The prices are fine considering the selection kinda sucks but I went later in the day so that could've impacted it. The entire place smells like an 8th grade boy's locker room. It appears no effort has been made to even do a cursory cleaning of some items prior to placing them on the shelves. I couldn't get over the stench of cow manure when I walked into this thrift store today. Okay, so it probably wasn't *actually* from a cow, but nonetheless, the overwhelming scent made it hard to really browse. I'm giving three stars as I did notice some cool finds, but was on a mission for specific items that I wasn't able to find this time around. At the same time, Thrift Village is MUCH better than some of the other area thrifts, such as Chic But Cheap in Pitman, a store so cheap when it comes to investing in itself that it's nearly impossible to find due to a lovely printed out piece of paper hung in the window for a business sign. Not to mention that the store only appears to have items that were taken from the homes of deceased elderly people. But, getting back to Thrift Village, I'd have to say that I would probably stop back one day if I'm in the area and want to check out some books or glassware. The Yelp check in offer of 20 percent off is pretty cool too. read more

This store is FAR BETTER than the Goodwill 3 miles away in Glassboro. merchandise is thoroughly sorted and organized in two large warehouse spaces. They have a large selection of very nice furniture in good condition. Prices drop 30% after 30 days. If you like refinishing or upcycling, be sure to look here first. Huge selection of housewares and small appliances! Also found plenty of yard tools, lighting fixtures, and things one needs to set up house on a budget: lamps, everything for the kitchen, even new mattresses. I always find something here, from furniture to clothes to cookware. The prices are very fair. The place is HUGE, so prepare to spend lots of time. And the book section? They even have benches, so you can peruse your purchases at your leisure. The friendly help knows their stuff. "Stench of Manure"? That's laughable! Seniors have a heightened sense of smell, and I smell nothing offensive. (Maybe she got mixed up with Cow Town.) This place is much better than Goodwill or Salvation Army: it is privately owned with no fancy CEO calling the shots. read more

We donated thousands of dollars worth of furniture. There were two drivers/movers. One was nice, the other rude starting with the telephone conversation. Then he flat out lied to us telling us he wasn't going to take a piece of furniture after all because it didn't have a matching set, then when we pointed out the others didn't match, he came up with another reason. It was a large dresser and he simply didn't want to take it, despite it being maybe six month old and in perfect condition and solid wood. Because they were taking furniture from multiple areas of an apartment, boxes had to be moved so they had access to a large sofa. Those boxes were slightly in a path to the backroom. Instead of moving them ever so slightly, the rude guy pushes the bed mattress into the boxes and boxes crash, breaking items. I calmy said relax man, he said he was doing us the favor and I could move the boxes for him. I have a back injury and told him this prior. He accosted me and dropped F bombs left and right. He then became very rough with the rest of the furniture, banging into the door several times unnecessarily. This is all on video at this point. After hearing him bash me to his partner who seemingly ignored him, he would say things to me in passing, ever antagonizing the situation. As they finished and he tossed the form at me, I asked for his name. "It's on there." I told him it wasn't, he said "Man, I don't need to tell you my goddamn name." Outside I was locking the apartment up, and the other worker began making conversation with me. He was trying to calmly explain their position and we began to have a civilized dialogue, I was reaching my hand out to him to shake his when the rude guy storms out of the truck and says to "leave my f-cking guy alone, mind your own business." I said he began talking with me. He added some more explitives. And got in my face, completely unnecessarily. Again, all on video, I started it again after he got in my face (and told me to get out of his?). Then he said "don't you have a job? Go about your day, leave me the f-ck alone." I sometimes stutter, he began mocking me and told me to stfu. This is on video. Again, we donated thousands of dollars of furniture. Worst part: I called to speak with management. The owner calls me back and told me I was making the story up. He only heard a tiny portion of the beginning. Even upon him saying hello I could tell he wasn't interested in a legitimate complaint. Naturally, after being treated poorly by a worker, one would be upset by the owner calling the donator a liar. Ironically, he got upset because I used an F bomb. An extreme simpleton jerk, no wonder his employee is one, too. Habitat for Humanity referred us to them. They and the BBB are going to see these videos being he had no interest. read more

Also got some duds here too. Place is pretty big. Can get really picked through during move-in time though. Gotta get there before the vultures descend. A lot of people complaining over silly things. Yes this store has an array of odd-ball stuff. Doesn't all thrift stores have so much odd things!!? The prices aren't that bad. About a year and half ago I bought a wooden bookshelf. It did have a little bit of a smell, and I cleaned it well with some Murphy oil soap. No more smell! This store has a better selection of furniture than other Thrift stores. I'm planning to go back and find things for my living room. read more

What an utter dump. It smells as bad as it looks. The selection of items for sale appear to have been rescued from either buildings that were leveled by fires or from recycle bins. The owner offers a $5.00 per disc (CD) high end cleaner that not only ruined one but two very rare CDs of mine. The owner offered me 10 free CD cleaning, are you kidding me?? After you just ruined two 50.00 to 100.00 rare CDs!!!! The greatest irony of the entire experience here, is how pricey they are for absolute savaged trash. The furniture appears as if they were retrieved from various bar room brawls at the old Crazy Cat bar on rt 41. Never again!! AVOID!!!!! read more

GTV looks like smallish when you first walk in, but the first room opens to two more really huge rooms FULL of furniture. I could almost give 4 stars for how narrow the aisles are because it's a little hard to see things, but there's not much they can do about that. The main paths are actually very spacious. Also, they have bathrooms, and a fridge with soda and juice and water in case you're there a long time and shop up a thirst. It also seems that they'll buy your jink, a la Pawn Stars. This was the third place I looked for a china cabinet because I suddenly have a need for one, and I actually fell in love with the first one I saw here, but they had lots more for me to look at and decide against. The one I ended up buying was part of a dining room set that was priced altogether. Not only do I already have a table and chairs, but the ones that matched my china cabinet were pretty beat up looking. I found somebody to ask if they would split the set, he asked me how much I was offering, I said a number, he seemed to think about it for a minute and then accepted it. I probably could've gotten it for $25 less if I had thought about it more before making my offer, but this is a beautiful mid century piece in really terrific condition that will hopefully last until I die and there's an estate sale, so I'm not going to lose any sleep over that $25. They even deliver! I think that's pretty amazing for a thrift shop. To my neighborhood it was $40, plus another $10 for having to carry it up steps. Not mad about it, because this is a really substantial piece that would not have fit in my car and I don't know how I'd have gotten it up the steps. We scheduled a day when I paid for it, and the driver called a little before 9 on the day of to confirm, then again when they were on their way, then again when they were outside. It comes in two pieces, as these things do, and they got it up the stairs and into my apartment without damaging it, and once it was in place they fastened the two pieces together, Really painless for me. When I went to pay for my cabinet and schedule delivery there was a couple in front of me who were buying a set of Sears Merry Mushroom canisters (the same set I have in my kitchen, coincidentally!). The man pointed out to the woman behind the counter that one of them had a mark on the bottom that wasn't supposed to be there and she gave him a discount. On the bottom! Where no one will ever see it! To me, they appeared to be in terrific shape, not even dusty, but it's actually a pretty collectible style so it probably wasn't sitting there very long. So the bottom line is, this is a thrift store--you might not find what you need, but based on my experience I'd bet if they do have what you're looking for, it's likely to be in decent shape, and they'll take good care of you. The store used to be pretty good. I'm not sure what happened it seemed to have gone downhill. Things are priced wrong as well. I went to buy something that claimed it was a dollar and when I got up to the register the older woman who was ringing people out informed me otherwise (it was about $10 ) which is fine I still wanted it. I LOVE THIS STORE!!! Every time I go it's like a shopping adventure. They have everything. So I can treat the kids to a movie or a toy, and I can get myself anything I want lol. It's clean, it's organized -- by the standards of thrift stores, mind you -- and the staff is friendly. Can't say that the clothing section is particularly breathtaking, but for furniture and such? Will also come to your house to pick up furniture and other donations....for a good cause. I used to volunteer at this place long ago, but with my recent trip up found it has expanded greatly. They have a huge assortment of items. Not best for clothes as that selection was not real great (though not shabby either). Some prices were somewhat high on some pieces I looked at (considering wear and such). For a sense of scale, Thrift Village is a former bowling alley. This place is enormous, like an entire flea market unto itself. After plenty of visits and furniture purchases, I've never been disappointed. Very helpful staff. read more
