep the bed due its size so imagine how happy I was to hear about Monticello Antiques. Irene and Dave were able to enlarge the bed so it can accommodate a queen mattress, which is what I wanted in the guest room. They worked with me to design the headboard so it would be taller and more updated than the original and Dave fixed the posts where additional carving was needed. It just turned out beautifully. I couldn't be more pleased. You cannot buy the craftsmanship of this bed in today's world. Thank you, Irene and Dave for the love and care you gave to my grandmother's bed. It is lovely!

This is a cute market!…read more My husband was invited by a vendor he knows so we drove down for the October market on a pretty, sunny day. There are tons of vendors here - in front of Waterside they're easy to see but there are more inside and on the back area by the water so be sure to walk through the building (a few were set up inside in back by the doors) and onto the sidewalk outside where there were easily another 10-15 tents. There is a lot of vintage/flea market clothing but there are also vendors selling their crafts like wood cutting boards, stones and crystals, bags, soaps and candles, etc. We had a good time and everyone was very friendly.

But that's all preference. So many booths to go through. It's bigger than I thought. It's goes back deep. But, it is easy to navigate. There was a male working. He was not the most inviting. But, I'll just classify him as an introvert. When it came time to check out he was great. Parking was in the street for me. If there is lot parking I did not notice.

This is a small little shop in downtown Norfolk right off Granby street but, as the name implies,…read moreit's full of little treasures one might find in some storage boxes in granny's attic. The rooms seems to have some level or organization but there are a ton of different goodies throughout. Small rooms dot the store filled with Tiffany-style lamps, salt and pepper shakers, hats, silver trays, and other items. In the back there are a bunch of antique glasses (think drink ware) as well as a kitchen area and then a huge section with a wall full of pyrex glassware. I found some cute little rose salt and pepper shakers for $8 and the day we were there (a Saturday at noon) there were vendors set up out front displaying items and sales throughout. If you like looking for vintage or antique goodies - this is a great spot.

I've tried to visit a few times on a Sunday afternoon but they aren't open…read more- literally it's been like 5x I've been in the neighborhood having dinner or something and I wanna come browse the wares in this high-end antique store only to always see they aren't open! FINALLY yesterday I was over here early enough meeting friends for lunch that I was able to sneak in for 30 minutes. There are lots of beautiful things in here --- they have some seriously well-preserved classical pieces from France and Europe from around 1900 for $300-400 like mirrored tables, reupholstered chairs, chandeliers and such... I spoke to the lady inside for a while and she was very friendly and efficient. We talked about some nice dining room chairs I liked that were from France that had been redone (only the upholstery) and were about $2450 for the set of 6. Chandeliers ranged from $1500-5000 depending on the size and there were large statement pieces as well as small things like punch bowls and cups. If you love to antique this is a great stop - with high-end items. Worth a look.
