Update: RedTie e-mailed my husband that they are reimbursing us for our trip from our reception home. I found it suspicious that this e-mail was sent the same day as I had posted my review but maybe it just took them that long to get the reimbursement approved. Regardless, I think it is an appropriate response to what happened. Bumping them up to three stars for their follow up. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Unfortunately, I cannot give RedTie Transportation more than two stars. Our experience was obviously not typical. We used RedTie Transportation for our wedding. Our transport from our ceremony to reception site was good. The driver was on time and kept to himself. The cars are plush and clean. However, the driver did not know the exact location of the site. Although I can understand the confusion since the site is within a shopping plaza, I believe that it is reasonable to expect to not have to provide verbal directions to our driver. Our transport home turned out to be the larger inconvenience. When leaving our reception, we noticed that the driver was having difficulty starting the car. The driver never directly communicated with us about the problem but we knew that the car battery was dead. A friend immediately ran to get his car and jumper cables. Another friend directed him and the driver on how to jump start the car. Although the situation was taken care of within 20 minutes, it was because of our friends, not their company, that the situation was handled so well. We understand that not all car problems are things that can be prevented. However, I think that these situations are ones that drivers could be trained and equipped to handle in a more professional and efficient manner. The reason for the second star is that we did receive an apology e-mail from the company and an offer for a free airport transfer.* They also said that they felt that their company "minimized the situation as quick as they could". I sent them the information above and I heard back again with another apology, the same offer for a free airport transfer, and the additional offer of 20% of of any other transfer.* I do appreciate their response but can't bump them up another star or two until we have a similar experience to other customers. I am willing to give them another chance. * I wish they had not charged us the full cost of the trip from reception site home and poor service that we received. read more

Absolutely THE best car service I have used! We flew in to SFO to attend a concert in downtown SF and only had one night so wanted to get to our hotel quickly. RedTie answered my emails within minutes which was a great first impression. The online booking was quick and easy and the rates very reasonable. I called them after we landed as instructed and told them where I was. Within 5 minutes our driver arrived in a new model black Suburban which was spotless inside. There was also 2 bottles of Fiji water at the seats. Our driver was friendly, professional and well dressed. He got us safely to our hotel in about 25 minutes. We had scheduled our return from the hotel to SFO at 8:30 AM. We walked out from the hotel lobby at 8:25 and there was our black Mercedes sedan waiting for us. Again the car was spotless with two bottles of water and our driver just as professional and well dressed as our pick up. We were quickly and safely transferred to SFO. Based on other reviews I booked a town car to get us to the airport early last week. Booking online was easy. Driver showed up 5-10 minutes early and since we were ready to go we got loaded up and were off to the airport. Driver was friendly and professional. We had not made arrangements for pick up so while on our layover in Seattle I called and asked if we could be picked up that evening, about 4 hours beforehand. I was able to give my previous reservation number and our pickup was arranged with minimal fuss. All of our information was there, so I didn't have to set up anything further. Airport pick up was super easy. We called as soon as we were ready and I think we waited about 5 minutes. The drivers track flights so they can anticipate better when you will be ready. We had the same driver for pick up as we had for our drop off. Very friendly and professional. I will call again the next time we need airport transportation. I was headed to Oakland International at some ridiculous hour and needed help getting there, as I have no business trying to function in society before 9:00 am. At 4:57 am, I hauled my first suitcase downstairs and heard the car already sitting outside. At 5:00 am exactly, which was the pickup time, my phone rang to let me know my driver was there. For someone who gets nervous about flight schedules, I had no reason to feel fear. My driver was courteous, friendly, and drove quite safely - a nice change from the shuttle rides of death I've experienced in the past. In addition, my booking with Alex on the phone was easy and pleasant. I was able to pay in advance online, and take advantage of a nifty special they had running for rides to Oakland International. These are people who take pride in running a good business. I'll definitely be using Red Tie again. read more

Serving Only the Rich at twice the Price! Sadly Red Tie might be the best of a bad lot of limo drivers. I used them for a couple of years and they were timely and the limos were usually clean. The drivers never went out of thier way to meet you at the door or carry out your luggage. There were exceptions and some were down right pleasant. See they dont have to work for their tip because you have already prepaid it so why bother helping you to the door? Or even *gasp* coming to your door to collect you, when they can casually text you to come outside; you know like a highly paid buddy to come pick you up that dosent want the old truck to stop running let the engine die. The people who take the reservations seem rushed and sort of bothered they have to deal with customers but they are happy to charge you twice for a ride. They wernt terrible, until today. The sent out an announcement that they are rewarding their loyal customers for the Holiday season by doubling thier rates, but just for New Years and Christmas. They were only doing it for our benefit to help keep the riff raff away and make sure we had cars for the holidays. Isn't that nice? I think all the shops for the holidays should follow suit and double the prices on everything we may want! That way the 99% are sure not to get it! What everyone needs during a time of economic crisis are people who care for you and are ready to to gouge you during the holidays. Feel that customer love! When I addressed the issue with them this is what Paulo said "We assumed this same procedure last year for Christmas and NYE and it worked very well, because what happen on this days is that lots of random people call and make reservations and we don't have cars available for our regular clients." Unprofessional Paid for a client to be transported to and from SFO and downtown. Total was supposed to be $78 each trip. Without calling me in advance, they authorized another $55 trip to go 5 blocks for the client to change hotels. And then another $270 for a 3 hour wait outside while the client worked. They didn't bother telling the client it would be that expensive and didn't bother asking me in advance so I could have decided whether it was worth it. read more

I've used a variety of car services ranging from the venerable (and overpriced) Carey to tiny Mom & Pop & Pop's non-English-speaking cousin outfits. When booking on my dime in San Francisco, however, I always go to RedTie. Here is why: - Their drivers are always early, but never hassle you to get out the door. - They know if my flight is delayed without me telling them. - They don't need repeat lessons. After I told them how to get into my building's secure garage or where to park at my office once they never asked again. - Whenever I call they have all my details already pulled up. - Their cars are always spotless. Sadly, this is not a given with even some of the larger companies. - Their drivers are extremely courteous and accommodating. - Their online reservation system is efficient. All limo companies need to understand that they're always on the customer's time as well as RedTie. I applaud them for their hard work. I just came back from a weekend in San Francisco and picked Red Tie Transportation based on Yelp reviews. There were a lot of companies to choose from, however, this company was easy to book, on-time, professional, courteous, and low-key (no advertisements on the bumpers/windows/ect........just a great looking, comfortable car). I originally booked the car service online prior to my trip. I was a bit nervous when my flight arrived very delayed. Once in baggage claim, I received a call from Alex. Alex asked how my flight was and said that Lu was arriving to pick me up. Once outside with my bag, Lu was there to greet me with a warm welcome. (Very nice to see a friendly face after flying for 6 hours) On the way to the JW Marriott, Lu was very informative about the city. She asked if I was interested in a wine tour over the weekend. Since I did not know if my wife (who was already in town) had anything planned, so I declined. The next morning, I called Red Tie and Alex answered the phone. I asked if I could book a wine tour within an hour. Alex stated that Lu would pick up my wife and I within the hour. We took a 6.5 hour wine tour. We went to 2 places Lu recommended and 2 places we had in mind. (Lu's picks were a lot better than ours!) On the return trip from Napa, I asked Lu if we could book the car to take us to the airport on Sunday...in which, she replied "no problem". On Sunday, Paulo was at the JW waiting for us to check out. Again, awesome experience. Now for the $$ part. No money changed hands. The cc they had on file is the one they asked if I wanted to use. No hidden fees. Straight, honest business. Set rates made thing easy. Job well done. Anytime I am in SFO I will be calling Red Tie. read more

OK, these guys deserve 10 stars. We decided to look into shuttle services in lieu of the Marin Airporter. The Airporter costs $20 pp, you have to figure out how to get there and they only run until 11pm, lame! A Towncar with Red Tie is only $85 +20% gratuity, we shared the ride with 4 people so it was super reasonable. So I booked with Red Tie online. They picked us up at 3:30am, yes 3:30am, and were a few minutes early. Our driver Paulo was very nice and took all of our bags. The car was very clean and comfy. But Red Tie busted out the real rock star moves for our flight home. Our return flight was delayed 4+ hours. We were originally supposed to arrive at SFO at 10:30, but we landed around 3:00am. Paulo was there waiting for us! They tracked our flight and were in constant contact, awesome! read more

Yeah, car services may all seem like the same, but these guys are responsive, flexible and will work with you. A few other companies were impossible to reach, especially when we arrived back at the airport on Sundays or late at night. Not so with Red Tie. I love RedTie! They are ALWAYS early for pickup and extremely courteous. For some reason, I always get the same driver (Saolo) and he is very courteous and professional. It is always nice to see a friendly face after a long trans-atlantic flight. One time my flight was delayed for 3 hours coming back from LHR and they still kept my reservation and ended up transporting me in an SUV (due to timing) at no extra cost to me. I am amazed, simply amazed. I was bot happy with my initial contact with Red Tie, but Paulo the owner had done everything possible to keep me happy as a customer. He was prompt in his pickup for my trip to the airport and just as prompt on the ride back from SFO. The cars are spotless, comfortable and you get a bottle of water which was great coming back on a really hot day. Just as importantly, I found out that Red Tie is a family business and Paulo and his nephews are doing what they can to drum up business in an effective way. Even as part of a Yelp deal, they were on time, courteous, and efficient. I used them to get me to and from the airport. The car itself was spotless, comfortable, and had a couple of bottles of water awaiting me (this is pretty nice, as I'm always dehydrated from a plane trip). Personally, I find it awkward to let someone lift bags for me, as I've been raised to do this sort of thing myself. However, it was completely unnecessary to feel this way, as these drivers are very professional and do not put on an air of condescension in any way. For the airport service in SF, I'll admit that the non-offer price is a little steep. I'd use them again in a heartbeat with an offer, though! read more

This was a perfect experience each time. I've used them twice so far. The latter time, my flight was repeatedly delayed from Palm Springs to SFO until I finally arrived four hours after my original reservation time. It was no problem! They were right there when I arrived. I was off the plane and in the car in minutes. It should also be noted that the cars are clean and beautiful, the driving is excellent, and the drivers themselves are extremely refined. I've used several transportation services before finding Saulo (world's greatest driver! :) and Red Tie Transportation (world's greatest limo service! :) Needless to say after that introduction, you know I'll never use anyone else again. These guys are consummate professionals - they are not just on time to pick you up, but early and waiting with a smile. The cars are comfortable and i always appreciate the complimentary bottle of water waiting in the back seat. I have a difficult itinerary that requires a drive all the way through the city across the golden gate bride, and way, way out into the middle of nowhere. No matter how bad the traffic, no matter how difficult the drive, dropping off and picking up, these guys are always on time and always make me feel like a valued customer and not an inconvenience. I cannot recommend this company highly enough. Although i've ridden with Saulo the most often, and i love when he's my driver (you know you just connect with certain people) every driver I've ever had has been great. I literally have 0 complaints. One tip I do have is that I always book on line and for whatever reason, my confirmation email has, on occasion, not shown up. No worries if that happens to you, just give them a call. Each time I've given them a call to make sure I have a ride, I am always in their system (whew! that's a relief!!) and my ride has been scheduled - only the confirmation email has somehow gone amiss. I'll be back in San Francisco again in the spring, and there's no question about who I'll use for my transportation needs. Perfect service. The car was out front 15 minutes before our scheduled pick-up time for the airport. There was no honking or rushing us... we just glanced out the window and saw the car. When we moseyed out, the driver helped with our bags and loaded them and us into the car. The driver was polite and sane, and the ride was smooth. When we landed at SFO 10 minutes early, my cell phone rang as soon as I turned it on in the terminal. The woman on the phone told me that the car was out front, and then AT&T dropped her call. So, she texted me the information with the door number that the driver was waiting at. The ride home was also quick (without being manic). I traveled to San Francisco from Las Vegas to meet a friend from Denver for a weekend of relaxing, sightseeing and wine tasting. Because we would be arriving and meeting at the airport after a long day of work and traveling, I figured I would rather pay for a cab or a shuttle rather than worry about riding the BART or trying to find a friend to pick me up. As I looked around for cabs or shuttles, I realized it wasn't much more expensive at all to hire a car. I called Red Tie mostly due to the positive reviews found here. I was very pleasantly surprised with my experience calling in for a quote and said I would book online when I had decided for sure which way I would go. I wasn't pressured or bothered to book over the phone and was treated very professionally. I decided Red Tie offered the most value of all my options, so I booked a reservation online. One surprising thing to note is that when you book online, you are not required to pay or put a deposit down on the ride allowing you to pay cash when you get picked up (although you are required to give a cc number). I appreciate being able to do that in the case there's a problem I'm not worried about getting charged for a car that never comes to get me or the like. When I arrived at SFO, I already had a text saying the driver was there and to just call when we had our bags (I elected for curbside service not baggage service). I called when we had our belongings and the driver met us within 2 minutes outside our baggage carousel. He was well dressed, courteous, and friendly. The car was extremely clean and very comfortable. Now the interesting part... As you may know, drivers in SF can be a little...insane? I think I reached max heart rate on a few occassions in cabs around the city and have permament hearing loss from their stereos. Between the road rage and the lingering smell in most cabs, I was a little leary of how our ride to the hotel would be... Well fortunately our driver was very professional and the ride was extremely smooth. I wasn't scared once! haha It was the also the quickest I have ever made it to Nob Hill from SFO, which again was a pleasant surprise. When we arrived at the hotel, the driver grabbed our bags and passed them off to the hotel staff. I handed him the fare plus the gratuity (which was extremely reasonable and was all calculated in advance so I knew exactly what I owed), and he smiled and wished us a great trip. It truly was the right way to start off our vacation, and I know my passenger appreciated it. She said it made her very relaxed to know we were taken care of. I definitely recommend this service to anyone who is looking for efficient, reliable and comfortable transportation with no hidden fees and easy to book service! read more

I haven't left too many reviews lately but was inspired to leave one for RedTie Transportation. I made reservations and paid in advance. They're not the cheapest outfit in town, $115 one-way from SFO to Los Altos, door to door. It was just us. They don't go around picking other people up and dropping you each off like a bus route. The price includes taxes and tip! No hidden fees. When the driver dropped us off, he didn't stand there expecting another tip, it is included when you pay up front. It's this easy: When you have your luggage, you call them up and tell them what baggage door you are at. 5 minutes later a limo shows up with your name clearly in the windshield. Get in, go home. After a long day of travel, the extra $ for this kind of service was well worth it. read more

I've used them about 50 times maybe more over the last year and a half and they are the best car service I've ever used. Paulo and Saulo are awesome and their staff is extremely professional and they have never been late or forgotten about me. Before flying to SF on business, I researched the internet including Yelp for recommendations for a limo service, and followed up with a phone call to each that I picked. RedTie was the most professional on the phone, and in addition the most economical. I made the reservation and as I landed I received a phone call instructing me where to find the driver. He was just few steps from me, wearing a suite and a red tie. Our driver, Saulo, was the most courteous, friendly and knowledgeable (we got few tips on Brazilian restaurants). We reached our destination promptly, well enough ahead of schedule. We were incredibly impressed with the service and asked for the same driver to pick us up the next day back to the airport. I bought a yelp deal for RedTie and have since used them many times. Making a reservation is easy, and they are very dependable. In fact, they have been early every time I have used them. The cars are clean and spacious and the staff is friendly. The only recommendation I would make is for the drivers to be more helpful with luggage. They do take your luggage in/out of the car, but it might be nice for them to carry it up to the door. I pack light as I believe you shouldn't pack more than you can carry - but I am sure there are many people who would enjoy the extra service touch. I would highly recommend RedTie. read more

I've used RedTie for four runs to and from SFO airport so far (in December 2021 and May 2022). I couldn't be happier and will definitely use them every time in the future! It costs only a little more than a cab+tip and it is well worth it to know that they will reliably arrive on time (even early), that they drive safely and that the vehicle is very clean. It was also well worth it to be able to phone RedTie and talk to a real person right away -- it cannot remember this person's name but she was courteous, on the ball, and a good communicator, which helped me relax, knowing I was in good hands. I tend to get really anxious preparing to catch flights, especially when traveling by myself and after not having traveled for two years after covid, and knowing RedTie was there by phone, and to greet and drive me on both ends made it so much easier.
