Love the pulled pork here, and brisket's always the standard to order. I had the beef link in my most recent visit too, and I liked that as well. I always go with the deluxe mac n cheese for my side as I'm a mac n cheese fanatic. Service is excellent here, I actually left my jacket my last visit and they were so kind to allow one of my coworkers who lives in Steinbach to pick it up and give it back to me in the office. They didn't need to but I really appreciated what they did! Is it the best BBQ ever? I'm sure there are better options outside the province, but this is definitely top tier for Manitoba.

I finished one and still had room for more food and my friend who also had the chicken agreed that the portion was pretty average. I would not consider this sandwich as "stuffed" beyond capacity. The sandwich was easy to eat and well contained in the wrap it came in, so how stuffed could that sandwich be? Public Health & Customer Service Warning - Habanero Sombrero, The Forks…read more If you're visiting The Forks and planning to grab something to eat, I would strongly encourage you to think twice before eating at Habanero Sombrero. I can't speak to how often this restaurant is inspected, but based on my experience, I have serious concerns about its food handling and customer service. I ordered a meal and, after eating a significant portion of it, discovered a long strand of what appeared to be human hair buried in my food. The moment I saw it, my stomach turned. I was horrified, wondering how much of it I may have unknowingly eaten before noticing it. It was one of the most disgusting dining experiences I have ever had. I immediately brought it to the attention of the staff. The first employee I spoke with was genuinely apologetic and immediately offered me a refund. I truly appreciated the sincerity of her apology and was actually about to tell her not to worry about the refund because I understood that mistakes can happen. Unfortunately, before I could say a word, another employee came out from the back, interrupted the conversation, and completely changed the tone of the interaction. In a rude and dismissive manner, he said no refund would be given because I had already eaten the food. He then suggested that I could have been the one who planted the strand of hair, and that he could offer me a complimentary drink instead. Let that sink in. I never asked for a refund. It was offered to me, and I was about to decline it before I was interrupted. Yet, instead of being treated with empathy after finding hair in my food, I was effectively accused of trying to scam the restaurant. I have never felt so insulted, embarrassed, or disrespected as a customer. The employee then went to speak with his boss. I don't know what he told him, but he returned and said the owner would only authorize a complimentary drink or that I could send an email if I wanted to pursue the matter further. Finding hair in food is bad enough. It can happen in any restaurant. What truly defines a business is how it responds when something goes wrong. In my case, the issue wasn't just the hair--it was the way I was treated afterward. Instead of taking responsibility and trying to make things right, I left feeling accused, dismissed, and humiliated. I'll let others draw their own conclusions, but based on my experience, I cannot recommend Habanero Sombrero. We've enjoyed Extreme Fries many times before and genuinely think they serve some of the best poutine in Winnipeg. The skinny fries are fantastic, and the gravy is easily one of our favourites, so bringing them to our wedding was an easy decision. Bobby was wonderful to work with throughout the process. She was friendly, accommodating, and made sure that guests with dietary restrictions or allergies had options available. Her pricing was very reasonable, and the portion sizes were perfect for a late-night snack. One of the highlights was having the food truck pull right up to the venue. It created such a fun atmosphere, with guests gathering outside, socializing, and enjoying fresh poutine together. We also had several guests visiting from outside of Canada who had never tried poutine before, and they loved it so much they were asking for the recipe afterward! It was also reassuring to hear that both our venue and wedding coordinator had worked with Bobby before and were excited to learn she would be part of our wedding. It wasn't clear on whether it was over the counter service or if they come and provide waiter service when dining in, so I ordered over the counter. I had the pozole and one regular birria taco. The birria taco was very juicy, with plenty of meat and greens. The pozole was good, though I've never been crazy about radish and lettuce being added to soups...I feel like it ruins the authenticity of Mexican food, and my friend who's Mexican agrees with that sentiment. Service was excellent here. I would however say Sargent Taco and BMC are better taquerias in the city, but if you're in the west half of the city and aren't willing to travel closer to the core, this place does its job well.
