Gym wasn't bad but was too small for the amount of people at 4-6pm every day. Main complaint was when I cancelled my membership I was told by the front desk it was done. A year later I got an email informing me I was being sent to collections due to a $100 unpaid bill. This was the first email I received from Thrive since I cancelled my membership, no late notice was provided. As it turned out, my membership wasn't cancelled only paused. I kept getting charged. The issue was resolved by management once it was discovered my signature was forged on the documents that paused (not cancelled) my account. That being said, I had to explain to my Security Manager why I was being sent to collections and my credit score tanked 100 points while in the home buying process. Overall bad experience, they say military friendly just to get you in the door. read more

I used to come here all the time and loved it but honestly I won't be returning. During the government shutdown in March I was still being charged every month and I was never able to get ahold of someone to cancel my membership. They even charged the annual fee which is about $70 and that was during the government shutdown too. The gym itself is really small and if you're lifting weights good luck cause there's definitely not enough to go around plus there's only one stair master. The other one is a prototype that they're testing out. I will say the staff is friendly and the kids area is convenient if you have children but the gym itself isn't worth it. read more

I am kind of bummed. The child watch isn't what it used to be, they raised prices and cut hours to make them less convenient possibly so people wouldn't use it as much. The machines need work/updating and there is often an out of order sign on something. Ultimately after roughly 6 years and more than a thousand visits I made the decision to cancel my membership. I still like many of the staff and the environment but I just can't justify it anymore. It seems less busy than it used to. My wife and I joined Thrive last year after moving from Seattle and have been going a few days a week ever since. Great gym. I train with Kevin, who has done a phenomenal job whipping me into shape. The atmosphere is very fun - everyone is friendly, particularly the staff. They are highly committed to capital improvements. Well I love working out and I love Jesus. It is not often that those two come together in one place! The equipment is clean the trainers are awesome and the staff is delightful. I've been a member of 24hr fitness since I was 12. I had high expectations for any gym in Oak Harbor. This gym was the only one that met my expectations. Other gyms are not as welcoming and extremely over rated. Thrive fitness is a clean and family friendly gym. And the best part is they have on sight babysitting. The sitters are trained and certified unlike other gyms that throw the kids in a room and let them run a muck. They actually teach kids about yoga and read to them. read more

The gym is great! The staff is for the most part great. Except, one childcare employe. She will make up excuses, raise her voice & talk at you. She does not like watching babies that do not meet her specific idea of milestones, outside of the 6month requirement. Although the gyms are being temporarily closed because of Covid, I wanted to take the time to write a review for Thrive Fitness. I have been going to Thrive for a few months and I have been very happy with everything they offer. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The gym itself is very clean and well equipped. The child watch area is perfect for even babies and a little older kids. I was so amazed at how involved the staff would get with taking care of the kids. They actually played with them and were very nice and helpful. I've never felt so comfortable leaving my toddler like I did here. I will miss going to the gym and getting my workout in but I am excited to look forward to when things are back to normal. My husband and I had been members of Thrive for over 15 years. We have always paid for the upcoming year's membership in advance. Last April I broke my arm and due to the severity of the break wasn't able to finish out the year. When I requested a refund for the unused portion of our membership they refused. We had planned on returning to the gym once the break was fully healed but due to the difficulty we've had with this situation and the owner's refusal to issue a refund for the unused portion of our membership we will no longer be supporting this business. read more

Great classes offered many hours throughout the day. Great location. Great class instructors. The staff is on the younger side and while they were friendly when I signed up for the gym the young man at the front, Cory, didn't offer me a tour or show me where the bathrooms were. They also have treadmills that don't allow you to type in the speed you want, they are only offered by intervals or you have to increase speed one at a time. For example if I wanted to walk at 3.5 mph for a warm up then run at 5 mph, I would have to keep hitting the button to go up .1 mph until I reached 5mph. Not convenient for intervals. read more

I'm surprised I'm the first reviewer! But great place. Much more professional than the other local gyms. Clean, nicely designed and good working machines! Tvs on all the treadmills and elipticals downstairs... And a couple big lcds upstairs in the weight area. They have a small couch area for chatting, a smoothie bar, and even some tanning beds. They also have many classes and even a childcare area that is in another room so you don't even know they're there when you're working out. The locker rooms (the men's one at least) are clean with 3 showers, a sauna, and sinks and toilets. They have maybe 50 or so lockers, which you'll need to bring your own lock for. I've heard some comments that the locker room is too small in the locker area, but really I've not had any issues especially considering that overall the whole place is quite a compact gym but doesn't seem cramped at all! And all for about $27 per month. The staff is friendly and you're bound to bump into one of your local friends there while working out. The Thrive chain of gyms is based on community and a "Christ centered" business, but I've never felt as though they are pushing any beliefs on anyone. I've yet to actually try their smoothies, but they do have many flavors for sale. They also have some other workout apparel, sports drinks and protien products available too. ...and yes, there does happen to be a drive-through Starbucks 15 feet away. read more

Their staff somewhat changes regularly, but every staff member is very friendly and willing to assist anyone with anything. The equipment is good and up-to-date. Often, machines are "out of order," but are fixed in a timely manner. I suggest taking classes and meet with one of their awesome trainers to change the routine up a bit. This is a nice little gym. The equipment is well taken care of and fairly new ... some of the cardio machines even have tiny TVs attached that you can plug your headphones into and get decent cable channels. I also like how it's organized, with the kids area tucked away (I never heard screaming, which I appreciate early in the morning), an nice area for classes, all the cardio machines on the first floor and weights on the second. The locker rooms never stink or appear unkempt and the staff is very friendly. I miss being a member, and when I can get a gym membership again I will go back to this gym. read more

My family are new to Oak Harbor. I am in my mid 50's, mother of 5 children ( most in college now). My daughter talked me into getting both of us enrolled in your classes last month. I have never taken a Yoga Class, Zumba Class, or Mixedfitt Class in my life and can honestly say I have never felt more energized and coordinated than ever before! Not to mention that I get to spend this time having fun with my 17 year old daughter, and have lost 3 lbs in this time! Wow! I only wish I had done this sooner but better late than never! I have enjoyed working out at Thrive for over a year now. The staff is welcoming, friendly and helpful. There is plenty of equipment to avoid having to wait. But for a 5 star review, the facilities would have to be cleaner. There is pink mold on the shower curtains and in the drinking fountain, and the machines and window sills are full of dust. Although Thrive is not a posh athletic club, I still want to feel pampered as a member. I appreciate they provide shower towels, but please give me a fluffy one that isn't falling apart. A few no-cost tweaks to the cleaning routine would make a huge difference. That said, Thrive does offer a great service at an affordable price. Recommended! read more

Most are probably depressed, unhappy in their daily lives, probably on prescription drugs, and energy drinks to make it through the day. They could care less about your wellbeing. I have nothing bad to say about this gym. All of the workers are generally friendly and equipment is clean. They do need to update or get maintenance on TVs on many machines but I don't watch those so it doesn't matter to me. They have a lot of variety to offer and showers. read more

I joined Thrive because it was the cheapest in town. I now regret my cheapness. Thrive is trying to fit to many fitness disciplines in one small building (cross fit, weights, classes, etc). The results are one cable machine, one power rack, one set of dumbbells with a few benches packed in a small corner, one lay pull down, etc. I usually come in at 0400 and it is empty. I would hate to see this place during peak hours! Additionally, the locker rooms are small and the showers look like they are rarely cleaned. Pro's are that there are a lot of cardio machines and it is open 24 hours. read more

I really wanted to sing the praises of this place- the in house staff as a whole are great, the facility is small but well managed and clean and the day care staff is great. My issue came with the management. I'm active duty military and after 5 years of being here almost every day, and referring almost a dozen members, it was time to move, so i canceled my membership...or so i thought. The guy at the counter was new and apparently didn't process it correctly. He assured me it was set to expire at the end of the month so i said my goodbyes and went on my way.... until i notice a strange auto debit charge on my account 8 months later and realize i was still being billed- one transaction at a weird date each month for the last 8 months. My fault for not catching it sooner but when i emailed management all i got from them was a "wow, that's unfortunate. We'll have to consider what our options are here" and then they ghosted me. Refuse to reply to email and I'm 5 states away so it's not like I'm going to drive 1,300 miles back to give them a piece of my mind. Military beware for sure. The great staff here is better off going over to North End- you're wasted on this place. read more

Horrible in every possible way! This place is a dump! They do absolutely nothing to keep it clean, sanitary or hygienic! The rotten towels to wipe the machinery down are dripping in gooey sweat and Chemicals. The staff walks right by them and does not provide clean towels ever! In the past couple of months they have removed approximately 30% of the equipment and better than half of the equipment that is left is broken non-functioning, They allow people to sit on the few pieces of equipment that are left while they are text messaging or talking on the phone, no enforcement is made whatsoever and meanwhile the rest of us just wait and wait and wait in hopes of using the machine. The sinks in the restroom are filled with hair and goo, The employees walk right by this too and don't even grab a rag to tidy things up. The wastepaper basket in the restroom yesterday was completely overflowing with dirty paper towels, once again I saw one of the staff come into use the restroom and she did nothing about it. The list goes on and on and on but to summarize it, you're better off finding another gym. Not clean, not safe, not worth it!! The newer owners have let the place go over the past couple of years something horrible. read more

Last Thursday, my son(2yrs old as of 11/2415), was kicked out by one of their staff members for throwing blocks. Mind you the other child was throwing them back. Both children are very young and still learning how to express themselves and what behavior is tolerable or not. Regardless of what child started it, we were aggressively kicked out from the gym. When I was approached by the staff member, Serloyd, he asked, "is your child the one in the blue shirt"? I said, "yes", He responds, "come with me, I need to show you this". He brings me in the management office to show me the video in the Kids Room of the children throwing blocks. My response, "Wow! I am so sorry"! He attacks and threatens with, "I want him out now, and we will see how else management wants to handle this". I go to get my child and he is wedged under the slide crying uncontrollably. I still don't know what happened for him to be crying like that. I was told that he didn't start crying until I walked in, which I could see him through the class and he was already crying and then another attendant said both kids were crying. Since my child was kicked out of the gym we cancelled our membership. I was then told I couldn't be reimbursed for the month since we voluntarily terminated our membership. Well, I can't exactly workout if my child is not welcome. Management then feels no remorse for how my son and I were treated. I have gone in circles with them since. They said that his how Serloyd is, very direct and straightforward. Not the job then for someone who feels mistreating members is okay, but when he is supported by the management I don't foresee that behavior changing. There have been other reports of Serloyd yelling at the kids or poorly handling situations but yet he is still authorized in the Kids Room, even if it is to allow the KR attendant a break. Highly do not recommend this facility. Not the family facility I thought it once was. read more

One of the first things I do when moving to a new area is find a new gym "home". As soon as I tried out Thrive, I had to look no further. It is a clean facility with staff who actually get to know their members. It's wonderful to be greeted with a smile when I walk in the door. The group fitness classes are top notch and provide a little bit of something for everyone. If you are up for a fun challenge, try out Eat The Frog training! This place is a run down joke.... every piece of cardio and weight equipment has something wrong with it. Even the simplest of things to fix never get done here, even though they charge each member a yearly maintenance fee. And staff, instead of refilling toilet paper etc. they sit in the locker rooms texting instead of working. read more
