Right by the Albert Cuyp market, this is a nice place to get a little bit away from the crowd. With seating indoors and outdoors, you have an option of scenery. The inside is rather nice and chill for a burger joint and the out side area is rather small, but still nice to be out and enjoying the weather if it's nice. It was a beautiful day when my friend and I had lunch here. They open at noon, so just keep that in mind. The menu looks like a newspaper which was kind of fun, but without all the small print. It's very clear that they only do a few things...but I like those kind of places. All kinds of burgers, and some hot dogs are what most people probably get. The burger was a decent burger. Is it the best in Amsterdam? Not in my opinion. Would I go there again? Yes! I want to take my husband there now. I had the classic burger with bacon and cheese. Very good. But the one tiny piece of bacon was disappointing. At that point, you only get two bites with bacon in it. The burger was cooked well and had a better consistency than most I've had in A'dam. Not sure the whole excitement about this place. I'm a burger fanatic, especially being in NYC, I've taken down some of the best. One I heard of this place, I had very high and possibly unfair expectations. My burger wasn't cook to my liking and it was average at best. Wouldn't come back for a burger here. read more

i was very very pleasantly suprised with this place! I had walked by it a couple of times and thought... oh a new burger joint. Then we needed a place to take my partner's kids (3 hungry boys), my partner and I. I called to see if they take reservations, but they don't so we decided to take a risk and see if we could get seated on a thursday evening. We arrived about 7pm and shortly after that it got packed! We all got the classic burger, a burger with cheese, bacon and all the fixings. It was delicious. Good quality meat, well seasoned and nice bun. Only criticism is that the bun/beef patty ratio was not equal. The bun was quite bigger than the patty. We also got normal french fries and one with parmesan and truffle oil. They were delicious, especially the cheese fries. Next time I will try their milk shakes, hoping they are a proper thick milkshake and not the watered down ones you often find in the NL. But judging by everything else, i'll bet they make a good proper one. They also have heinz ketchup on every table, something you don't normally find. I believe one of the top chefs is the founder of this joint. There was something written about it in the menu (which btw, is written only in english) but i was too hungry and excited to eat so I didn't read it. Service was also quite good here. I'll be back to try more since they have a handful of other dishes such as hotdogs, salads and other types of hamburgers such as chicken and pull pork burgers. read more

I'll just get straight to it this time. no long story telling about my experience. so here it goes: This was a disappointment! After reading everyones raving reviews about this place I thought 'yes i have to try it' well I tried, I saw, and I was impressed. Maybe we came on a bad evening, where their whole staff was off their game? Maybe our taste buds were off? Maybe the expectations were to high but the fact remains it was a sad, yes not bad, but sad experience. It was my friends birthday so wanting to do something special for him as he was here from London visiting me I decided to take him to this place for a good hearty manly meal. The moment we sat down I already noticed that it must have been our waitress her first day. Poor girl was dropping things, forgot to up sell and if you asked her a question well she just couldn't really answer you. Since we all have had a first day at some point in our lives she was forgiven, I mean we all need to learn right. But the out came the burgers, these were dry. Yes dry! there was nothing special about them and I had taken the culinary Kranenborg, well I am sorry Mr Kranenborg but if this is your signature it is not a very good one. Even the chili cheese fries where tasteless. Next time it is back to the Butcher or Rotisserie if I want a burger. Reason for a 2 star? well 1 star just seems to harsh. read more

Nice little hipster burger joint in De Pijp. I got the classic beef thriller, herb fries, and a large vanilla milkshake. Boyfriend got the classic hot dog, regular fries and a large strawberry milkshake. Everything was great. Servers were nice. Lunch for two people and it was just under €30. read more

Best burger EVER! I was in Amsterdam for 3 days and ate there 2 times. Everything was so good: the bread, the meat, the cheese, the pickles, EVERYTHING! If I ever go back to Amsterdam, I will definitively eat here again. read more

Execellent Burgers. Beef patty was rich in flavor and tender. Truffle Fries are a definite must get.

While the place itself is at a nice location, staff is friendly- the burgers though need to step up their game a notch. Pijp has a high competition for quality burgers in this area and Thrill Grill might be on the list for "burgers " tag, but not at its top... Yet? read more

French fries the way I like 'em : skins on, thin but not overly long, in a generous portion and well crispy!! No thick Flemish style frites here. DELICIOUS!! My son devoured his classic "thriller" and declared it flavorful while I took one look at the thick piece of salmon on mine and took off the bun! The fish was perfect, tender and moist and the butter lettuce soft and fresh. Only nit picking criticism - could have had more sauce as the fillet was not small. Our server was nice but not the sharpest knife in the drawer. read more

Visited Thrill Grill last weekend on a date. We sat outside to embrace the final stages of the weekend melancholy and lazy hustle-bustle of Gerard Douplein. I made myself comfortable under a heater, crossed my legs and whipped open the newspaper-style menu. The Peruvian Beef Thriller caught my eye and without much consideration landed the lead role in the upcoming feast. Umami Fries to split - obviously for the black garlic mayonnaise. From the cocktail menu - a Cuba Libre to sharpen the tongue and loosen the lips. A warning from the waitress meant we would be waiting a while for the food. The restaurant was quite busy but conversation was flowing. My date went for a bourbon hot chocolate. Food arrived shortly. The burger was stacked well with an avocado base. The Aji Amarillo mayo danced through the front of my mouth and the wasabi brought the heat to the back - Business up the front, party down the back. The bun was fresh. Crunchy on the outside soft and chewy on the inside. Recently, burger shops seem to be reverting back to regular buns and away from the trendy brioche that formerly dominated the scene. Fries were underwhelming, limp and oily - we didn't finish. Black garlic left a lot to be desired, maybe it was to do with the fries. We stayed until closing and were the last to leave. The staff stayed open a little longer as not to spoil the our atmosphere on the terrace. Nice touch! The food was good but you can only enjoy the food as much as the atmosphere lets you. 5/5 - perfect for a relaxed evening! Staff were great, cocktail menu was extensive, beef was dee-lish, fries were so so. Thrill Grill is on the edge of the top tier of beef burgers in Amsterdam - not quite as good as Burgerlijk, Lombardos or Beef Chief. But still TG wins over all else for the atmosphere! read more

We quite like this place relative to other Dutch restaurants. The service is always quite good, the burgers are nice, and they have a favorite beer of mine: Anchor Steam (albeit absurdly overpriced compared to its cost in San Francisco). read more

We went to Thrill Grill the other night and there weren't any tables available outside, but we did get a seat at the table looking out the front window. We loved the parmesan fries! We thought the burger was mediocre in that it was unremarkable. The beef didn't have any flavor and the bun was dry; I prefer a buttery roll. And it was busy that night, so it was hard to get quick service. It had a good vibe, so I recommend it for beers and Parmesan fries. read more
