It's a family-owned private gym and athletic training studio that recently went through a remodel and added more equipment--which was awesome to see. I did a drop-in session, but they also offer monthly memberships, one-on-one training, group training, and nutrition planning. During my visit, I got the chance to talk with two of the trainers. They were incredibly knowledgeable--not just about fitness and training, but also about proper nutrition and hormone health. That kind of insight is exactly what I look for in a gym and in a trainer. Nutrition and hormonal balance are key to real lifestyle changes. It's not always about pushing heavy weights--it's about finding the right balance. I really appreciated the energy at PDX Muscle. The gym is clean, welcoming, and there are no cliques. Everyone was friendly, and you can tell the owners and staff genuinely know what they're doing. I got a personal trainer. With two little ones, I decided it's time I get healthier. But, what do I know about fitness?! From day 1 - I was put at ease by Nick. He met with me, talked to me about my goals and discussed what sort of options were available to me. He never once made me feel like it was a hard sell - more, he was here to answer my questions and encourage me. Most importantly, he assured me that this wasn't going to be something that was going to drive me away. The team was going to work with me at my pace. I decided I'd go three mornings a week - totally crazy, right?! Now, I work with Vince three early mornings a week. Vince is awesome! He's fun to work with, super knowledgeable - always taking the time to explain things to me. And, most importantly, he's encouraging. I'm nowhere NEAR as advanced as some of the people I see, but Vince makes me feel like I have a place there. Just a few months ago, I would have NEVER thought you'd EVER find me in a gym. Eveyone else is telling me, too, and I've gone down at least 4 sizes. Trisha is really key in making this work. She's encouraging, she's sweet, and she's not a mean drill seargent, but you will want to do what she says, even though these workouts are really hard. And it's more than the workouts, you also track your food and turn it in every week, and do stuff to get to the root of what you need in order to make changes, you all work together. Don't worry, this is not about you being good or bad...it's just about helping you get where you want to be, and you'll get out what you put into it - you might even find yourself putting more into it than you thought you would! Also, calling this place a "gym" feels misleading. It's basically small sauna boxes where you try to exercise in extreme heat. Instead of feeling like a good workout, it felt uncomfortable and difficult to even breathe while trying to move. It's not motivating at all. The heat is so intense that it even fries your hair if you're not careful. Overall, I would not recommend this place to anyone looking for a real gym or a positive fitness environment.

Cons: The studio and individual pods were frequently unclean, with hair and dust visible. The shower was more often dirty than clean. Most importantly, two critical contract terms were never disclosed at sign-up. First, you cannot cancel before completing five months, yet staff told me cancellation was possible at any time. Second, after one year and nine months of membership, when I submitted a cancellation request with a doctor's recommendation, I was informed that two additional months of payment are required regardless of whether you continue attending. Regarding the workout system itself: the videos offer three difficulty levels and often include form explanations, which is a plus. However, in roughly half the cases the instructor's verbal cues contradict what they are actually doing on screen. For example, instructions about parallel hips, spinal alignment, or proper squat depth are frequently ignored by the demonstrators themselves. Someone following visually without a background in yoga or fitness training would easily pick up incorrect form without realizing it. Poor alignment can ultimately cause more harm than the exercise does good.

My clothes started fitting better and my body got a lot less flabby because of the muscle I was building. Dustin is super supportive and pushes you hard to do your best.
