I have to admit that the first thing that came to mind was the Netflix show a few years back but this place is mad legit. It's not like the NC Zoo experience but the amount of big cats here and how close you are to them is extraordinary. You can tell that they really care for all of their animals and if you get the chance to talk to one of the keepers, they will talk to you with relevant information to the point you could have a BS in zoology. It's cheaper to get in here that our local Science center and way cooler. I'm not a cat person but these cats are awesome. They even had a timber wolf which was really cool. For $72 for a family of 4 including 2 cups of feed and tickets to the parakeet experience, I'd say we got about $50 worth in actual value. If that was the actual price, I'd probably give it 4 stars. They have a nice variety of big cats as well as bears, baboons, and even kangaroos! The place is on the small side but cozy, and the kids had mostly a good time. Problem is, most of the animals there can't be fed anything (some can only be fed peanuts), and so the kids ended up feeding the seeds mostly to the peacocks and geese running around in the open. Bit of a waste. The parakeet thing was fun for a few minutes, but the staff kept shuffling us further down away from the concentration of birds to allow for new groups to come in. For what I paid for that experience, I was not thrilled about that. Gripes aside, Tiger world was on the radar to check out for a while now and glad we did it once to see a nice variety of animals, though the reptile exhibit was tiny and unimpressive. it's been quite a while since we first visited this place, so decided it merited another visit... Again, we went first thing in the morning...and again, amazed with the immense number of big cats they had here! Can't even count the number of tigers (including white tigers, ligers, and ti-Liger) and lions they had!! They have all the big cats you could ever hope to see! Plus, some little ones, like the bobcat and lynx. We recognized the lone, white wolf, Luna...she was still there! Also, there were bears, gibbons, kangaroos, owls, a cockatoo, a white and a black swan, peacocks (even an albino one!), and more! This zoo is a tad more rustic than most zoos, but is laid out very nicely...and is very visitor-friendly! It's the most intense, up-close-and-personal zoo experience you can imagine. As always, it was sad seeing these majestic animals caged up...but supposedly, this is a sanctuary, so maybe a tad less?? One funny observance is that there were these 2 peacocks strutting about, flaunting their feathers (full regalia!) the whole time...trying to steal the attention from the big cats, I guess? If you love big cats, you'll love this place. If you haven't been yet, run over there ASAP...it's a Must-See! read more

Soooo many animals! The staff are welcoming. They offer a really nice military discount and drinks or anything really for sale is so fairly priced, not airport pricing. That alone was refreshing. The grounds are spacious enough for large groups or small to maneuver the park without it feeling crowded. We spent about 1.5 hrs here- toddler, parents, and baby approve! We could've stayed longer if it wasn't a buggy summer day. We are Seniors and loved Tiger World, but it's great for any age. Parents with young children were also visiting when we were there. We were amazed at how many tigers we saw, plus many other animals. The best part is we didn't have to walk great distances between the enclosures, like at the Asheboro Zoo. This zoo is definitely Kid AND Senior friendly. There are ample benches and places to sit to just enjoy nature and watch the animals. We also loved the fact that this is a non profit sanctuary for animals needing rescue, rehabilitation, or medical treatment. The staff is very friendly and willing to talk about the animals. You can purchase feed cups and throw the peanuts to the monkeys, which was a lot of fun. We enjoyed being so close to the animals, yet it was still a safe distance. I was able to get great pictures and we marveled at the size of the tigers' paws. Go in the morning when the tigers are more active - but make sure you go... this is a place you don't want to miss! read more

What a gem this place is! This was the highlight of my whole trip to North Carolina and WELL worth the money spent. If I'm not mistaken, it was about $15 per person which was a steal. The parking is free which is a MAJOR plus. I will say I wouldn't waste money getting food to feed the animals. I was thinking about it, decided against it and glad I did. I'm not exactly sure what you are feeding considering everywhere I looked had a "DO NOT FEED" sign. Regardless, there's more than just tigers. They have tigers, lions, birds, monkeys, and more. I got there about 30 mins after they opened. I was advised to come BEFORE 11am - although I was not told why. I'm so glad I did. I got to to see the staff members feeding all the animals. A lot of zoos will NOT show you this so this was definitely an experience. I honestly would come back to North Carolina just for this place. Enjoyed a couple hours with the tigers & other animals. This isn't a zoo, they primarily focus on tigers & big cats, but do have other things like a bear, tortoises, monkeys, reptiles & birds. Ample free parking but not shaded. When at the gift shop / admission counter check on extras like feeding a tiger or getting peanuts to feed the birds - will save you having to walk back to get them later. We signed up to feed Star & it was fun. You do it via a pole so you aren't really that close, but very cool to be that close and hear the cat vocalizing. The staff is happy to talk to you and answer all your questions. If you have time, spring for 9 holes of mini-golf on the way out. Well done course and there are more animals back in there too. We even had a peacock decide to "play through" while we were there. read more

I really like visiting this place with my family! It's so nice to see that somebody cares about these endangered animals. I only wish that some of the animals had bigger enclosures. I understand that many of the animals are adopted/sponsored by certain people, and that that's how this place is able to care for the animals, but it's a little sad to see that some of the same kind of animals have noticeably smaller areas to live in because of that. But the staff is always friendly and helpful and you really can tell that the animals are well loved and cared for. I love the wide variety of animals you can visit there, it's a lot more than just tigers!! A super nice and affordable place to bring your family and get some learning in!! read more

We've been to most of the zoo's around Charlotte and this is by far our favorite. It's smaller and less crowded than the others, and it seems like the animals are very well cared for. My son also loves playing on the little playground. We can't wait for warmer weather so we can go back! read more

If you're wild about animals, Tiger World is PURRRFECT for you! This place is GRRREAT, no lion! But there are actually lions at this place. Lions, tigers, and bears! Oh my! There were also ligers, cheetahs, wolves, peacocks, farm animals, reptiles, and more. They have over 54 different species and 14 endangered animals. The majority of the animals were rescued. Tiger World is a nonprofit organization that is dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, and preservation of exotic animals. Location is a bit odd. It is located in a neighborhood. Our tour guide mentioned that it was previously a private home and the resident owned tigers. However, the tigers were not properly taken care of. Tiger World purchased the property. For only $15/adult and $12/child, you get access to the zoo no tickets or wristbands given. They also offer a free educational guided tour at 10 am and again at 2 pm during the week with a reservation. We called on our way to TW and inquired about the educational guided tour. The lady on the other line told me that I did not need a reservation. However, when we arrived, the tour guide told us otherwise. Since we called ahead of time, I guess that was our "reservation." We arrived just in time to make the 2pm tour. Our tour guide, Darby was fantastic. He was incredibly knowledgeable not only about the company and its animals, but also about animals in general, especially tigers. He told us about each rescued animal's story. Each animal was beautiful and unique. I especially loved hearing about their different personalities. However, the animals feed at 1pm and are sluggish by the time the second tour starts. My favorite animals that I saw that day were the cubs. They were so stinkin' cute! We thoroughly enjoyed our visit! I already can't wait to return. I really like that they focus on protecting the animals and trying to repopulate them but I was waiting to post this review to see if my thoughts would change and they didn't. I attended tiger world on July 4th and came early in hopes to see them feeding the animals, I even called ahead to see what was the best time to come specially for that. I got there and as soon as I get to the beginning of the sanctuary they come around with the truck and tell people they just fed the animals so I was a little disappointed especially when I called (it was a long drive). They have animal feed but it's cool for the creek animals and that's it. Came again for the scheduled animal feed got to see them feed the big cats which was nice. read more

This was their Thursday evening feed the tigers safari that they offer every so often. It is $20 per person and all ages are welcomed. We checked in at 6:30pm reservations are required then we had about 30 minutes to just roam around the park and they had a playground for our kids which they couldn't resist even though all of the amazing animals were around. Then they drove around asking us to come up front then a truck drove the food around to feed the animals while we followed on foot with the tour guide Aubrey. Aubrey was very detailed and informative talking about the animals, were they came from, their age, species, age and what they are like. She was very friendly and answered all our questions. We saw so many different animals that I didn't even know they had. I will definitely bring my family back. read more

It's not bad! Just kinda old and outdated. My kids thought it was pretty good. Not as great as a "normal" zoo.. doesn't take long to go through the whole thing...but maybe still worth going to! Lots of tigers & lions...but they looked out of it and very tired. It would be a better zoo if it was updated more but I'm sure it costs a lot to feed all the animals. Cute little gift shop at the end. This review is from April 2021 when Covid restrictions were still in place, so may be a little different when it's not a Covid Restricted time. Mini golf was not open when we went (probably because of Covid or maybe less staff on because it was Easter) but it looked nice!! I have been curious about what "Tiger World" was ever since I saw the exit sign along the interstate. Later I went to their website and liked them on Facebook. The more I knew about it I knew that I wanted to visit it. That opportunity came on a humid July day. If your way of seeing exotic animals is in places such as the NC Zoo, you will need to expect a totally different experience here. One thing important to know before you go is that you will be walking on "natural trails" instead of sidewalks. It can be uneven in spots and watching where you walk is a very good idea. Tiger World does encourage visitors to keep this in mind if you bring wheelchairs or strollers. A hot humid summer day in the noon hour is not the best time to see the big cats being active. Most of them are doing just what they would be doing in the wild - finding a nice shady spot to sleep. Fortunately the exhibits are visitor friendly and allow you to get a much closer view of these large lovely creatures than you would in a typical zoo. One of the white tigers was being active in its exhibit area and allowed me to get some good photos of it. I did not get to see the newest attraction the White Lion, as it was smart enough to be snoozing in a cooler spot out of view. I particularly enjoyed "Cape Suzette" which is home to two bears. One of them was being active in the pool area and gave me a great view of this animal. You will get close views of ducks, geese, swans, peacocks because they roam freely, especially near the water. You can see reptiles, wolves, Kangaroos and many other animals. This places runs on donations and volunteers - no government funding. It is sized just right so you could take a leisurely view of the exhibits in under two hours. If you are in the Charlotte area or the Piedmont Triad it is reasonable driving distance. I highly recommend a visit and a contribution. read more

Tiger world? Hardly. More like someone had a small collection of exotic cats and assembled them on their land. This place is just ok. Nothing memorable. Pretty unremarkable. There were a hand full of tigers and lions and a few kangaroos too. The site had chairs scattered throughout the park under trees so you could sit and rest in the shade. There was a little play area for kids. Pretty steep admission for what you get. $13 for kids 2-17 and $15 for adults. I think I would rather spend that kind of money at a zoo instead. read more

We enjoy going to tiger world! You get to see most of the animals pretty close up, and quite often they are right up at the Fenceline. They have done a good job of improving what was there when it was Metroliner zoo. You can tell the animals are better cared for and that they care. I love the fact that they support rescue and preservation. They often have days where they donate money from daily ticket sales to wild tiger efforts. read more

Amazing! I am an Animal Keeper at another nonprofit facility so I love supporting fellow nonprofits. It was amazing to see the love between the animals and their keepers. I watched the interactions between lions, Fozzy and Isis, and two female keepers. Fozzy rolled over on his belly for scratches through the barrier from his keeper and Isis loved the pumpkin enrichment her keepers gave her- she was a real ham! I also watched an adorable game of "hide and seek" between a keeper and Sue the jaguar through a barrier. It is clear how bonded these animals are to their care takers. All the animals had amazing enrichment items (toys) in their habitats, automatic waterers and they are USDA licensed so all their enclosures are up to size requirements. Basically all the negative reviews I looked through before going were very unfounded though they mean well. It is clear to me, as someone who is also an animal professional, how cared for and loved each of their animals are. I loved how they give a home to many geriatric and rescued animals - my facility does the same so the cause is very close to my heart. I highly recommend experiencing Tiger World for yourself. It is very family friendly and all the staff are so nice. It is such an amazing cause to support. If you are unsure about something always ask a keeper before making assumptions. read more

What a great place - a true hidden gem! My daughter had asked to go for a while & we finally got to go. Read the reviews that said to go before 11AM. So true! We got to see them feed the animals & all the animals were out & active. The 4 babies they currently have (leopard, 2 white tigers, & a lion) were a highlight for my children along with petting a kangaroo. Price is worth it!
