3 months ago, I challenged myself to do something totally crazy - attempt something no one who knows me would expect - something that, quite frankly, seemed scary to me. I got a personal trainer. With two little ones, I decided it's time I get healthier. But, what do I know about fitness?! From day 1 - I was put at ease by Nick. He met with me, talked to me about my goals and discussed what sort of options were available to me. He never once made me feel like it was a hard sell - more, he was here to answer my questions and encourage me. Most importantly, he assured me that this wasn't going to be something that was going to drive me away. The team was going to work with me at my pace. I decided I'd go three mornings a week - totally crazy, right?! Now, I work with Vince three early mornings a week. Vince is awesome! He's fun to work with, super knowledgeable - always taking the time to explain things to me. And, most importantly, he's encouraging. TTP fitness has been such an amazing experience from day 1. I didn't know what to expect going into my consultation, but I knew immediately that both Turk and Ryan knew their stuff and could help me reach my goals. They were funny and not intimidating at all. I cannot say enough good things about TTP as a whole and of the trainers that I have been able to work with over the years. I originally began working with TTP before the pandemic, and though a lot has changed since then, TTP has only grown in its dedication to their clients. I have had the pleasure of working with two trainers at TTP, Ryan and Susy. Ryan is incredibly passionate and dedicated to his clients, you can tell he found his calling in this work. He creates a space for his client's to learn why they are doing certain exercises, in addition to the how to do them correctly. I am a person with a fickle body, and having someone know and understand your weaknesses and work with them to heal is an amazing opportunity. There is no pressure to go to a point of injuring yourself for one last rep, it is staying within the bounds of your needs while propelling you forward. He is absolutely the best and if you can afford him, I could not recommend him highly enough. Susy is also amazing. She is a newer trainer with TTP, and I got to spend the better part of last year working with her as my personal trainer. She always keeps a positive and encouraging energy as she pushes her clients forward. She is consistent with checking back in on client goals and the progress towards meeting those goals. She also really emphasizes the importance of listening to your body (again fickle physical form here) so that you do not injure yourself while working towards meeting your goals. She is excellent with breaking down how to get from where you are at to where you want to be, in manageable chunks, whether your goals are connected to weight training, powerlifting, endurance, or just an overall sense of health/fitness. I started with Turk 6 weeks ago and lost 3% body fat in the first month! Turk is the best trainer I've ever had and the best part is training only 3 times per week for only 30 mins each session. To preface this, I am 35, have had 3 back surgeries for herniated discs, and have never worked out in any serious way in my life. I'd made attempts at going to the gym here or there, but always felt intimidated at not really knowing proper form, technique, or strategy to lose weight and get toned. I came to Turk at a time where I had about 10 percent normal range of motion, had been idle for nearly 3 months post op and really just felt crappy. I knew I needed help with all aspects of my health and interviewed about a dozen trainers explaining my situation. Turk stood head and shoulders above the rest. Right away I could tell this was the guy that was going to get me where I needed to be. He had extensive experience with post op recovery and was serious about helping me meet my goals. Step one was to measure my body fat and set up my nutrition. He took several hours explaining aspects of nutrition that had never been presented to me. He set strict goals for how many grams of protein, carbs, and fat I cold have per day, along with when to eat, how frequently and how to journal it all so we could review it. Step two was to setup an excerise regime including cardio plus weight training and stretching daily. Each week I would spend a hour and a half with him stretching and another hour and half weight lifting. At each step of the way he explains what the excerise is, what muscles it targets, and how to perform it correctly. He's really motivating! I'm now one month into my program with Turk and I have full range of motion, gained 7 lbs of lean muscle, lost 3 lbs total and feel the best I have in my life. I'm actually looking toned and cannot wait to work with him in the coming months! I feel really blessed that I found someone so knowledgeable, easy to work with, and motivated to help me. Make no doubt about it, Turk is hands down the best personal trainer you'll find. Most personal trainers these days have no knowledge whatsoever about what they're talking about. On top of it half the trainers I see sit around texting on their phone while they're supposed to be training you. Turk is the opposite! There's a sign on the outside of the building that says "we will change your life" and when I first saw it I was skeptical to say the least. I've worked with personal trainers at local gyms before before but it always felt like I was more just a number to them. Turk and TTP Fitness are different. Turk is a personal trainer first who also has a gym. He takes the time to get to know you, understand what your objectives are and works with you towards those goals, both in the gym and outside. If you're looking to transform yourself, look no further. I signed up with the intention of learning proper form, learning proper nutrition, and building some solid habits that I could maintain, including but not limited to getting up early and hitting the weights. All of my goals were met. Went in with a 4 pack, and 12-3/4" biceps, and left with a sixpack and 13" biceps as well as slightly bigger everything else. The improvements would have been far more substantial granted if I would've stuck around a long time, and I was only around for a month or so. Before meeting Turk I was literally in "fuck it" mode for 10 years. I would exercise intermittently and diet(ish) here and there but pretty much ate whatever I wanted and my body was proof of that. I finally reached a point where I knew I needed help. That's when I met Turk. I was totally intimidated. I have a huge goal. I wanted to lose 110 lbs. Turk said we could do that. He said it would take awhile but we could do it. Within minutes of meeting him I knew I could trust him and I knew he was the trainer for me. I also knew that I was going to stick with this and actually meet this goal. Turk set me up with a nutrition plan that makes sense and is sustainable. I'm not starving. At all. Jaylen is one of the best and most experienced trainers I've ever worked with. He is extremely knowledgeable in all aspects of fitness. He provides an all encompassing game plan for losing body fat and for gaining lean muscle. We had an initial consultation to discuss my goals and he outlined what I needed to do to achieve those goals (including nutrition plan, a cardio plan and a strength training plan). Not only does he help with the strength training, he checks in everyday to see how my nutrition plan and cardio are going and provides insights for better choices or making tweaks. I started with Turk about 5 months. When I began I wasn't really sure if I need a trainer and if I was going to actually get one. I'm a 25 year old male who would lift quite a bit in college. I was active playing different sports very frequently. As I began working, I let myself slip (adding about 20 pds) that wasn't as easy as it used to be to shred off. I'm pretty close to reaching the goal that I wanted. The reason I picked Turk is because he gives me the information I need straight to my face...he doesn't have time for nonsense or excuses. After I started with him I've made some significant progress (even with some cheat days). Here are the biggest things I learned from Turk: 1) i thought I knew how to lift..I really knew nothing. There is so much to understand from his training methods that I still learn new things everyday. When I lifted in college I would be a typical college kid who would just push himself to the extent of his body. The issue with this kind of training is that you won't last. You body will deteriorate over time and you will be more prone to serious injuries. Turk teaches you to keep the same level of intensity with the proper technique. 2) he provided a vast amount of knowledge regarding nutrition. This is very key to understand as no one has your individual body completely figures out and you need to understand how to maintain it and how it functions in different scenarios. Its not just for losing weight... Its how you live a healthy lifestyle with your current situation. 3) final and probably most important, he teaches you mental focus.
