This post will be about the boarding since the classes were held at K9Cle, but are not K9Cle staff. Boarding is $40 a night, which is a great price for the reasons I state below. I left my fur baby, Remy here from a Thursday to a Sunday night. I am extremely picky about the care she receives and am just so happy to have found K9 Cle since they have passed all my tests: 1. Usability. The location is prime- near the water in the flats. Very accessible and a large parking lot. Virtually, they are also very available. Their website is super easy to use, saves pets' info and can be used to book, change and update a pets boarding stay. There are also other things that can be booked online like dog cabs, poop cleanups, day care, classes, baths, etc. 2. People friendliness. Too often animal people are not people people and it is hard to do business or relate to them! However, I have not had any issues in this area. Everyone is easy to talk to, attentive, helpful, great on the phone and polite. 3. Care. Remy, my dog, loves coming here. She is very shy and also 100% deaf, but K9 does great with her. I like that they do not treat her like a liability for being a rescue, a pitbull and deaf. They understand her special needs and allow her to socialize with dogs that are the right fit for her. They also do not have breed restrictions, which demonstrates their proactive care-based approach, rather than adopting faulty traditional stereotypes. 4. Gut feeling. I cannot place my finger on it, but I know K9 does a good job past these categories. Maybe it is the cool dance hall vibe they have for the dogs (with a disco ball!), maybe it's the fact that the dogs sleep in 'dog cottages' or maybe it's the realness of the employees. Last time when we picked up Rems, she was snuggling the employee, Larry, who was waiting for us. She just seemed so happy with him, which is not always the case with other people. He told us how well behaved she was and that they even went on a field trip (they have a doggy van that they use to take dogs for rides around the city), which just shows that K9 staff go the extra mile and treat our dogs like their own. They are creative and caring, which helps me be excited to leave her for long trips rather than be sad or worried. Very reliable and exceptionally talented at what they do.

I have personally used the boarding for my whole crew over a holiday, and daycare numerous times and my dogs love it. I cannot recommend TPDT enough. If you are in Cleveland (or even remotely in the area) they are the best when it comes to training, pack walks, daycare, and boarding.

Our dog Maisy is a 4 year old Papillon. We looked into training because of her reactivity to other…read moredogs and we wanted to eventually be able to go on walks with her without her having a meltdown. With her age, we knew training would not be a perfect fix and we just wanted to get to a manageable spot. We found Turning Point Dog Training through a Google search and reached out. Within a day or two (I think it was same day), we got a response from Andrea, one of their dog trainers. Andrea was very accommodating with scheduling as my partner and I both work full time. When we first met with her - we immediately felt comfortable. One thing that I noticed and really appreciated right off is that we were not rushed through an appointment. Andrea took her time with us and we even ended up staying over time. She easily could have said "oh times up" or "I have another appointment". But this showed me that they would take time with our dog. We ended up selecting a 3 week board and train as that is what we felt fit out life best at the moment. Again - we went in with expectations that Maisy may never be perfect, but we wanted manageable. We met up with Andrea for her midway session and then again for a public outing at 3pm in a local park (I never thought I would take Maisy to a busy park with lots of dogs at 3pm), and we were absolutely blown away. It was a night and day difference! Maisy was walking near dogs and not having a full freak out and was able to remain calm. We did have to correct some minor behaviors - but she's still learning and so are we! Those behaviors we corrected though were nothing like anything she did in the past that felt unmanageable. We get Maisy back today from our 3 week board and train and we can't wait to see how it goes integrating what she has learned and what we have learned into our everyday life. I will post another review after a couple of weeks and/or months for an update. But so far, we have had such a great and meaningful experience! Other things we enjoyed: They send daily photo updates so you are never left without seeing your pup! They also have around the clock care and have eyes on your dog almost all the time if not all the time. Maisy was in such good hands.

But after a quick conversation with Sam who advised me not to, I was convinced to do the work with his help. Sam ALWAYS have solutions to different behaviors, that actually WORK. After each session I notice a tremendous change in my dog's behavior. Chase & Chloe were so gracious and helpful during the booking process. It was easy to book a private play session, I've already booked two more. They were both at the door to welcome us when we arrived. The room was clean, spacious, safe and had plenty to do. There was even a cute sign customized for Winnie and George Bailey! Drawers full of balls, puzzles, frisbees, chew toys, snuggle mats. Treats. Agility equipment. And not crappy temu stuff, regulation agility equipment that is safe to use! There was a coffee bar for humans and lots of books for reference as well. The corgs could have played for much longer, but they were so happy to have some chase and play time. They host play groups, seems like it's done by size. When you book a session, it costs $28 and it is a private session for 30 minutes. I highly recommend this for your dogs socialization, and especially for high energy dogs stuck inside in this cold weather!

My young Siberian Husky attended the training for a week last year. When I picked him up, he literally clung to me during my training. At the end, I was concerned about a few things but not enough to speak up during my training for the e collar use. My boy was behaving but something felt off. Once I got him in the car to go home, I gave him his toy that he supposedly had access to all week. He literally whimpered and cried and held the toy. He curled up in the seat during the trip home. It was unusual. I did receive pics and a message praising his progress everyday. That was a positive. One year later, we do not use the e collar and I've spent a lot of time working with my boy. My advice is to ask a lot of questions. Specifically about the daily routine of training, play and socialization during the stay at their facility. I don't think I'd go this route again with my dog.

Now, I'm not saying we didn't have to work hard to get there, it took a lot of practice and we have to continue to practice. But the change is amazing. I actually like having a dog now. Before, with all the biting, that was questionable. I would definitely recommend this company to anyone who has an unruly dog. To current time and place in November of this year we had the privilege to bring home another boy named Fred. Now Fred is a 3 year old Bull Mastiff. He has been in and out of fosters and shelters most of his life and due to a need to re-home him once again, I refused to let such an amazing boy back into that life. So we started the initiation process of introducing him into our pack. That seemed to go very well after a couple very supervised meetings. We then brought him home permanently. And for 2 weeks we seemed to be making progress with Fred's trust and inclusion into our home, while understanding it can take months to fully settle in. We did notice that while Waylon was interacting with him well, there were definite signs of dominance/boundary setting. Then one Friday, the 3rd weekend in November the wheels came off and Waylon snapped. He first went after Fred, then a day later went for Shandi, and then once again went back to Fred where he was literally on the back of Fred grabbing the back neck meat, trying to get him down. We of course then separated and segregated our home for everyone's protection and safety. Of course tension and emotions were high, it was a horrible time in our home. To be transparent even in our marriage, as we faced conflict with each other on the status of our dog pack and family. After being completely devastated and feeling absolutely defeated and confused as to where did we go so wrong? And why would this happen, when they have everything they need, toys, treats, beds, food and water, companionship etc.? I sat in my dark living room alone, processing. Now, not sure where you are in your faith walk but I just asked God to help. I began on Sunday night of that same weekend at like 8pm at night blindly searching for answers on the web, ultimately focusing on a professionals help. Again, this was a Sunday evening at like 8pm at night. I will preface with I never do this. So I never fill out the online "free consultation" prompts BUT THIS TIME I DID. Enters in - Beckin' Call Dog Training - Eric Beck, affiliated with Lorenzo's Dog Training Team. As I live and breathe today, I completed that free consultation invite and 10 minutes later, Eric was already calling me. I was truly shocked, and as I heard his voice on that initial call, so balanced, calm, concerned and wanting to help, it's like a peace came over me. He asked more detailed questions, then proceeded to say yes, this is not a good situation and stated safety is absolutely the most important thing right now. He confidently stated that he wants to help us and when was the soonest we could meet so he could further assess the situation. He would want to see the environment, our interaction with him and then Eric's interaction. Again, blowing my mind we made a time to meet that following day in the evening. When Monday arrived I received a call from Eric at 4:45pm letting me know he had a change to his schedule and could come out sooner if that worked for us. I said how's 5:20pm, he said no problem he will be there. Eric arrive right on time, entered our home, all dogs were crated or sectioned off and leashed for handling. From there all four of the dogs began to bark, cry and act out as if they'd never seen a person before. Waylon was crated right next to Fred and was staring at him like I'd not seen before. Eric calmly sat down seeing all the chaos and began to ask questions and then proceeded to request we take Waylon out and have him interact with the commands and leash handling. Now side note, since Waylon was a pup, along with Ben and Shandi they were on harnesses not collar leashes. So we then learned leash breaking is a thing. Waylon was like we'd not seen him before, making these weird back kicking motions, completely distracted and not responding to any commands or communication. Both my husband and I had a very poor interaction with him at that point. Eric then said okay, and took the leash. He talked us through the entire thing, and what was going to transpire. Oddly enough at which time I felt a sense of peace he knew exactly what to do. He began the "battle" with Waylon, as hard as it was to watch and listen to the rest of the dogs go crazy I knew it needed to happen. All while this was occurring Eric remained unbelievably calm, direct and professional while understanding this was a lot for people completely unaware of this process. He was amazing, and was able to get through to Waylon in a very short time (which felt a lot longer lol) and Waylon finally submitted to Eric. Eric then continued to advise us on his recommendation of a 2 week board and training being the only option at success because of the environment and circumstances.
