I am not a "gym rat". I do not like going to gyms. However, I don't mind going to Planet Fitness. Unlike every gym I've visited, Planet Fitness has massage chairs, hydrotherapy beds and chairs, tanning booths, CLEAN bathrooms, lots of treadmills, stair climbers, and weight machines. There are NO free weights, so if that's your thing you won't like Planet Fitness. I also like that there are tv screens covering the wall in front of the treadmills, stationary bikes, rowers, and a few other machines. If you want to exercise but you aren't into the gym vibe, Planet Fitness is the place to go. read more

Site is direly lacking in any kind of repair and maintenance of machines. Example is the (heavily used and very popular) Pec Fly machine. It has been out of order for over a month. I pointed this out to front desk personnel a couple weeks ago and they stated that aware of the problem but had no idea when would be resolved. They indicated that there currently is no one in this part of the country to make the much needed maintenance and repair of machines at multiple Planet Fitness sites. It is my opinion that Planet Fitness needs to do what is necessary to resolve this concern so that all machines are fully operational. It's getting very frustrating to continuously see the same broken machines. When I brought this up at front desk again this morning they stated that several machines at the Oak Harbor are in need of repair. read more

Oak Harbor, WA Planet Fitness poorly managed. Shower area pink scumb on shower floors & walls; toilet areas poorly maintained cleanliness; one sink works; far mirror always flashing. Staff notified multiple times and response is that Darren (GM) is aware. O'Hana the owners apparently don't care to maintain cleanliness. Frequently, handsoaps dispensers not kept full, empty. If you, a member complain too much, staff will gossip about the member and cause trouble, and even call police on the members who complain. Darren (GM) not able to keep steady staff, a lot of terminations. Outside garbage is always overflowing. Darren (GM) very rude, verbal hostility and not always honest but will accuse member falsely based on hearsay. This is the worst Planet Fitness management and young staff most not good. Anna is excellent! And another long term day shift male staff whose been there awhile. The rest of the young staff very problematic, they sit around a lot gossip about members and cause trouble. Darren needs to be replaced. He's never there to talk about problems. Watch out! Go somewhere else. There are other gyms in town that are good. read more

Capri at the front desk was so rude and never let me speak. on top of that, they turned the lights off 15 min before closing??

I typically leave the gym an hour before close but ended up going later in the day than usual. The staff turned the lights off inside 20 minutes before closing. It seems dangerous to workout in the dark and is clearly a way to try and get everyone out early. if the hours say till ten then they shouldn't turn lights off before ten. read more

She thinks she's always in the right ... no bad energy wanted at a gym but when she's here it's terrible. I've seen her be so rude to so many members :( She brings nothing to the table here. Gym is good has everything it needs in order to get a good workout. Yes it can be a little overcrowded at times but that's expected. Only thing I ask is. does the music have to be blaring at 4:30 AM? I'm trying to work out and I like to listen to audible's or even my own music but how can I do that if the music in the gym is so loud and I can't even hear my own music. The guys always seem friendly when I walk in. Maybe it's because I'm a girl. The girls however don't even make eye contact or say hello. It seems to be one group of girls who are particularly the same race. Maybe I look intimidating to them? I know I'm not the only one who has had this kind of experience. I have never seen a gym this clean. My main gym doesn't have a have a facility in some places I travel, but there always seems to be a PF around so I sIgned up for the black card and the Oak Harbor location is just next level when it comes to cleanliness. Took off the 1 Star because there isn't a full weight room, which is normal for PF I guess but still kind of sucks. I do like having a PF membership to use when I'm not at home and again, this particular location stands out from other PF's I've seen so far. read more

Just crazy how one ridiculous review can bring the rating down. Pay no attention people. This place rocks. I've been going to gyms for decades and this is a very good facility. Why? New equipment. Latest equipment. TRX. Ropes. Circuit. Interval training. You name it. Everything. Yes, the front desk is a bit lacking. Not all friendly. Not all helpful. Maybe it will get better. I don't care. I come in and do my thing and leave. Don't need to be coddled. But customer service is a huge priority these days so I'm expecting that part to change. One thing I do want to note is the broken lie-flat hydromassage table. I'm curious to see how long it will take to get repaired. This can be the downside to gyms. Laxity in repairs. read more

***UPDATE*** After connecting with Planet Fitness's Social Team, this problem was quickly resolved and PF refunded ALL of the money including my legitimate payments as a member. Thank you for making it right! I have updated my rating to 4 stars because overall this gym was clean and user-friendly, and PF management was very good about fixing this issue. read more

Very clean facility. I love the use of the chairs, light therapy, etc. I am really annoyed that when we signed up, no one mentioned that there will not be a trainer for two weeks... That info should have been mentioned during our tour. "We have an amazing trainer, but unfortunately, she's out for 2 weeks!" -would have been a nice way to say it.. I still would have signed up, but I was sad to learn that she wasn't around the next day when I came in to make an appointment to have help with a workout routine. read more

I thought it was the best gym I had ever been in until my membership was terminated because a staff person felt "uncomfortable with me in the gym". This from a place that claims to be non-judgmental. Friendly staff? I think I offended them by saying "Good morning". The mask requirement is very good, however there was no attempt to haver members keep the mask over their noses. read more

I've been a gym rat forever, played college and NFL football. planet fitness has a great business model that really works well for active folks that just want to get a good workout in. They are clean and lean for the person that doesn't need pools, dance classes, or free weights. get it done and get out. read more

Clean facility with open floor plan & great lighting... I've tried multiple gyms in oak harbor & this PF is by far my favorite!

Nice clean place to workout. Staff is sometimes a little lacking. I asked for a tanning bed to be set to 5 minutes out of 9 (I'm white y'all and can't go over that) and they set it for the full time! Pay attention to what you are doing, people can seriously hurt. I nursed my sunburn for the better part of 4-5 days. read more

This gym has always been wonderfu and I've always liked going there until today when an employee did not respect their policy of no judgement. I like to work out and be left alone. My daughter and I went in to check out the facility before deciding to join and what level of membership we wanted. The guy at the desk told me I looked lost and that we couldn't workout there without a membership. He then dismissed us. I went up to the counter and explained that we had never been in and wanted to check things out. He had us sign an agreement to not be "jerks" and then away we went to workout. No tour or discussion about signing up. He was just so inconvenienced by us that we debated on joining. I travel, so for me it's convenient. I've been a member in Oak Harbor for 1 week. The front desk staff aren't very smart, in fact it makes you hesitate to give them your financial information for the membership. I don't see many employees so I think they may hang around in the little office area off of the desk. I have no idea how some of the machines operate but when asked the lone employee said he couldn't leave the desk unattended. I get that but he didn't call anyone else. Nice, clean place.
