Safe,efficient and a wonderful experience! We took The Heron to the Dave Matthews show at the Chase Center. Danielle and the ship's crew were really great. Danielle kept us informed along the way which was very reassuring. We had a fabulous safe ride to the center, walked maybe one block and into the show with time to spare. The crew were diligent in making sure that we were all there before we returned to the San Rafael Yacht Club. It was a beautiful experience run safely and efficiently. We'll be doing this again. What a way to beat the gridlock! read more

Horrible company that is the muscle for Kilroy Realty and helps to evict elderly disabled, veterans and low income folks from their liveaboard homes on the water after Kilroy has spent the last several years making sure most of the folks were coerced off of liveaboard status. Many people will become homeless. Thanks, Tideline, claims they care by posting a bunch of posters for other marinas--none of whom will take liveaboards OR the waiting list is years long and there's no way they'll get that in their lifetime. Or the ones that will take them are far away from their jobs, friends, family, and community. read more

Just tried out their new pilot regular ferry service from Berkeley to sf. Small boat so it's not quite like the major ferries, currently only takes about 10-20 people, but they are just getting started. Beautiful way to cross the bay and faster than bus or driving. 25 mins from dock to dock. Super nice folks, room for bikes (bring a bungee), and I hope the pilot service turns into a real thing. Easy option for bikes and way way more serene and pleasant than other options. They only run Thursday or Friday at the moment (Jan 2017) trying to build a passenger base, and you have to reserve on their site, don't just show up. read more

I live nearby the Berkeley Marina and work in The City, so Tideline is an awesome option for my commute. The crew (hi Greg!) and management (hi Danielle!) are wonderful across the board, the ride is comfortable and relaxing and I'm always at work in a better mood than I ever thought possible. In the evenings, riding home with a beer creates signals that it's time to relax and by the time I'm home, I've already unwound. Bike, dog and drink friendly is an awesome combo for a commuter service. Thanks, Tideline! read more

BEST DATE IDEA EVER. This guy I've seen for a couple dates asked if I wanted to go from SF to Sausalito with him in a boat taxi. I didn't even know what a boat taxi was, so when I got there and saw the boat ("boat limo" would be a better description) I couldn't believe it was so lovely. The first thing I did on the little deck at the back of the boat, was make my date dance with me. :P Taylor, the founder of the company, was really cool. And the rest of the staff was so friendly, they chatted with us while we boated around the bay. As a custom service, we were able to ask them to stop and point out parts of the SF bay area for us, on the way to get drinks at a water-side restaurant in Sausalito, something amazing and romantic you could never do on a ferry. I asked where they take passengers, and they even do runs to Angel Island during the weekdays, when the ferries shut down. The prices are higher than the ferries if you're riding alone or with just one other person, but for how nice the boat was, it seemed very reasonable, and it gets cheap for groups. Plus, imagine a trip to Angel Island when you have the whole island to yourself! I'm definitely going to do this the next chance I get. Note to the guys out there: I'm still dating this dude so take your lady or even your business associates for a ride -- you won't regret it. I don't! ;) read more

I took the ferry from SF to Berkeley recently. Lovely ride and nice crew. It costs more than BART but the ride is more relaxed and 15 people on board so it was a nice trade off. Down side is these guys spam like a mofo with emails and texts afterwards. I receive at least one text a day or every other day from these guys plus one or two emails per week urging me to book tickets. I like the ferry service, I really do, but the reality is I'll only use their ferry service when their schedule and mine work out. I could do without them constantly reminding me daily that they exist. read more

Had a great time taking the Tideline Osprey to San Francisco with my daughter last Friday. Captain Glenn and Steve were awesome. On a previous ride, Captain Paul took us over. We took the Bay Lights cruise on one beautiful evening with full moon and calm waters on the bay. It was not a bad experience - except: For a fraction of the cost of this ride, we could easily have experienced the same on the Oakland-SF ferry. The boat fits ~20 passengers. There were three staff members - the captain who navigates and operates the boat, the deck hand who helps passengers on and off the boat, and a third person. We are not sure what role the third person plays. He's kind of a jokester, trying to entertain guests and making them laugh. But before long, it was obvious he's slightly to moderately intoxicated. We actually saw him drinking alcohol with guests. He was bordering being annoying at times. If this cruise could have actually made a brief stop in front of the beautiful Bay Bridge so everyone could have some moments to capture the Bay Lights without the boat moving at some speed, it would have added so much more value. Although I did ask this third guy if they could pause the boat for a moment, and although he agreed to do so, the boat did not make any stop - as if the conversation and request had never happened. Despite a beautiful night on the Bay, unfortunately, we were disappointed with what we got for our money. Our advice: Take a ferry ride instead. read more

Outstanding service! We had visitors from Paris and wanted to give them a special tour of the bay. Tideline delivered! Taylor and crew were very professional and yet very personable with our guests. They took time to take us through the gate so that we could take some fabulous photos. They took us to Sausalito and the group got ice cream and more photos. UNRELIABLE. We signed up for the July 4 fireworks cruise weeks in advance, and they cancelled by email on the day of the event with a transparently fake excuse. Not sure what is going on with them, but they are highly unprofessional and unreliable. read more

I was lucky enough to have this amazing company give me a boat ride to Angel Island where I received a surprise prosposal. The guys who drove the boat were so personable, were really flexible on time, and took a ton of pics of our special moment. The boat was a really smooth ride, was clean and is the ONLY way to travel around the bay. read more

Tideline Water taxi was fabulous. Took it twice and both times were great. Michael was especially accommodating and took the time to stop when we wanted to take pictures. Five star staff, five star experience. We will definitely take it again. Beats traffic across the bay any day. read more

I will never travel into the city any other way! This was the BEST way to get to the Giants game (we took the Marin loop).. giving a breathtaking view of the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz along the way. This was more than just a means of transportation, it was an experience and an amazing one at that. The crew were so kind and friendly, and got us right near AT&T park without the hassle of traffic! They were fast, easy to book and were very courteous when we were on board. It was nice to have a confirmation text about the reservation. Would have been nice to have a text about an hour to 30 minutes before arrival updating with exact ETA- as on the water minor delays do happen when it's busy and it would have eased my anxiety. But they got us to our destination with time to spare and it was a really enjoyable way to get to see the bay and get where we were going. I will definitely use Tideline again next time I need a ride around the bay to make the day a little more special. read more

Awesome until the week of 5/8/17 when a new pilot (guy with a mustache and aviator sunglasses) took over on Richmond Commuter boat resulting in the following: - Poor docking, boat swings 3-4" and passengers need to jump - Deckhands struggle to tie up boat properly, boat goes back and forth vs. previous pilots - Pilot no longer assists deckhand with passenger embarking/disembarking (deckhand was on his phone during disembark) - On two occasions nobody assisted passengers while pilot (see above) was chatting with deckhand inside the cabin - A serious drop in lack of courtesy and professionalism - Radio loud - Window left open instead of closing - The boat was late leaving and arriving every day this week The docking problems are serious. If someone falls or hurts him/herself that cold be a huge issue. And, most obviously, you shouldn't have these issues on a service that costs $22/roundtrip. Two stars because of past great quality. Please improve. read more

Tideline's commuter ferry has made my commute the best part of the day! The captain and crew are extremely friendly and competent. It's easy to bring my bike on board. The regular riders make it a community experience. The best part: the Bay is beautiful! It's truly life-enhancing to become more aware of the patterns of light and fog, tides and waves, sea birds and marine mammals. To me, it doesn't feel like I've added time to my commute; it feels like I've given myself a bit of vacation every workday! read more

My husband has never been to Angel Island, the "other guys" referred me to Tideline Marine when they couldn't accommodate us. Glad we did. On time, excellent customer service from beginning to end. Paul was right there as he said he would be. I would use them again and hope have them show us the bay next time we are down. read more

Imagine you are me. Someone who prepaid for a water taxi from Pier 40 to Jack London Square after a rock concert because our transportation options were very limited between San Francisco and Oakland due to a BART maintenance shutdown. I wanted the evening to go off without a hitch and I wanted to avoid Bay Bridge traffic, so I arranged for a water taxi to take us home. I PAID for the water taxi on September 3. I CONFIRMED with Tideline on September 4 that I would be at the designated location at the pre-arranged time. I even mentioned while I was confirming that I was attending the Billy Joel concert at AT&T Park. After we arrived at the concert venue on September 5, I started receiving phone calls from an Unidentified Caller. (Turns out that the caller was Tideline telling me I needed to confirm my reservation immediately or they were canceling my water taxi.) I had no way of knowing that without listening to the voice mails. I received 4 calls and two voice mails between 7:00 and 7:30PM. I tried to listen to the voice mails but could not hear them because I was at a rock concert and there was no quiet location available where I could listen to messages. I had no way of knowing it was Tideline that was calling. We enjoyed the concert, but ended up leaving before it was over so we could be sure to meet our water taxi on time. We arrived at Pier 40 ten minutes before our designated time to find a water taxi there, but it was not ours. It was one going to Marin. We were told ours wasn't coming, that it had been canceled, and that they would be refunding me my money. It was too late to catch another ferry. Ferry service had stopped for the night. How would you feel if you were stranded in downtown San Francisco at 11PM with no idea how to get home? It was very difficult and expensive to find alternate transportation home at that late hour. I complained to Tideline the next day via email (September 6), they apologized and assured me they "had dealt with things on their end" and would refund me my money as soon as possible. They also said they would give us free two passenger RoundTrips if I decided to ride with them in the future. (For the record, based on my awful experience, I do not plan to ride with them again.) I waited two weeks for my refund, but never received it. I finally got tired of waiting, so I filed a transaction dispute with my credit card provider. I'm letting the bank deal with them. All very disappointing. read more

I took the Berkeley commuter shuttle to SF for the first time today, and I am ruined knowing that I'll have to take BART back tonight. It's only a few dollars more, but being able to reserve a seat and not experience the stress of BART's constant delays, "police activity" and other various daily shenanigans, can help start your day off right, mentally. I'd take it every day if Tideline had a slightly earlier and later run. The earliest departs at 7:30 a.m., and will pull into the SF pier a few minutes before 8. If you have a job downtown SF where you need to be there at 8, then it might not be a good option. If you have the flexibility, though, it's a beautiful ride with fresh air, beautiful views, and a friendly crew. Seats could be a little more comfortable (they're hard wooden chairs and benches), but it's better than standing on BART with hygiene deficient people crowding in on you. The latest taxi leaves SF at 6:30 p.m., which, unfortunately, is the time I get off work right now, so I wouldn't be able to catch it in time. I would switch to the Tideline shuttle for my entire commute if the timing was right for my work schedule. read more

They cancelled our reservation to a Giant's game on the Friday afternoon before a Saturday game. While they offered us a refund, that didn't change the fact that we had to do a lot of last minute scrambling to get to the game on time. It's not worth the grief. read more

Thank you so much for a memory which will not soon be forgotten. My mother has been waxing poetic about this adventure for two days straight. I had family in town and wanted to give them a unique experience. Our ride from Pier 40 to The Trident and back was all that and more. Think of all the positive words in the book because that is what it was. Unforgettable and seamless. Charlie, the owner, returned all of my annoying phone calls while I was setting this up and our captain, Mike went out of his way to make our trip special. If you want to have a different perspective on S.F. do this you will not soon forget it. I received two confirmation emails the day before our trip at different times as I didn't get on line to receive the first. After confirming I received an email from the owner and a return phone call. I do not understand the negative review that was posted here as I got three return confirmations. If you are really worried about it, call. They got right back to me. Thank you so much, I will telling everyone what a fabulous and memorable trip we had. read more

What a great service! We rang up Tideline when we discovered the 2 hour wait to get on to the ferry to get back to SF from Sausalito, after biking over the Golden Gate. They met us at a nearby pier, loaded us (4 adults, 2 kids), our 4 bikes, including 2 tandems, aboard and whisked us across the bay as the sun set. Depositing us on the pier right by Hayes St. and pointing out fun sights to our kids along the way, including a close up view of the Sea Lions on the end of one of the piers as we pulled in to be dropped off. This was one of the highlights of our trip. They said they take reservations, and what a treat it was to have these pleasant guys end our day instead of a grueling 2 hour wait for the ferry complete with children melting down! It wasn't cheap (@160.00 total, 110.00 base fare for up to 4 people, 15.00 ea per extra person and 5.00 ea for each bike) But since we were about to pay 66.00 for the ferry, it was @ 100.00 extra. And instead of standing in that line, that was probably the best 100.00 extra we have spent on this trip. Highly, highly recommend. read more
