We are those people who treat and love their dog like you would a family member. We love our 3 year old Maltipoo, Mufasa. Since he was little Mufasa has always had the same dog nanny to walk and play with him every weekday afternoon. So I was taking care of my dads dog for the week while he was out of town, and since I work from home with only minimal need to leave the house, I was able to hang out and watch her all day and volunteered. She (the dog) had gotten attacked by another dog at a daycare/boarding place a few months earlier, so that was kind of a sore spot in terms of options. Well, occasionally things come up for me with work and I ended up getting an important meeting I had been trying for in San Antonio, which along with a few other errands would take up a full 8 hour day, a period of time for which I couldn't leave her in her crate for. After unsuccessfully bribing any of my friends to help out and a boarding situation out of the question, someone suggested calling a "pet sitter". After a couple of unanswered calls and messages to other businesses I called Capcity and an actual person answered my call and was able to troubleshoot my problem. Brilliant! We worked out a time so Will, one of the owners, could come by and meet the dog, and frankly I was interested in meeting anyone who would be coming over since I felt weird about a stranger coming over while I was gone. After meeting Will those reservations were completely gone. He was punctual, knowledgeable, friendly and Doodles really seemed to like him, although she loves everybody....but still, he seemed to have a way with animals. He waived an interview fee since he said he was already in the area, we went over some options on what might work best and he confirmed his schedule on what he could do timeline wise that day, and that was it. We made all the arrangements on the spot, he followed up with me to confirm everything the day before. I felt secure leaving that day but he even sent me a text update during the day with a picture of a happy dog which was a nice touch. I usually get anxious when I go out of town and leave my furbabies behind, but leaving them in the care of Will and Claire definitely puts my mind at ease! Whenever I go out of town, I have them stop in once or twice a day to care for my cats. While I'm away, they email me every few days to let me know how my little dudes are doing. Sometimes they send pictures too, which is always fun :) They charge $17/visit for cat care, but the price goes down a bit if you buy a package. I really wanted Capcity to be my new pet sitting service (my previous sitter moved to Houston), but my first and only experience with them wasn't that great. I have 6 cats with zero health issues, so it wasn't a complicated job. We keep two cats upstairs and 4 downstairs. The initial in-home meeting was fine, but I was surprised that Will and Claire seemed to not be familiar with the automatic water fountain and the Feline Pine sifter litter box. I demonstrated how to use these. We were out of town for 10 days, but had easy email, phone, and text access. I had to prompt the sitters to send me updates; each update was that everything was fine. When we got home, we immediately noticed that it was very hot upstairs. The temperature was ~95F. My two upstairs cats, including my 17-year old kitty, were on lying on the bathroom floor and very lethargic. It turns out that the air conditioner had been broken for several days. I contacted Will to ask if they noticed it was very hot upstairs. He said they noticed that it was 'warm' but thought that I wanted it that way. I need a sitter who is proactive and doesn't assume that I want my elderly cat to spend days keeping cool on a bathroom floor. Why not just email/call/text me and ask? In addition, it was obvious that the litter boxes hadn't been changed a single time in 10 days. It looked like they scooped the poop but didn't sift out the urine-soaked sawdust (I demonstrated how to do this in the initial visit). As a result, the sawdust was like a brick in the bottom of the box and smelled horrible. Finally, automatic water fountain was completely empty. I haven't discussed these issues w/ Will and Claire because somebody who thinks ~95F is simply 'warm', doesn't clean a litter box once in 10 days, lets the water go empty, and doesn't communicate any problems despite ample opportunity is clueless. I have zero intention of hiring them again and don't want any restitution. I have simply described the facts, you can make your own decision. read more

We have two dogs, a neurotic corgi who likes no one and a crazy Wheaten Terrier puppy who can be quite the handful! In the past, we had a hard time boarding the corgi because of his depression once we left him. However, he loves staying with Claire and Will. They provide a safe and loving home for them to play in. Our dogs love their back yard and really love their dog Chimi (Our Wheaten likes to get down with him). We are extremely over protective of our dogs, they are after all, our children. I can't thank Will and Claire enough for the attentive care they provided to my kitty when I had to leave town on a scheduled trip the day after bringing her home from the emergency vet, three days after she was hit by a car. I needed pet sitters with sensitivity to cat behavior who could spend time monitoring and observing her behavior to make sure she was improving, to administer pain meds and antibiotics three times a day, and well as take her to the vet for daily testing to monitor her blood levels. Amazingly, I was able to find them the day before I left on a holiday weekend and they were able to come that same night to meet me. They made a great team and my kitty was never alone for very long. They kept a written log of her behavior, eating frequency, medication administration, and litter box habits and sent me daily text updates as well as consulted with the vet on my behalf. I don't think my kitty would have improved any faster had I stayed home to care for her! Both Claire and Will impressed me with their knowledge and ability to perceive animal behavior and body language. Will and Claire also managed the needs of my other cats and dogs while here to make sure everyone was watered, let in or out and didn't overheat in the hot weather. In short, I'd highly recommend them to anyone seeking trustworthy, quality pet sitters. I am relatively new to Austin and had previously boarded my dog Payton at a place near my then-apt.. I was mostly satisfied there. However, Thanksgiving snuck up on me and by the time I called there to make arrangements for my out-of-town trip; they were fully-booked, as was every other dog-boarding place in or near Austin. I sorted Yelp by rating and began calling every place on the list with a good rating. At this point, I didn't care about how far it was from me. That's how I found Claire and Will of Capcity Pets. Kismet led me to the vet Claire works for and while the vet didn't have any boarding openings, Claire very nicely and professionally told me about her (and Will's) business and invited me to check out their website. She was totally no pressure about it. I checked them out, and while it was more expensive to have my girl stay at their home with them, I was out of options. I called Claire back and made arrangements for a 7 day stay at their home. Upon meeting them, I was immediately comfortable. They know animals and took time to get to know me a bit, ask all the right questions, and allow my Payton to get to know them, their house and yard, and their delightful own dog(s); who became fast friends with my girl. As others have noted, I received several texts, pictures and updates during my trip, which put me at great ease. I had another, longer trip coming up over Christmas. Given that Payton came home from Capcity Pets so tired out from her play, and clearly well-taken care of; I decided to book Claire and Will for my Christmas trip as well. I had intended to be gone 11 days. The day before my return, I ended up in the hospital with emergency surgery, which kept me out of town for another 10 days unexpectedly. I immediately texted Claire and Will and they assured me that Payton was welcome to stay and would be just fine with them and they had the availability to keep her until my return. What a tremendous relief!! They even contacted me later that week to inquire about what kind of food Payton ate since the amount I had packed was running out. They also asked if she were due for any preventive flea or heartworm treatment. It's their thoughfullness and caring and genuine respect for an love of animals that sets them apart. Upon my return, they had adjusted my bill for me because of the weird circumstances. It's not just for that reason though that they have found a client for as long as I am in Austin. Truly, my girl was treated like family by them and I can no longer imagine having her crated at a boarder for any length of time. These are fantastic, genuine people who treat your pets like their own. I just hope they don't get too busy for me!!!
