I like to stay in old style motels where you can park your rig just outside the door. I like spending my money with small family run places. I've stayed at the Thunderbird three times now. The manager is accommodating, and the rooms are clean and pretty quiet. One caveat, be careful about booking through some agency like Booking.com. They often don't get the reservation to the property, and it can be full by the time you arrive to check in. If you can, call the motel directly. read more

This is a pretty outdated hotel. It's got some lipstick on a pig but my shower was still pink from the 1960-70's. It's also across the street from a railroad... It would be fine at $50 a night but $80 is a bit much to be honest. read more

This well run motel earns every little tip of its two star rating, we encountered very friendly, fair and helpful staff as well as very clean rooms and immaculate linens. The price was half of that of the next option in the area and since we are on a budget it was the main reason we picked it. However the Thunderbird Motel proved better than expected. I had to attend a three hour zoom class and needed sufficient wifi service to make it happen. Mark the desk clerk was not trying to oversell the wifi, and told us it was just regular wifi. We took the chance and to my surprise I had no issues at all getting on line and attending the entire class without any glitzes or pauses. We definitely would stay there again. We did not take a shower there so I can't speak to that but the sink and bathroom were super clean and water was running well and hot. Give it a chance to surprise you. read more

We were traveling and just needed a good nights rest. We found this hotel at such a reasonable rate and decided to stay. When we arrived the owner was so friendly and accommodating. The room was renovated and very clean. We had a good nights rest and we're happy with the no frills, but very accommodating motel. The Thunderbird Motel. A monument to "Meh". My adventure began with the proprietor barking at me for not booking with him directly then trying to upsell me a different room. Aside from that he was always friendly and attentive. Upon entering my room I could sense the long and storied history of the facility in the form of a moderate to strong smell of mildew. Aside from that, the room was clean and well maintained. The air conditioning worked well and kept the Room at a comfortable temperature at all times. The room was appointed in the standard way. Desk, dresser, and bed with flanking nightstands. My room also featured a door that connected to the next unit, This provided me the opportunity to hear everything going on with my neighbors. Luckily for me, the adults and their brood of children were night owls so the stomping, yelling, crying, door slamming and blasting TV volume kept me entertained well into the night. Railway enthusiasts and sleeping babies will enjoy the building's very close proximity to real working train tracks! They may also want to take advantage of the in room coffee pot since the track only seems active between the hours of midnight and four AM. The spirit of the Thunderbird Motel seems to say, "There will be time enough for rest when you're dead!" and I left there forever transformed. I took with me a new if somewhat bleary eyed perspective on large families and freight train schedules as well as a fresh appreciation of my own pillows. You will too. read more

While this isn't the Hilton, the room was very nice, very clean and the manager is very kind. We only stayed one night but it was great. Had a fridge and microwave which is more than I can say for the last hotel we stayed at that charged A LOT more. If you are just looking for somewhere to sleep, this place was great! read more

Inexpensive and only a short drive off I-84. Very strong smell of ethnic food. Office dirty and disorganized. They do not accept credit cards. Got that gut feeling that I needed to double check that my car was locked and all valuables removed. Internet does work. read more

traveling cross country with my boyfriend and we hit some car trouble after Boise, we had no option but to creep to the next closest town, it was late and no mechanics open until the morning, so we started looking for a place to stay in this little town. everyone was full capacity or unable to help us. we decided to call this motel and ask for a room! cheapest rates anywhere and the rooms are quaint and comfortable. great shower pressure, heater works wonderful for a cold november night, and the owner was a lovely and kind hearted man who was just so helpful and appreciated. this was MUCH better than staying the night in our car in a foreign town on a cold night. thank you Fajim! would definitely recommend this motel to any travelers in the area. definitely can't beat the price ! read more

This Hotel was very convenient because it was right off the freeway and the rates are very affordable. If your looking for a hotel with a low rate then this is the place. They have a pool and a hot tub but they're only available in the summer. read more

I happened upon this place on a cross country road trip to Austin from Seattle. The year was 2008. My new beau and I were enjoying a leisurely ride in a Budget moving truck. It was not the most comfortable ride and we welcomed a few scenic stops at Oregon State parks. We'd been driving for a day; rooms were scarce. We were exhausted. The Thunderbird sign appeared with a halo of light and the angelic sound of a choir. "Ahhh." As someone who is not above staying at a cheap motor inn, I figured it was harmless. I was wrong. Yes, it was 4am. Yes, we had to wake the innkeeper, but that goes with the territory of running a motel. He spook poor English and was very rude. The room was filthy. I spotted a cockroach shortly after we entered. We left our luggage in the truck to avoid departing with any unwanted guests. We decided to take a photo of the nifty sign before we left. The owner ran out of the office and yelled at us to stop. He proceeded to shout "NO PICTURES!" as he shook his hand at us. Needless to say, I'd recommend sleeping in your car if those are your only two options. read more

He's a suspicious old man, but he smiles and says 'god bless' after everything and shuffles back into his office. One guy, one night, 30 bucks is pretty affordable. read more
