I did not take any photos here because I did not plan to review, but after thinking about my visit and chatting with my friend who was with me, I decided to make a few comments. I realize thrift stores rely on donations, but several items we picked up were marked boutique but appeared more than lightly worn. Many of the clothing items were heavily worn and not in good repair. A necklace behind the counter was missing more than a few gems. The store is organized by categories but the lighting is awful, and makes it seem dirty even if it isn't, and there are dead ends/blocked aisles that require you to turn around and go the other way. Staff seemed friendly enough. I interacted 3 times with a young male teen and he seemed pretty low key minimal interaction but by the 3rd chat we hit it off to to speak. He's probably just slow to warm up. I did try on a few clothing items that I purchased. My friend also found something. But I don't think we will add this to our list of shops to frequent. read more

The employees are always super helpful. They also have an area referenced as their "Boutique" items which are higher end items that are a little more pricey but again very good finds at a fraction of the retail price and in very good condition. read more

It's not the selection I was disappointed in, it was the attitude. Just trying to check out two of the ladies stood and watched the line grow before one reluctantly went to a register. She had short black hair and lots of makeup. Kept looking at me like she had a problem or wanted to say something. This place is very overwhelming to me. Items aren't labeled, sizing is all over the place so you have to literally dig through everything in order to find stuff. There was an awful smell, like moldy old wet towels or something. The quality of the stuff here was definitely lower quality compared to other thrift stores. The upkeep of the store looked like nobody had cleaned it or anything for a long time. A lot of the staff was also not abiding by their rule on the door "everyone must wear a mask". read more

This is my favorite place to go Thrifting.., mostly for clothes. It's highly organized with great selections in awesome condition. There are dressing rooms available on most days (not on big sale days). They also have friendly staff and customers which can really mean a lot to me and my friends. And my favorite part is the boutique section featuring high-end women's clothes. Each week features a tag color for half off the already low tag price. I prefer to go early to beat the crowds and to find the best inventory items. I shop thrift stores all around the city and this place is always great fun and never disappoints. read more

This store has become my go to place for quality clothes at great prices. I love the layout. More upscale brands are at the front of the store in the boutique section. Those close are going to cost a dollar or 2 more, but then again, you'll be looking at JCrew, Banana Republic, Ann Taylor, etc. I shop in both the boutique section and general section. Remember to look for the color of the week, and get significant savings (50%). I've bought Christmas dishes, glassware, purses (Coach and Donney&Burke), men's dress shirts, and scarves. Remember, it's a thrift store, not Nordstrom. Whenever I go, it is reasonably clean for the amount of traffic it gets, and it doesn't smell. You aren't going to find dressing rooms full of clothes, a rack is provided outside. You need to sign up for their newsletter. Last year they had a 1cent coat sale. It was amazing. I bought 6 coats. You want to be there as soon as it opens for sales like that. Sign up for rewards. You get credit everytime you shop. read more

This place has a good selection of stuff. But for a thrift store they are overpriced. For example, I am not going to pay $14 for a used underarmor hoodie that I could buy on amazon for $23 brand new. Everything they have is priced it priced basically what you could get it for on sale andnew at tanger outlets in San Marcos. Maybe a couple of dollars less. Love hockey? What about New England, LL Bean, cold weather destination adventures, and/or just cranking your Texas A/C and cozying up in a fleece or hoodie? Love thrifting, but are perhaps a touch (+) obsessive compulsive? Thrift City is for you! THE most organized second-hand shop I've EVER visited, hands down. Even the freakin' *stuffed animals* are organized by color! Bestill my OCD heart!! The clothing is organized by gender, type, and even SIZE, then by color within those categories. It's supereasy to breeze in with a specific outfit/item/theme in mind, find what you need, and peace out. The "treasure hunt" aspect of thrifting is fun, don't get me wrong, but there's MUCh to be said about efficiency as well. Thrift City just feels awesomely... Curated. (Insert contented sigh HERE) No furniture. The focus of TC is on clothing, with a few small areas of housewares and books etc. The cashier, when asked, was unsure, but I'm 99% certain that TC gets their stocked shipped in from New England areas, as opposed to generating from local San Antonio donations. SO. FREAKIN'. COOL. (!!!!!) Every single time I go in (literally EVERY time. Seriously.) I'm able to virtually FILL my basket with the swag of my hockey-loving people...OMG y'all!! Swoon. This *totally* compensates for the lack of TX hockey gear at local Targets. TOTALLY. 137%. This most recent visit was a total jackpot - part if my haul included 3 Boston Bruins hoodies, 2 t-shirts of the same glorious black & gold team branding, a P-Bruins (the AHL affiliate) ball cap, and *multiple* other hockey/Red Sox/Ivy League/New England treasures. thrift city is my favorite thrift store in san antonio. i always find something every time i come :3. it sucks that the clothes in the ~boutique~ area are so much higher in price, but they're usually name brand pieces (i see a lot of ann taylor and banana republic). the workers are very kind and fruity. however the bathroom is a hellscape..never in my years of coming have i had to use it until the other day and i'm still a little scarred. other than that, the store is pretty well maintained. the men's section is lacking though.. overall epic store read more

After moving to San Antonio, I have been trying to find some new places to go thrifting. After searching Yelp, I found Thrift City and read all the awesome reviews. I decided to head out and try this new thrifting adventure. This location is fairly easy to get to and have a bunch of parking spots (even though they share with other businesses). This is a fairly big location. When I initially walked in I saw a bunch of clothing and didn't realize that the shopping carts are closer to the registers and the opposite side of the front of the store. This store has rows and rows of clothing on racks. The clothes here are separated by type, gender, color and size. They have a bunch of shoes closer to the back of the store. It can get really disorganized with the shoes and you can find a good portion of them thrown about on the racks and some on the floor. There are bags and purses close to the dressing rooms (they have a handful of dressing rooms where you have to have an employee come and unlock it for you....or wait for another customer to come out and hold the door open for you ^_^). They do have household items, stuffed animals, board games, bed sheets, curtains and other miscellaneous items towards the middle and back of the store. The women's clothing takes over the front half of the store and you will find that you can be at this store for hours if you want to go through the racks and try things on. You can also find really nice name brand items for super cheap! I found a pair of work pants that retailed for $58 (tags were still on) and got them for $5.99! They also have a loyalty program here where if you spend a certain amount you can get points on a card (or you can use their app) and use that for future purchases. You also get a heads up on the different sales that they have coming up. I would recommend getting it, especially if you see yourself coming here a lot and spending a lot of monies! read more

My daughter and I LOVE shopping here. They have the nicest cashiers, great selection of clothes and it's close to my house. HOWEVER, we have always joked about how no matter what the color of the day was, they must hide the clothes, because we can't find as many as we would like. Be ready to flip through and shop til you drop at Thrift City. If you happen to be a whiz with a needle and thread, I definitely recommend you come here for your inspiration and materials. The last time I came here, I left with two scarves, a beaded '20s clutch, a beret, and a wrap dress. If you come in, I definitely recommend Googling some of the brands you find. The beret I bought was only $1-2, but it retailed as a Nordstrom brand for $40. The bag was actually a Belgium based, old world business which retailer around $40-60 on Etsy reseller websites. Unbelievable deal for only, again, $1-2. The navy wrap dress I got was in rough shape when I first tried it on. It had deodorant stains, a terrible wide '70s collar, and hems that lacked everything. I have since removed and re-hemmed the collar which solved most problems in wear. Once I hem the bottom, it will be the perfect dress to dance in. Please come with some patience, an eye for what looks timeless, and willingness to dig through what may see like piles of mismatched items. I promise you it will be worth it! read more

Of the hundred titles I have purchased, only two were severely damaged, not bad for 99 cents a title. Thrift City isn't too bad. It has a ton of selection but some items you really have to sift through (like when the discounted items out). Not messy but like in any other store, you may have your occasional item dropped on the floor here and there. The shoes are usually the only area that gets pretty bad but I think this is a usual problem in any shoe department. They do have dressing rooms available but sometimes the employees are either scarce or take forever in order to open one for you. The color of the day is posted at the entrance to your right as soon as you walk in and right now they're offering $25 vouchers for $20. read more
