After three months of starting my business adventures , I ran into a disputed matter with a major bank, and in immediate need of legal representation in an arbitration case. I have contacted several tri-Valley law firm and unfortunately none of them have the expertise, or simply want an extremely high contingency in settlement. I was looking for an attorney's direction regarding a building defect that was discovered on my property built in 2005. I called these offices and was directed to Mr Joshua Brysk who took the call immediately. Mr Brysk spoke to me for at least 10 minutes. He took the time to consult with another attorney and to refer to specific laws related to my issues. I'm sorry to report that my recent experience working with this firm has left me in a worse position than when we first engaged. During my first assessment meeting with Mr. Brysk, he took down notes and was open to hearing my story, he had some decent general advice. That first 1.5 hours of "initial consultation" resulted in a full bill rate equalling to about $700, which should have been my first sign. But like most, I found myself in a dire situation that needed immediate representation and action to save what at the time had my life's work. And so later that week I decided to collect this firm's services, they asked for a $5,000 retainer. Over the several ongoing months, both the opposing counsel and I struggled to receive an appropriate response from Mr. Brysk, to where Mr. Brysk usual response which typically extended be 2-4 weeks out was apologetic in nature with ongoing excuses of why he hadn't responded such as moving offices, COVID-19 SiP, falling temporarily ill and lastly some kind of eye surgery. It usually took several emails, phone calls, and in a few instances a warning of termination for him to respond. This went on for several months. I finally had to pull out most of my savings in order to collect another attorney representative, this is when it became clear that this firm had neither the time nor care to represent my case. My new counsel in a matter of two days was able to prepare a proposal of which is now being reviewed and hopefully close to being settled in the weeks to come. Something that Mr. Brysk failed to produce in 4 months! I continued to explain to Mr. Brysk my dissatisfaction with his representation and asked for a commensurate refund to the exact hours he had worked, Mr. Brysk showed no remorse, quite the opposite he seemed quite pleased to be terminated from my case and of the $5,000 he refunded less than $1,500. This has been such a bad experience, going through an unfortunate business separation is emotional and costly as it is, the last thing one wants to feel is played by a firm that should be supportive, professional, and caring- especially in times like this. read more
