DISGUSTED! NEVER AGAIN.
My work colleague at Santander Carlton Park Leicester Hired a car on the 26/11/2015. On this day she drove the vehicle with me and 2 other colleagues to our Bletchly training centre in Milton Keynes. I was a back-seat passenger both ways.
The following day (27/11/2015) I had got in contact with the Leicester Branch at LE1 3QD. I had asked if I had accidentally put my keys in the thrifty car hire envelope with the car hire keys, as I had hired a car on the 25/11/2015 and left the envelope with Santander Carlton Park Reception, which Thrifty had problems collecting. They had said no. I asked if they could have a look in the car my colleague hired on the 26/11/2015, and was advised nothing has shown up and they would take a look. I was either contacted by, or contacted Thrifty again, and they said they had a thorough search and could not locate them.
Since then, my car had been kept at work from the 26/11/2015 until 07/01/2015 (42 days). This has caused me lots of inconvenience and stress. I have had to buy new flat keys, and have been without a car since then. I have since then bought a new car and have got this insured separately with road tax. You may simply ask why I didn't buy a new set of keys, but I shouldn't of had to, especially if somebody had searched properly and provided my keys back to me the following day.
42 days later, Thrifty calls my colleague on the 07/01/2015 and advise her they have found lost keys. My colleague messages me & states that they were found in the glove box. I am absolutely appalled and disgusted.
For one, I was in the back seats of the car and did not even enter the front area of the car, so I do not know how the keys got in the glove box.
Secondly, I am shocked that since the last 42 days, if the car was hired again since then and returned, that the people who clean the car and look for lost items/belonging did not find my keys.
Thirdly, that when Thrifty told me they 'searched thoroughly' they did not find my bulky keys. A thorough search does not take make apart from looking under seats, in car door storage areas, and in the glove box. I will not be using this service again and will discourage all from using it as clearly some people cannot do the most simplest of jobs, and are only good at lying.
Thrifty also did a bad job at collecting my own hire car keys from me as they were re-directed to Santander reception as first delivery had failed, and I had advised I would leave them there to be picked up. Thrifty however upon picking the car up and knocking at my home address whilst I was at work, were unable to take the car and charged a fee. If I had already stated the keys were at reception, it's simple logic that you'd go and get the keys first, then go to get the car (which I did not state was at work, and would mean that it was left to be collected at the place it was originally dropped off). read more
