Raphael goes above and beyond for customers and their events. I have recently used them a few weeks ago for a shuttle to top golf and back, and everyone had a great time. Motor coaches, mini busses, vans, limousines, they got it all and they do a great job at showing up on time and in professional vehicles. What you look for in a bus company is to safely and efficiently get passengers from Point A to Point B. Umbrella Bus barely got our passengers from Point A to Point B, did not do so efficiently, and arguably didn't do it terribly safely. We booked Umbrella for a 54-passenger shuttle to transport wedding guests from our wedding hotel to our ceremony venue, and then from the ceremony venue to the reception venue ($1050 total). I confirmed this itinerary with their staff by email and phone several times (at least three), because they kept sending me invoices that only showed a partial itinerary, but they assured me that they had the correct itinerary written down and would read off the correct itinerary on the phone when I called. On the first trip, the bus driver got the bottom of the bus stuck on a steep hill, rendering it unable to move. Guests had to walk nearly a quarter mile from where the bus got stuck to the ceremony site. The bus was also blocking the entrance to the park where the ceremony was held, meaning that park visitors and several wedding guests who were behind it were severely delayed in getting into the park. We had a couple of guests who missed some of the wedding ceremony because the bus blocked the entrance for so long. It would've been 3.5 stars if only for this, since it wasn't 100% the driver's fault, though he should really have known what the buses he drives are able to handle. On the second trip, though, despite me confirming the destinations in the itinerary with Umbrella MULTIPLE TIMES, the driver had somehow been given the wrong destination by their dispatch, and took guests back to the hotel instead of to the wedding reception venue. My family members had to argue with the driver, who insisted that he'd been told to take everyone back to the hotel, and "I'm only doing two trips, how will people get back to the hotel?" but he eventually relented and took everyone to the reception instead, but meant that most of the guests were delayed by quite a bit in getting to the reception. This definitely wasn't the driver's fault though, and was clearly the fault of the company/dispatch. He did eventually take the guests where they needed to go, which we appreciate. read more

Horrible customer service. Unclear how this place has so many great reviews as my experience dealing with the owner was overall horrible. Called the company multiple times throughout the day to try and locate some missing belongings for a group of ours. The owner kept brushing me off saying he would go back look. Hours would go by. I called again and he texted back saying "he was in a meeting and that he would call me back once it was over". Never called back. We had also booked the bus company throughout the whole week. We asked one of the drivers about the missing belongings. His response. "Oh the owner is a great guy, I don't know anything, you have to talk to him he's great" in broken English. We used this company for our transport, to and from San Francisco airport to our hotel. Our driver on both trips, Dirceu, was friendly and helpful and pointed out points of interest on our transfers. The vehicle used was clean and spacious and Dirceu arrived well before time for both trips and was there to meet us with a sign with our name on. I needed to book a ride to the airport for my daughter & I literally gave them a couple hour notice and they were able to accommodate us. They were very professional on the phone. They gave me the total and took the payment over the phone. They emailed me a receipt and info on the driver. Price was decent and it included gratuity. This was a nice option that way my daughter didn't have to pay out of her pocket nor worry about how much to tip. The driver arrived on time and got her to the airport safe and sound. I was nervous booking with SF Limo Express for the first time; as I usually never have pleasant experiences with limo services. But I decided to book with them on faith in regards to their yelp reviews. I was soon relieved about my decision when they called prior to their arrival and showed up fifteen minutes early. I was very impressed by their level of service and professionalism. I rented the 14 passenger Sprinter - it was well kept, clean, and looked as advertised in the pictures. Our driver, Benny, was reliable. He remained in contact and was easy to get a hold of throughout our 13 hour scheduled event. It appeared that at 9 p.m. last Monday my group of 27 returning from DC was stranded at SFO. (Unknowingly, our transport company subbed out our contract, so we assumed we had no charter.) Have you tried chartering a bus? It's terrifying - 20% of the reviews of any bus company describe how they were stranded and humiliated in front of family when the bus did not show. One guy who we almost booked with started being really sullen and I found out he was indicted for embezzlement 2 years ago!!! SF Limo was my third town car experience in San Francisco, one of which being with uber. I've used uber a few times but I've got some horrible drivers who didn't really know keep their cars clean. Tried a different company and got ghost charges for things I didn't even know would be on the bill. I hired Umbrella to perform a shuttle service for my wedding out in Placerville and I'm a little conflicted about my experience. Raphael was very unresponsive via email. First he claimed that my emails "got filtered out", but then 2 more emails and a week later I finally get another response. Then 3 emails and 3 WHOLE WEEKS later he apologizes and says he was out of town and away from email on PTO and that he'll respond to me that afternoon. He doesn't respond for another WEEK, finally giving me a bookable link to pay for/confirm the reservation (at this point we had been at this for 2 months). He then goes radio-silent and I don't hear from him again. Was this a fluke? Was this normal in the bus charter industry? Was he dead? I was busy with planning so I didn't have time to find another shuttle service, so closed my eyes and said a prayer...and come wedding time...lo and behold...the bus showed up at the arranged time/place, looking like a brand new, jet black spaceship. The driver was courteous, punctual, super nice, and he drove back and forth for the entire day with no complaint. The bus was squeaky clean and very comfortable. My guests were immensely impressed...they really enjoyed the ride and had nothing but nice things to say about it. So.......a fantastic bus with a great driver, but a less-than-perfect reservation process. You may have to badger them for information and to confirm your trip details, but it will may all work out in the end with a fabulous and comfortable ride for your passengers. read more

I took this limo on Christmas and I was just overjoyed with happiness. The comfort was "off the chain". I am from San Jose but my driver was actually 90% punctual and some times he can be really early. The driver was patient while I was talking with my friends. He simply gave me the time to do so before I took my limo ride back home. The trick was that I booked ahead of time and in no later than 12 hours I got a response that the Cadillac I requested will come first thing in the morning. We recently went to Hawaii and decided between the kids and the loads of stuff - we needed a car. Not to mention not having to pay Parking at SFO. On the way the driver was awesome. He was early and the traffic was horrible!!! He used Google to get the fastest routes. We still got there with time to spare and it was a really good trip. I spent a lot of time looking at all of the options for airport transportation and read a lot of reviews and Groupon options. Although SF Limo Express wasn't the cheapest option, it was the only one that had consistently good reviews. Since I didn't want my vacation to be ruined because I wanted to save a few bucks, I decided to go with them. I made my reservation on their website and mentioned the Yelp deal in the comments. They honored the deal both ways, and I wound up paying around $57 each way which also included gratuity. When we arrived at SFO, I received a text message stating that my driver would be Maria, and it included her phone number. I called her as we were getting off the plane, and she greeted me by name. She instructed me to get my bags and let her know which door number I would be exiting from. Once I got my bags, I told her the door number, and she arrived in a matter of minutes. She had water bottles and a nice clean car waiting for us. We requested her for our ride home, and, once again, she and SF Limo didn't disappoint. My wife and I saved for quite a while to go on our one vacation for the year. If you're on a strict budget, then I would understand taking a shared van service or something similar. My advice to anyone considering their options for airport transportation is to spend a few extra bucks to start and finish your trip on a good note. I can't think of a single reason to give them anything less than 5 stars. There's a lot of fine print with the bargain shuttle options and Groupon deals. I selected another company with the most positive reviews as well as the quantity of reviews. When the original car service called me to cancel at the last minute of my return pick-up, I had to find another company fast. I called SF Limo Express because of their special price offer for Yelpers. While having entirely too much fun in Vegas, we missed our flight home. We had to make arrangements for flights home the next day and I had to postpone our car service reservation until the following morning. Their dispatcher was friendly and professional. He immediately rescheduled our pick-up date without any charges. I didn't detect any unpleasantness in his tone which was reassuring. Upon our arrival to our home airport, I was still a little concerned, and just didn't know what to expect since I selected them at the last minute and based on value. While waiting for our check-in baggage, the dispatcher text us to reconfirm the pick-up. We returned text with our terminal and door numbers. The driver also called us to let us know that he will arrive within 2 minutes. Sure enough, he arrived right in front of us within 2 minutes! Now, I can actually make a good comparison for the vehicle's condition, driver's customer service, and amenities in the vehicle. The car was clean, comfortable, and full amenities. Bottles of water and snacks, and magazines. It was more than I expected for an airport pick-up! The driver helped with the luggage and opened the doors for us. He was very pleasant to talk with. SF Limo Express has been my go-to car service for business travel. However, the quality of the customer service has gone way downhill with my last booking for airport drop off. Our driver, Kim, was rude and an aggressive driver - ran a red light and also tried to cut in/out of lanes which made all of us nauseous. (Docking 1 star because of the bad driver.) I contacted the company after my traumatic experience and my concerns were addressed promptly by Raphael, one of the owners. He apologized profusely for the horrific service we experienced from the driver (who was apparently a new chauffeur) and refunded the booking. Used from Berkeley to SFO, and then a few days later from SFO to Lafayette. Excellent service, even after I gave them the wrong pick up address. They called me and said they were unable find the bad location. After being given the correct address, they were there lickety split. Black Escalade was equipped with aforementioned waters and gum. Not a lot of chit chat, just a professional ride allowing me and my girlfriend to catch up on the day. On the way back, our flight was delayed for two hours. I got a confirmation email, and shortly before my plane arrived I got an email and a text confirming the name of the driver and his phone number (Oliver). Within minutes of booking the pick up I received an email which included pertinent details (time, location etc), an itemized receipt and next steps (drivers number etc) 2. Our fancy, comfy, spacious black ride picked us up within minutes of my calling him with our gate number even though our flight arrived 30 minutes early!!!! 3. The driver was polite, focused on driving (unlike our ride to the airport a week back, when the gentleman insisted on a photo show and tell of all the celebrity types he had driven, life stories etc etc. I wished he would just focus on the road!), and flexible when we asked him to detour a bit so we could check on my car.
