So, we had to forward the form to them to get it filled out ASAP as SOS was indicating they hadn't heard from out references. We had the situation fixed within a day or two (it was during Christmas time). I sent an email to Dee to touch base if they've received the forms from our references and then nothing but crickets chirping. I waited and waited and waited (knowing my references filled out their form and giving them the benefit of the doubt) but then this morning a got an email that the cat we'd been waiting in for 3 weeks+ was adopted. No reason, no explanation, nothing. I even sent an email this morning (giving them the benefit of the doubt) and have not gotten an answer per usual. It's amazing to me, they want to come do a home visit, get our references, want to speak with our vets, want all our pets shot records at a fast rate, but their communication is slow AF. This was supposed to be a Christmas present for our family after losing 2 pets (we used to be a dog family until my son asked for a cat) but now 4 weeks of work is GONE without even an ounce of communication besides an email from Petfinder that the cat we were waiting almost a month for is adopted. We found the Siamese Oriental and Snowshoe Cat Rescue network (SOS) via adoptapet.com. SOS is an incredible non-profit rescue center that takes in exotic breeds who have been abused or neglected. Though their application process is extensive, I appreciate how well they vet their candidates. They want to ensure their kittens find the purrrrfect forever home. In addition to the detailed application questions, you're required to submit your driver's license, a utility bill to verify your address, and 3-4 references (one of which cannot be a friend), along with your current pets' most recent vaccination records. Adoption rates vary depending on the feline's age and breed. Once your application is approved, you'll have a phone interview with a staff member or the executive director, Dee, to discuss the care of your potential new cat and address any lingering questions. Our application process took about 2.5 weeks from start to finish, including the interview. If you're in the area or want to make the trip to meet your potential new cat in person--it's definitely an option! We visited Ms. Dee's home and left that same day with the 9-week-old kitten we had applied for.

Instead of having any sympathy she blamesd me and accused me of being a bad person and to old me I was not allowed to return there. She got upset because I toyher that the dog needs training and they have to inform fuerte adopters of bad behaviors. Do not donate to these people. Volunteer at a shelter where they have sympathy for you and volunteers.

Such is our affection that our friends jokingly suggest they'd prefer to return in their next life as one of our cherished dogs. Recently, we felt the profound pain of losing our beloved den mother 12-year-old Husky. Seeking to fill a void we found a young husky listed on the PAWS website. What happened at PAWS will forever live on as one of the most cruel, confusing experiences of our lives and we worked and lived in Hollywood. We were judged and convicted for being abusive dog owners due to bringing our flight risk, escape artist, three-year-old German shepard, husky mix into their facility wearing training collars. The PAWS representative disregarded our decades of experience and hastily deemed us unsuitable for the adoption. With the passing of our elder husky our three-year-old female is in a state of despair. A puppy at PAWS appeared to be a perfect fit, however they required us to bring our old crippled dog along with the three-year-old. It was 109 in the shade and putting him in a vehicle was not exactly humane, however if this was their policy, so be it. I co-founded the Bill Hicks Foundation for Wildlife Rescue in Austin and on our ranch we feed hundreds of animals, but never hunt. From the snow-covered mountains of California -Colorado and back to our Texas ranch we travel extensively with our pack of snow dogs. One time I was taking our large malamute to the Vet in Studio city, she broke her collar and I chased her almost a mile through fast on-coming traffic. Long story short - I have learned with experience that when transporting dogs that fear strangers, vet offices & La Quinta lobbies, I do everything in my power to make sure my babies don't get hit by a car. When I first arrived at PAWS, I brought my crippled dog in and placed him in a room. I wasn't sure who was in charge or what the agenda was, but we had been promised a private space for my dog to acclimate before the initial puppy meeting. The foster mom for the puppy asked if I wanted to see him. I walked into another room and played with him. Then the PAWS "animal expert" entered the room. Visibly annoyed she said - "Whoa! What is happening? This is not how we do things! I'm so confused" She grabbed the leash. Next my wife brought our scared to death three-year-old into the lobby with people coming & going. The puppy stuck his nose up her crotch as to be expected. Everyone including the foster mom thought the encounter was great. The PAWS expert said "nope - your dog growled this isn't going to work" I thought she was kidding. She was not. She said "the puppy wants to play, but your dog doesn't" I said "my dog is scared to death" Visibly trembling the woman proceeded to lecture me as if I was 5 years old about how using corrective collars has made my dog fearful. I have had my three-year-old since she was eight weeks, she is my shadow, sleeps in our bed, we are inseparable. She lives care free on a ranch with deer, horses, cows and other dogs. As a last-ditch effort, I took the collars off and suggested we walk the 109 parking lot to get my dog away from the confusion. When we went outside my dog attempted to back out of the collar and I was forced to grab her before she ran into traffic. Instead of admitting she misjudged the situation she said "WE ARE DONE" and stormed into the building. After carrying my crippled dog who was now sitting in his own filth and served no purpose by being there back to the car, I pleaded with her. She said "my decision is final, but your welcome to come back and try again" Next day we adopted a young Husky from another shelter, who ironically growled at my 3-year-old during the initial meeting. Back at our ranch they played until passing out, sleeping side by side. At the end of the day, my wife and I hope & pray that the PAWS puppy will find a great forever home and his life can be a wonderful love filled adventure.

I appreciate what y'all do, but the staff are misguided on their policies…read more My elderly mom adopted a young cat with some nutritional issues that the staff said were "resolved with a special (expensive) food". One week in on the special food, and the cat was fecal spotting everywhere, starting to loose a bit of weight, and tearing her house up. She took the cat to her Vet who conveyed that the cat had some pretty bad food allergies that may never resolve (even on special food since she *was* on special food). She ended up bringing the cat back to the shelter because she wasn't prepared for a cat that sick. We learned that the cat had been returned twice before to the shelter, and the staff were extremely upset that the cat was being returned again. Obviously the adoption fees, supplies, etc stayed with the shelter. 6 months later, my mom applied for another cat adoption with PAWS, and was denied because she brought the sick cat back. It's well known in the shelter system that animal returns happen for good reason. Employees are generally taught to not blame adopting families if an adoption doesn't work out. (since you don't want to put people off from adopting in the first place) PAWS needs to seriously reconsider their policies.. this kind of behavior fuels puppy and kitty mills.

Our story : We rescued a Shepsky ( Shadow ) from San Marcus Human society 3 years ago. It the shelter he showed no aggression but not long after we go him home he showed signs of resource guarding and its slowly gotten worse. We cant put a muzzle on him and he bit our former vet for trying to muzzle him. Long story shorter, we were referred 2 mobile vets by a trainer, one said they would do it, but didn't seem interested in the job, so we called 6 whiskers, My wife spoke with Dylan. Dylan was really interested in Shadow, asking a ton of questions, seemed genuinely excited to be able to meet him and went over everything they would do for us. They showed up exactly when they said they would, with a full mobile office, weight scale, the works. Dylan brought tons of treats for Shadow too. with in a few minutes he had shadow acting like his best friend. Dr Elizabeth was wonderful too. Was able to quickly give Shadow a shot and within 10 minutes he went to sleep. While shadow was sleeping, Dr Elizabeth went to work, taking blood for testing, giving him all his shots, even broke out the vacc5000 ( think that was Dylan's name for it ) and trimmed his nails, and trimmed his hair on his back end for us. The appointment was about 2 1/2 hrs long, all dedicated to Shadow. I cant recommend these guys enough. Expecting a huge bill, i was pleasantly surprised at the fair cost at the end.

We have two cats who haven't been to a vet before so they were getting a full checkup and vaccines. Upon arrival, they were very disorganized and it felt like making things up as they went. For example, they forgot to give our cat one of the shots she needed. The husband was particularly unprofessional, he kept telling us not to be nervous and if we're nervous the cats get nervous - when what was making us nervous was how they were scrambling to decide what steps to perform and forgetting things and the wife kept asking him questions and he just kept talking to us about nothing. They also didn't disclose the side effects of the vaccines they gave my cats until after they got them. They were supposed to come back for a booster shot but we did not feel comfortable so we canceled the appointment, and they immediately sent us vet records and basically dismissed us as clients, after I had paid over $1,000 for their "services". Now one of my cats, who was perfectly healthy before the appointment (and was confirmed so by their tests) is suddenly lethargic and experiencing pain in her leg, and when we contacted them about it they just acted like "it couldn't have been from us" and offered no additional advice or care. If you are thinking of using this service for your cats, I would absolutely not recommend 6 Whiskers.

The amount of money they claim to have spent getting one of their dogs back from it's owner is inconsistently varies quite a bit. They have quite a few fundraising pages and are quick to pepper the internet with requests for donations. Their interaction with me was extremely suspect. I saw their dog, Nolan, on petfinder. When I emailed to ask about his availability, heartworm status and age, I was told he has to be adopted with their dog named, Lulu and I did not receive an answer about his current HW status. I asked for more information about Lulu. I found out that both dogs had been heartworm +, but Cindy Marabito wouldn't tell me if they had their vaccinations or had been cleared by a vet after their "holistic heartworm treatment." There was or is some kind of messy legal/custody battle over Lulu. Cindy wouldn't tell me if it had been sorted out. I had to ask: 4 times if they were fixed. I never got an answer, but Lulu's petfinder page now says she is spayed. 4 times if the legal problems with Lulu's custody were resolved. I still haven't gotten an answer. 3 times if they were now heartworm free. Finally Cindy claimed that Nolan was healed with raw and herbal diet/treatments. So I asked if she had verified with a vet that the treatments were successful. She refused to answer that too. 2 times if they were vaccinated, I never got an answer, but Lulu's petfinder page now says she is UTD on vaccines. Cindy sent this: "Both are raw fed and homeopathically treated, so would need to continue that lifestyle. Nolan was hw positive when we got him and totally cured with herbal..a raw fed dog treated with herbal will not become infected with hw or other parasites or disease..take a look at our website .... Health Page. It's amazing..none of our dogs go to conventional vets or ever get sick, get fleas, cancer, etc." I'm certainly not against raw or herbal, but this all just sounds like a scam or wingnut on the loose.

The receptionists are friendly and there are snacks and a drink fridge!! They have great artwork all around the lobby and patient rooms. I am a plant lover and the room is filled with everything from pothos to monsteras. I did give the pothos by the tv a little drink; it was thirsty. Dr. Lawton is knowledgeable and thorough. She answered all of my questions and left me feeling like Roxie was in great hands. We have a plan moving forward and that puts me at ease. Roxie is 15 and overall very healthy. They even found a gap in the leptospirosis vaccine that Roxie has been getting forever. My previous vet's office (which rhymes with Shmestlake Animal Hospital) let her lepto vaccine lapse so now Roxie needs this shot and another one in three weeks. :( They even give you a bottle of wine for being a new patient/customer. Nice touch! :) I'm so happy Roxie has a new home at Firehouse. Your pet will be happy too!

We were very happy to have been cared for and by Dr. Bonnet and Dr. Dillon and their staff as they were always professional, honest, and sincere. Technicians were so thorough and communicative on every step they needed to take with our pet and her care. They were so kind to us at such precious moments and decisions. The transparency of cost and the estimated time for medicine/pickup that was communicated to us at the get was spot on. We had no delays or disappointments in the meticulous care Dr. Bonnet provided. Having a 20-year old senior cat can present challenges (besides her being a spicy/mean cat) and added stress for vet visits. Dr. Bonnet really cared for us and provided professional and honest opinions in determining care for Maybea. Scheduling appointments via the app and/or calling in to speak with staff was always friendly and kind. The waiting rooms and exam rooms were very welcoming for us and our cat when we came to visit for appointments. Parking is super easy and they have about 6 parking spots that are dedicated to any pet family coming in which we appreciated. Both of the doctors, and all of the staff at Travis Country Vet were very patient and kind and compassionate, at a very emotional time for us. It was all handled very well. I would say that, like the vast majority of vets, they are allopathic doctors, and don't promote holistic means as much as I think is warranted. E.g., a few years back Jasper was lame and they gave us our options for surgery. I must say they were very even handed, noting the pros and cons. Instead I gave Jasper the Chondroitin Sulfate I was taking and in 3 months he was back to his normal self, running around. :-) So always do your own research for holistic alternatives to surgery, or drugs. Overall a great place to take your fur-baby.
