I've come to Ann Arbor endocrinology for 3 years without many issues. (Except my doctor giving me a…read morehard time about weight after I started a med which made me gain weight). My big problem is how inefficient they are up front. I've tried to get them to fill out a prior authorization on my Dexcom since April 1st. Sent from the pharmacy as directed, no response. Called them, for an entire week + they claimed they never got any faxes. I had my pharmacy fax them right before I called even, and nothing. Asked if there was any other way, could I bring in a pre-auth form in person? My pharmacy said they could call or email, and Ann Arbor endocrinology refused. Asked if their fax machine was broken, honestly. Finally, on April 9th according to my insurance they submitted the prior authorization, but it was incomplete. I've since had to wait over the weekends, run out of my supplies long ago, and dealing with the repercussions of not having a CGM after wearing one for two years. I woke up with a BG of 36 (long term this causes brain damage) the other morning, and feel like their medical negligence is now poorly affecting my daily health and ability to properly manage my type one diabetes. How hard is it to fill out paperwork?! Called this morning to follow up because it still had not been sent. Got the runaround (oh it typically takes 72 hours). I drove to the office today. Was told by the office that she received it on Friday, and she might have time to get to it today, Monday. I told them I'd wait in office because until it's sent as it's something I've been trying to get from them (even though I know they have a lunch hour coming up) because this is something I NEED and I've been doing all I can since my insurance changed on the 1st. It's now the 22nd, and I'm beginning to think this is medical negligence. Fingers crossed the one she sent today was complete, this time. When I told her the last one was incomplete she had nothing but excuses (oh we weren't informed it was incomplete) yeah apparently that's now my job. They've not once been apologetic for their complete lack of participation in helping me get what I need. Glad to be switching offices I'm convinced the girls up front do nothing but gossip (sure they'll have a lot to say about me). Learn to do your job, it's affecting people's lives when you don't. Thanks.

I knew I had a complex situation, but regular doctors have missed diagnoses and poisoned me with…read moredrugs. So I continually try to find alternative help. The initial email I received sounded promising but the help stopped there. My initial practitioner was Amanda. Frankly, she was not very bright. She made no queries as to what I was already taking, went entirely on the results of the blood test they did, basically treating the test results instead of me. As is the norm in allopathic medicine, the entire reason why I sought a different kind of help. She even wrote down the opposite of something I said, which was that the lactate form of magnesium I was taking appeared to be CAUSING my RLS, because when I started on a different form it was obvious what the connection was. But -- that was either not understood at all or was simply ignored, because what she wrote down was that it was helping. !!!!! How can you treat someone when you can't even get a simple report like this recorded correctly? Even though I had no improvement in symptoms and actually continued to decline, I just got the "same old same old" every session, with more and more being added based on my "progression" through the clipboard of "this is what you do for this test result." Balderdash, blah-blah, no IQ evident, just rules following. What about what I was already taking? Why was that not investigated for efficacy or negative effects? 35 pills a day already, and we ignore that? I was referred to Dr Schmidt himself, who also did absolutely nothing to help -- kept testing this and that supplement remotely, nopity-nope-nope. I decided to eat the $200 "exit fee" because it was cheaper than continuing to pay for something that CLEARLY was focused on a program that operates on what test results are for that "most wonderful test" that they use as a baseline. Don't bother wasting your money.
