I cannot say enough good things about Thrifty Car Rental at the North Platte airport! I was due to arrive on an 11 pm flight, so an employee called me with instructions on how to access the car keys through a lockbox. As it turns out, my flight was delayed until the following morning, so I called the car rental to let them know I'd be a day late. They were very accommodating and helpful. This location rocks! It's one of only 2 rental car companies that have a location at the North Platte airport (LBF). My flight was delayed over 1.5hrs coming from DEN and I was worried that the counter wouldn't be open because they are supposed to close at 10:30...which is supposed to accommodate the last flight in. Well, that was my flight, but it was delayed! I tried calling, but just got a voicemail so I arrived not knowing if I'd be getting my rental. Well, to my surprise and joy, Dennis was there waiting for me! I was the only reservation Thrifty had for that night and he came in specifically for me and was aware of the flight delay. I planned on renting from Chris at Thrifty/Hertz since I lost my vehicles in house fire and since my family has in the past and had reasonably good experiences. I was very disappointed in his behavior and demeanor as he won't rent a vehicle to you unless you stay in the North Platte area. His demeanor to me seemed very selfish and off-putting. However, I was glad that I looked elsewhere after my rude conversation with Chris and talked with Enterprise in town. Enterprise was a lot cheaper and had excellent customer service. The cost was $1,000 at Enterprise vs. $1,600 from Thrifty/Hertz for the same class of vehicle and rental term. Plus I wasn't tethered to the North Platte area. In the end I can thank Chris for eventually getting me to a much better car rental service than what he offers. read more

My car broke down on my way to North Platte to take the NCLEX test. After waiting for about an hour trying to get ahold of friends an old class mates that lived in North Platte I finally got a ride in by a friends mother and she took me to Thrifty car rental. Id already missed my deadline to take the test and had to get back home. I rented a car and all they had available was a more expensive SUV but the lady at the counter was courteous and friendly. I just called today to get a day extension on returning the car due to my family being up in Fort Collins still due to my father needing surgery, and not being released yet. They extended the return time an extra day and were quite cautious on the phone. Not the cheapest rental agency but overall a really good experience. read more

My car broke down on my way from Omaha to Denver to take my daughter to a critical doctor appointment. I was told by the manager that he was only renting cars at a weekly fee ($800.00) whether I needed it for a day or a week. He said it was due to Covid 19. The employee who brought up the car, had no gloves or no mask. I had to use my own disinfectant. He owns both car rentals in town, and I had no other choice as it was an emergency. I truly believe he was price gauging as he has admitted he is getting almost no business at this time. So very sad. read more

Bad Management Called to reserve a car from Hertz today. I drove 75 miles to LBF only to be informed by the manager that no cars were available. After explaining to her that I spoke to a gentleman earlier this morning and was assured cars were available. Her response was he didn't know about what cars were for rent. As a follow up to my original post, I had the opportunity to speak with the owner about the charges I took issue with. As a result, he did graciously refund me a portion of my costs. I also learned that while Thrifty locations that are company owned do not invoke the 4% charge card fee, those that are independently owned are allowed to (the Thrifty website does not indicate which are independently owned when you make reservations). I also learned that in order to receive unlimited miles at this location, you need to book with Hertz rather than Thrifty. read more

Well, it's 10:42pm, our flight landed a half an hour ago, and the woman at the car rental desk just locked up and left. It would have been nice to avoid walking to town, but she said she didn't want to stay long enough to help us. I guess that's why everyone says not to use thrifty and hertz. read more
